Is Kraft Parmesan Cheese Gluten-Free?
knitty kitty commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
In a quirky way, I'm glad I have Celiac because now I'm more aware of what I'm putting in my body. And pine trees are not something I want to put in there, no matter what Euell Gibbons says...“Ever eat a pine tree? Many parts are edible.”- 16 comments

@TT0202, A racing heart and panic attacks when you stand up and move around sounds like Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and is symptomatic of thiamine deficiency. I understand completely. My mother and father both routinely dismissed my symptoms. Your parents probably did not want you to go to the beach so you would be...

Terrible Neurological Symptoms
knitty kitty replied to HectorConvector's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hector, I re-read your past posts. You mentioned you had been drinking alcohol heavily in September and due to liver damage, your doctor took you off duloxetine. You also said your blood glucose levels were normal. Did your doctor measure your A1C? Did you measure your blood glucose levels during the time when you were drinking alcohol? Alcohol... -
@celioops, Hi! So glad you're enjoying improved health with hippie foods! 🐱 I'm an old hippie myself! The condiments (mayo, ketchup, pickled veggies) you're craving contain vinegar, making them acidic. Sometimes we crave acidic foods if our stomach acid is low. Low stomach acid is a symptom of Thiamine insufficiency. Thiamine is Vitamin B1. ...

@TT0202, Those vitamins do NOT contain any Thiamine (Vitamin B1) at all!!!! Get a thiamine supplement that is just thiamine. Take a minimum of 300 mg. If you do have thiamine deficiency, you should see improvements within hours. The way doctors diagnose Thiamine deficiency is to give 300-500 mg of thiamine and look for improvement. Because...

Are you vegetarian? Some Celiacs have difficulty with soy and processed gluten free facsimile foods. Have you tried the Autoimmune Protocol diet? It's Paleo, but there is a vegetarian version. (The Paleo Approach by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne has been scientifically proven to reduce inflammation and heal the intestines.) Eating a diet high...

If your GI won't squeeze you in sooner with your severe symptoms, you always have the option of going to the Emergency Room. Print out this thread to take with you since it describes your symptoms (and contains advice from seasoned Celiac Disease sufferers and we know what we're talking about!) Thiamine and B12 deficiencies can be life-threatening...

@TT0202, Welcome to the forum! Sorry you're feeling so poorly. I understand what you're going through. My family thought the same about me, too. I struggled for years trying to get to the cause of my similar symptoms. But there's hope! Celiac Disease causes malabsorption resulting in vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Doctors are not as knowledgeable...

@ceciceco, Welcome to the forum! I would suggest excluding the Miso soup. Miso is made from soybeans that have been fermented by a mold, Aspergillus, which might be grown on wheat or barley. Some Celiacs develop sensitivity to soybeans and molds. Have you tried the Low Fodmap diet? The AutoImmune Protocol Diet has been scientifically...

@Quanika Carter, Welcome to the forum and congratulations! Get checked for vitamin deficiencies before you start supplementing vitamins and minerals. Can TMJ cause salivary gland pain?
knitty kitty replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@cristiana, Yes, it could be inflammation from the virus you came down with as well. Increase your Vitamin C and add zinc. I have also experienced B12 deficiency after getting any type of anesthesia, local or general, whether inhaled or injected. There are nitrogen compounds in injected anesthesia or inhaled as nitrous oxide. The nitrogen... -
@jackelynamills, Yes, Vitamin D can make that big a difference! Thank you for your wonderful reply about your results! It's brought me to tears. Hearing results like yours gives meaning to the fifty plus years I struggled alone on my journey to a Celiac diagnosis. Thank you!

Can TMJ cause salivary gland pain?
knitty kitty replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@cristiana, I had a filling once that sat too high and misaligned my bite. Didn't notice until after the numbing wore off. Sore jaw developed. Went back to the dentist and had the filling adjusted. No more problems. My dentist often commented over the years that I produced a lot of spit. Only later doing research for Celiac Disease, I found... -

Hello! The blood antibody tests are very specific for Celiac Disease. Very doubtful that yours is a false positive being so high. Staying on gluten until after the endoscopy would be beneficial in that you will have a more accurate baseline endoscopy with which to compare future endoscopies. Like @trents said, we don't know how long your...

blood test issues
knitty kitty replied to Agrippina's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
@Agrippina, I would be wary of that test sample, too. Stay on gluten, but don't go overboard to catch up. Hopefully you will hear from the company soon. Maybe @RMJ has more advice about this. -
Was I misdiagnosed?
knitty kitty replied to celiacker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome back, @celiacker, There are more than just two genetic markers for Celiac Disease. The most common are HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8. This article examines another genetic marker.... "Evidence that HLA-DQ9 confers risk to celiac disease by presence of DQ9-restricted gluten-specific T cells" https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22342873/ ... -
So did mine. You've been diagnosed recently, but you've probably had Celiac Disease long enough to incur vitamin and mineral deficiencies. It's when our vitamins and minerals get low the our bodies start malfunctioning and symptoms appear. Celiac Disease is not like the flu, where once the flu or virus is caught you get sick immediately. Celiac is insidious...

Scott Adams' Story of His Diagnosis of Celiac Disease
knitty kitty commented on Scott Adams's article in Diagnosis, Testing & Treatment
Welcome to the forum, @KRabbit. {{{HUGS}}} You're in good company here! We understand. I've been through the physical illness, addiction and mental health issues my whole life (going on 60). I've been ostracized by family and friends, too. I've yet to meet a Tom Cat with cajones big enough to deal with it. Missing opportunities for proper...- 173 comments
