To test for an allergy you go to the allergist, and they prick the skin with allergens you select to be tested from the list. They write numbers on your arms or back then prick you with each allergen. They also prick you with histamine and a control. A raised bump after 10 or 15 minutes signifies an allergic reaction. The histamine getting a bump and the...

My numbers only go down when I do a strict liquid diet. TTG IGA supposedly indicates inflammation. I'd try a limited diet of soups and stews for a couple of months and see if the numbers go down.

You should start off initially with simple foods like soups and stews. You're young so I would think you would start to see a positive change in a couple of months. Once you get used to it gluten free is no big deal at all. Below I am giving you a list of gluten free equivalents for those times when soups and stews are driving you crazy. You should really...

Possible SCD for my 12 year old.

The full celiac panel includes: TTG IGA and IGG DGP IGA and IGG EMA IGA Most doctors only test one or two of those as a screening test. Hopefully your doc will order the tests that haven't been run yet. -
Gluten intolerance/Celiac
tessa25 replied to Ejm526's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The good thing about going to a gastroenterologist is that they test for many different issues. Be sure to ask for the full celiac panel, not just the screening test. TTG IGA and IGG DGP IGA and IGG EMA IGA Sounds to me like you know what's wrong and just need confirmation. When all testing is done there is nothing preventing... -
Forgot to mention I had fibroids, had a partial hysterectomy to get them and other stuff removed. No regrets here. But I wasn't interested in having children so it was no big deal. Listened to docs instructions without cheating and zero side effects. If by killer periods you mean cramping I believe magnesium helps with that. Never had cramping after...

I survived two years on mostly mashed potato soup (with dairy), ice cream and gummy vitamins. GI laughed when she saw that my nutrient levels were fine except for white blood count. I got the WBC up with one month of eating chicken. Now the mashed potato soup has no dairy in it (sigh). I'd try adding in chicken broth with a little olive oil added. And...

I can't live like this much longer
tessa25 replied to SadBlueBee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
In the US you can order blood tests online. If you want to go that route here is the info: The full celiac panel includes: TTG IGA TTG IGG DGP IGA DGP IGG EMA IGA You can either have a gastroenterologist order the full celiac panel plus whatever else they typically test for, or you can order your own test at a site like walkinlab... -
Most Boarshead cold cuts are gluten free. Boarshead has been the only brand I would eat ever.

My only symptom was slight nausea that lasted all day. I had a lot of mashed potato soup as it was easy on my insides (the mashed potatoes dissolve in the chicken broth). And I had smaller meals 6x per day. Easier on my insides to avoid very solid food. The nausea lessened and went mostly away in the first six months.

Thanksgiving
tessa25 replied to Jherm21's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This year I have to go easy. So I'm cooking a turkey thigh (assuming they sell those at the store), zucchini cooked with olive oil and salt, and homemade gravy. Etalia artisan style bread (boule), and pumpkin pie. Will space these things throughout the day as I can only eat small amounts at a time. Gravy: 2Tbsp butter 2Tbsp Pamelas flour ... -
These days there are tasty equivalents for most foods. So you're just changing brands. Here's my list of gluten free equivalents to get you started: If you're currently on a meat, potato, and veggies diet then relax because this is gonna be easy. If not you might want to switch to a meat, veggies, and potatoes diet at least for a while. Note...

Depression feelings when things are quieter?
tessa25 replied to LexieA's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I got a personal trainer and go to the gym twice a week. It's nice to think about other things. And I don't go crazy at the gym. Light workout so I stop breaking things all the time. I haven't torn a tendon in months. -
You can buy some Glutino chocolate covered wafer cookies to help with that Kit Kit addiction.

I believe the leaky gut diet says cooked vegetables are good, raw bad. With milk allergies baked milk is less problematic because the offending item is chemically changed during baking. Sounds like what you're noticing.

Help! Still sick
tessa25 replied to Jherm21's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've been on a mostly liquid diet for the past two years as that is the only thing that gets my celiac numbers to go down. My only deficiency was WBC (neutrophils). I ate alot of meat for a month and rechecked WBC at the same lab. Normal levels now. So eating alot of meat did it for me. My celiac numbers went up as expected. Back on the liquid diet. -

Hi, the new topic button appears now. But I still only see a posters identity when I make my browsers window thinner. Thanks for the effort! -
Denial, Child with 3 weeks of symptoms...
tessa25 replied to desirun's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It only takes one positive on a celiac test to lead to an endoscopy/biopsies to verify a celiac diagnosis. That number is very high. Your GI is correct. My only symptom was slight nausea for a few months. Would have known sooner if I'd made the appointment sooner. -

Looks the same unless I make the browser window thinner by about 20%. If I make it 20% thinner the poster identities and new topic button show up. -
