Everyone here has been so nice and supportive to explain why it's so important to stay gluten free for your disease. I however am going to have to take the tough love way in hopes you will see the seriousness of this. Going to the bathroom several times a day is just a minor symptom of your body destroying your ability to absorb nutrients, for which all...

I strongly suggest a different doctor, find one who is more educated on NCGS. He/she gave you very bad advice. Doctors work for you, find one that have help you better.

Gluten free makeup
Beverage replied to Lesza's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Andalou shampoo, body wash, and body lotions, absolutely wonderful stuff, I ask Santa for it as my Christmas present. Afterglow cosmetics (a lot like Bare Minerals which I had used for eons but does not guarantee gluten free). Also Red Apple Lipstick...I just tried their mascara and I absolutely love it, not gloppy. These are verified or... -
Thyroid problems - maybe?
Beverage replied to JaneWhoLovesRain's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I also went through a discussion (that's mildly putting it) with my doctor who refused to do the complete thyroid panel. My TSH test came back on the low end of normal, but I had all the typical symptoms. There are plenty of good articles out there about the full panel and why it is important. You definately need a different doctor. Only testing for... -
I mean I might get a prescription refill, or a new vitamin pill for example, and take it for awhile, with absolutely no symptoms. As we know, no symptoms does not mean no damage being done. I will feel fine for weeks, but then I start feeling awful, like a bad flu coming on. I never did get the intestinal symptoms others get. This for me is the...

Ennis_TX, can you please post a link to that deficiency chart? I can't read it even when enlarged. Thanks! -

I had the candida test done via a blood test, testing for antibodies, as it can be in many places in your body and a huge burden to the immune system. -

I went to a naturopath because of gradually decreasing kidney function and was diagnosed with Celiac's. For me, when I get accidentally glutened, I don't get symptoms until I've had that gluten for awhile, like several weeks. Then, I start feeling like I've got a bad flu coming on. Everybody is different. It's not like an allergy where symptoms are a direct...

Back from ER
Beverage replied to Washingtonmama's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You say that you are involved in frying foods? Is there any loose flour involved in that? Airborne flour gets into the nose which drains down to the stomach, so same as eating it. Hope you get better soon, it is so very very frustrating trying to figure out where the gluten is coming from. -
Do I need the biopsy?
Beverage replied to lngmk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Also remember that a negative in celiac tests, especially the biopsy, is NOT CONCLUSIVE, is NOT PROOF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT. -
Do I need the biopsy?
Beverage replied to lngmk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The biopsy is not required for an official diagnosis. Positive blood test and response to gluten free diet is all that is required. It was sufficient for me, along with the DNA test (shows potential only), to convince me what I need to do to stay healthy.I have a "prescription" letter for gluten free diet from my doctor based on those things. And pre... -
Lab Results Help
Beverage replied to cdwiggy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
For me, gluten was causing severe systemic inflammation, which is hard on the kidneys. So getting rid of the root cause had an effect. Sad thing is not too many doctors see the connections. -

I tested positive on the antibody test, declining kidney function being what I had gone to a naturopath for. I did not want to do the endoscopy, so did a trial of the gluten free diet. I felt like a truck hit me for about a month, like a bad flu coming on, as tons of inflammation left my body. I was not terribly overweight, but lost it all in that month... -
About the hives ... When I do my annual skin prick allergy testing, fungus is always my worst thing. The only time I've gotten hives is when I have had something else going on to do with fungus. One time Athlete's foot, thanks to a roomie bringing it home, and I had hives for 6 months every night until I could finally get rid of the problem. And it...

And please be careful with anything with caramel coloring as I mentioned already. 20ppm is not necessarily ok for you. I do not do well on all foods, even those labeled gluten free. I prefer CERTIFIED gluten free if I am going to eat a processed food. Many studies have shown that sometimes foods labeled gluten free are at the high end of the 20ppm... -

Why did you think that Coca Cola is gluten free? It's not labeled gluten free in the USA, is it there? The formula for big brands like that can be different in different countries. Anything with caramel coloring can be derived from wheat, so it would not be gluten free. Unless it is labeled gluten free, I would not put it in my body. According to the manufacturer... -

I hadn't thought of that for this poor person, but you may be onto something. I have cut out all grains except for corn tortillas, and feel I'm doing much better. Each person is so different in what they can tolerate. I have watched a lot of the youtube's by another guy that talks about some with Celiac's not getting improvements until they totally... -
Diagnosis has triggered health anxiety and I'm struggling
Beverage replied to Fbmb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You're breaking my heart with how much I felt just like you are saying ... the whole death sentence thing, just a matter of time ... futile ... that poison gluten is EVERYWHERE, no control!!! But it's been almost a year and a half for me since diagnosis, and I must say I don't feel most of that anymore. I think it takes a lot of time for you to figure out... -

I also want to pipe in about the sausages ... it's not just the ingredients that all have to be gluten free, but the processing of them. I used to make my own sausages, and people usually clean them out by grinding through several slices of bread. If the grinder has EVER been used with any gluten ingredients, then it is contaminated and not safe to make food... -

Beverage replied to Jm34's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Now this is sounding more and more similar to my experience. The question my naturopath would be asking is what is the root cause of super high histamines in your body so that anything else that you eat or are exposed to has such a severe reaction. I had tested super high for candida albicans antibodies. I really didn't start feeling a lot better after... -

I used to get an itchey feeling in my mouth, and sometimes my throat would close up, after eating many unpeeled fruits and vegetables. I wouldn't get irritated and angry, but did get that feeling in my mouth. There is something called "Oral Allergy Syndrome." I don't seem to have the problem since going gluten free. A test would be to peel an apple... -

Beverage replied to Jm34's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Some of the problems you are having may or may not be related to Celiac's. You may also have a problem with a bone in your neck or something there being out of place, which could cause the tingling and numbness in fingers and hands. Have you heard of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome? You might want to read about it and compare your symptoms. Not to throw more ideas... -
Well, shoot, I wish I could eat the Bob's oats. I love oats and the gluten-free muesli. But the symptoms were pretty clear, and they completely stopped the day after the last time I ate them and have not returned. It must be the oats themselves that I cannot tolerate (oats have a protein in them similar to wheat rye barley, and cause problems for some but...
