Wheat Germ oil in skin balms
Beverage replied to Baba Fats's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I recommend nuts.com for nuts and dry beans. They have a gluten free section. I've never had an issue with their gluten-free stuff. I'll soak and cook a big batch of beans, then freeze in smaller portions to use in recipes. -
Wheat Germ oil in skin balms
Beverage replied to Baba Fats's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I applaud you for being so conscientious. If it gets on her lips, she's ingesting it by simply licking her lips. I stay away from wheat germ oil in all products. For me, one of the worst things when I get glutened is wracking my brain for what the heck did it. Making sure all body products for both of you are labeled gluten free helps tremendously... -
Great to hear a partner so understanding, caring, and supportive. Oats was a problem for me, even gluten free oats, until I found "purity protocol" oats. But for at least a few months, she should cut out all oats until feeling better, then try reintroducing a little bit to see if any reaction. You mention a ranch...is she currently around animals...

Sounds like you are in the UK. With blood numbers that high, I thought docs in UK would give an official diagnosis without the biopsy. You should ask about that, so you can get support faster. I'd try to find and print out anything that supports that in your country, get another appointment and take all of it with you. Even in the US now, some docs...

Seeking Gluten-Free Advice for My Trip to South Korea!
Beverage replied to Ading69's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Is soy sauce in Korea also made from wheat like it usually is in US? I'd be concerned that even if asking about gluten, they would not be aware of or think of some like that. -
Clean well as others have said, use a toothbrush or brush of some kind to clean out all corners, edges, valleys, etc. After all that cleaning, I would also make a batch of gluten free waffle mix and make a bunch of waffles and throw them out, don't eat those. Perhaps that will help pick up any remaining stuck on or hard to get stuff. I did this with one...

I reacted to Aussie Bites. I have also reacted to Bob's gluten free oats and granola. The only oats I can tolerate are Purity Protocol oats. But for now, stay away from all oats until you feel better, and for awhile after. Then try Purity Protocol oats to see if you can eat those or not. https://www.glutenfreewatchdog.org/news/oats-produced-under-a...

Food, sauces, etc. can get really cooked onto the inside of grills and on grates, which have lots of places to hide. On my gas grill, i scrubed inside with balled up aluminum foil, sponges, and stiff toothbrush to get off all black cooked on stuff. I might have used a small amount of EASY OFF oven cleaner (EASY OFF is the one recommended by the grilling...

How long before felling better ?
Beverage replied to AsmaeB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I ignored my doc's instructions to not eat oats, I ate Bob's gluten-free oats and gluten-free granola. It took about a month, but I got horribly glutened. I tried other gluten-free oats and still got sick. I eliminated them for awhile, thinking I was one of those that reacted to oats. Then I tried "purity protocol" oats and no reactions anymore. All my life I've had tons of cavities, also severe sensitivity pain at times due to enamel issues, continuing cavities. I found this toothpaste has helped restore some enamel loss. At my cleanings, a few small spots were found, and I brush with this and then dab on a little at that spot. If i get a super sensitive spot at gums when brushing, I'll dab on a...

Is Gluten-Free Wheat Flour a Game Changer for Celiacs?
Beverage commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Grains and Flours
Below 20ppm? How far below? Thought most with Celiacs need below 20ppm.- 13 comments

I reacted to Bob's gluten free oats. I can eat purity protocol oats, but some Celiacs cannot eat oats at all. Definitely pets, they lick themselves all over, then you pet them. Oops.. There are many good grain free pet foods available. Also any home remodeling going on? I got sick from old plaster, which apparently can contain wheat paste.

Doing any home remodeling? I got glutened bigly tearing into old walls. Any pets? My pets eat gluten free, but I've gotten glutened petting neighbor's dog and forgetting to wash my hands. Also feeding their chickens got me, there are grains in the feed and dust from that was floating in their little house.

Vitamin supplements
Beverage replied to NanceK's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Magnesium glycinate is supposed to be the best for sleep, but for some, causes insomnia. It makes me sleep wonderfully for about 2 nights, then insomnia after that. I have read in several different places that some people react like that, apparently it's the glycine. I now use a different Magnesium with no glycinate. -
Feeling of food getting stuck
Beverage replied to HayleighNoWhey's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Before I was diagnosed with Celiac's, I had a lot of acid reflux, food getting stuck all the time, it was awful. It reduced a lot after I was finally diagnosed and healed a bit, but some still persisted. It seemed to be further up my esophagus as time went on, chronic dry cough and scratchy voice, asthma worsened. I finally went back to my ENT... -
Fever From Gluten?
Beverage replied to tannilisa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That's more like the symptoms I get after being glutened, like a flu, joint and muscle aches and mentally down. Sometimes I get a low fever, but I rarely get fever normally, even with Covid I didn't get above 99, normal temp is 97 max. That's the frustrating part, never really know if it's gluten or a cold/flu. Only difference for me since I don't usually... -

Mom Called Selfish for Making Gluten-Free Cake for Daughter's Birthday
Beverage commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Additional Concerns
Ridiculous to expect someone with Celiac to make a cake containing gluten for any reason! The exposure to gluten flour in the air is totally unacceptable. Gluten flour shouldn't even be in the kitchen she uses for her food prep. Period.- 8 comments

I have had good results with B vitamins, similar to @knitty kitty I take a good B complex, plus b12 in form Methylcobalamin, and a B1 thiamine in form of benfotiamine. These have all really helped me with energy and especially asthma. I have also used flush niacin for improving my energy, I'm 68 and doing really well. I noticed it got rid of the...

Do I Really Need A Biopsy?
Beverage replied to Krisgideon's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
In 2015 i was diagnosed with celiacs based on high blood test and positive response to gluten free diet. On my own, I also got the dna test to help me accept the reality. I have an official letter from a naturopathic MD that says I have celiacs based on these3 things. No biopsy. Just recently my step granddaughter (no blood relation to me) was diagnosed... -
I totally reacted to Bob's gluten free oats. Then I was eating gluten-free Harvest purity protocol oats for years with no problem, but reacted on most recent purchase. I then found out gluten-free Harvest had been removed from the purity protocol list because independent tests showed some gluten. Check the purity protocol list again and try a different brand...
