  1. Yes it's confusing and overwhelming and distressing. But it will get better as you learn. The best advice I was given was by the naturopathic doc that diagnosed me (after decades of mis-diagnosis from traditional docs)..."remember eyes, ears, nose, and throat all lead to the same place." I'm extremely careful, no gluten in my kitchen, but accidents...
  2. Pre-bottled drinks or ones made in their shop?
  3. Thanks. Recently I was pushed by a naturopath I hadn't gone to before to start taking Folic Acid. I questioned it at the time, but I went ahead and took it. OMG I felt horrible. My BP systolic went from 110's-120's up to 140's and diastolic from 60's-70's up to 80's. I felt awful, felt heavy heart pounding, exhausted, irritable, not my sweetie pie...
  4. @Wheatwacked why does it say avoid on B9 FOLIC ACID???
  5. I didn't have the so-called typical celiac symptoms. Mine were more like you are having. Remember to keep eating gluten every day until you do get screened. Best wishes.
  6. Also consider if you are getting exposed to any airborne gluten. feeding farm animals (I got glutened bad from feeding my neighbor's chickens), home construction going on? Glue? Playdough? Petting or getting licked by pets that eat gluten?
  7. I have osteopenia also had a really hard time swallowing pills. I find capsules, rather than hard tablets, much easier. Capsules also don't have binders and in general are better absorbed. I take procapslabs.com and no digestive upset like I used to get. I have also read articles by Dr Jonathan Wright, a well known naturopathic doc here around Seattle...
  8. "High RBC, and low MCH, with borderline low MCV" That sounds like my blood tests. I have Thalassemia, aka Mediterranean Anemia, a genetic anemia. I'm half Portuguese, a few family have it also. What is your heritage?
  9. Were all of these tests run? https://www.cureceliacdisease.org/screening/ And were you eating gluten before your blood screening tests?
  10. Definitely get rid of the pizza stone. Those are usually unglazed and porous. If the cast iron is coated like Le Creuset, clean really well. I boiled water in mine to soften anything possibly there, and lightly washed with Soft Scrub. They're fine. If regular plain cast iron, definitely pass on to someone else. They are porous. I donated all my...
  11. I've tolerated this b12 really well, I take it in the am before any food: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BHUZ68/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 B Complex without many additives that some have, methyl forms, I really like it: https://www.procapslabs.com/Products/High-Potency-B-Complex/301320/ I also take additional thiamine...
  12. Some of the things that got me early on, that I didn't think of, was airborne gluten, like grain dust from feeding my neighbor's chickens. We also have done a good deal of remodeling in our older home, and finally figured out the old plaster and wall board was an issue, also cutting chip board or plywood. I'm real leery now of going down the grocery store...
  13. Ahhhh it's awful. You get your hopes up that now that you've identified the culprit, if you just eat gluten free, all your problems will start going away. But like others have said, sometimes it's worse before it gets better. For me, within days of going gluten free, I felt like I was hit by a truck. I could barely stand up from a chair, weak, aches and...
  14. Several of my cousins have severe shellfish and bug allergies. I'll never forget when visiting my family in Hawai'i, one of those big flying cockroaches flew from a tree and into my little cousin's mouth, the allergic reaction almost killed her. With all the people with shellfish allergies that are likely also allergic to cockroaches and crickets, bugs...
  15. Yes I realize. I was more concerned about cross contamination in the processing/packaging of it. Worth examining.
  16. Try a different doc. I was diagnosed by a naturopathic MD based on 3 things : high positive blood test, DNA test, response to gluten free diet. I have a letter from him with that diagnosis.
  17. Probably a lame question, but is the rice you are eating labeled gluten free?
  18. I think Spicely brand of spices might actually be certified gluten-free. I use Morton & Basset, labeled gluten-free. Also consider magnesium deficiency can bring on headaches.
  19. If you have been eating gluten free oatmeal, try not eating it for awhile. I used to not be able to eat it at all when first diagnosed with celiacs, but now I can eat purity protocol oats.
  20. I had a lot of acid reflux before and after my Celiac diagnosis. I apparently had a slight hiatal hernia, as in following the procedures in this article for heel thumping, I actually felt something slither down and suddenly a lot of my symptoms were greatly decreased. I continue to do things in this article, and have had only minimal symptoms ever since...
  21. With all the open bread bags and flour in the air at a Whole Foods bakery, nothing is safe for someone with Celiacs.
  22. Excellent info. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I'm taking 300mg benfotiamine, but since I had covid early last year, I've found a little asthma returning. I wasn't sure if I should increase or not. This really helps. And I'm going to research about that form needing the red blood cell to get across ... I have Thalassemia Minor, a genetic...
  23. @knitty kittyI'm a big fan of benfotiamine. How much do you take daily? Thanks.
  24. @knitty kittywhat dose thiamine do you take daily? Thx.
