I don't think I am a super sensitive Celiac, but anything closer to the higher range of 20ppm would do me in over time. I've read articles that say wheat starch is safe for Celiac's because it is less than the legal definition for gluten free at 20ppm, however, many cannot tolerate that higher limit. I personally know several Celiac's besides myself, and...

Not eating seeds and nuts is no longer recommended for diverticulitis. You can do an internet search and see that that advice has changed in recent years and is now considered a myth. Here is one example: https://health.clevelandclinic.org/diverticular-disease-greatest-myths-and-facts/ My sister has diverticulitis really bad, had a section of intestine...

Bluebonnet MultiOne

I've had good luck with Procapslabs.com vitamins. I'm a very sensitive celiac and never had a problem. They have 1 supplement with wheat grass I think, I stay away from that. We use their "Essential 1" for a multi. I've used them for years, before they were sold on tv, and the forms of the vitamins are usually the better more absorbable forms. -
Suspected DH in my 2 year old son

I can't tolerate oats unless Purity Protocol. Try completely cutting out the oats for awhile. -
I believe I have this! Serology tests all negative
Beverage replied to Hb333's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I have Celiac's. I have had a few weird rashes, but not tested for or diagnosed with DH. I got DNA testing through Genetrack Biolabs. Risk is same as yours, 1:210 HETEROZYGOUS HLA-DQB1*02 1:210 I'm not sure what "HLA-DQB1*02" means .... DQ2? -
Before I knew I had Celiacs, I was given Budesonide for sinus issues. It almost killed me, made my blood pressure sky rocket to stroke levels. Be careful, it's a strong steroid. Cooked pumpkin is often used to calm digestive distress. It worked well on my kitties when they got sick (not trying to be funny, but it is what vets typically try first for...

Nicotinic acid has been used in naturopathic med for a long time. For cholesterol, they commonly say 2000mg. Lots of studies with higher doses. I've read a lot of studies, and many are not clear on the form, they confuse slow release issues, or niacinamide. I know many taking higher doses for years with only improvement in overall health. Also a Celiac...

I started at 100mg nicotinic acid. The first time, the flush was very strong, but got less each day. I took 1500mg after I got covid, and recovered very quickly. Now I take 1000mg about 5 days a week. Double check your niacin. Make sure it does not say anything slow release...check the reviews on Amazon and if people are complaining about the flush...

I've had fantastic results with the flush form of niacin, increased energy, strength, overall health, skin younger, feel younger, better sleep, and sinuses much more open, asthma gone. Quercetin didn't do anything for me.

Thank you for sharing what you have learned, you don't know who else you might have helped, but I'm sure it was someone. I found that eating as close to a paleo diet as I could helped at lot, especially at first when there are so many gluten free products out there, that you don't know if they are really ok or not. Give your body time to heal. I...

Self diagnosed for gluten intolerant
Beverage replied to Glutenfreesuriname's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I dropped 30 lbs in a month when I first started gluten free. It was all water and inflammation, underneath I was like a skeleton. My doctor said some Celiacs are overweight like that, he had a few patients that were over 300 lbs. and they went to normal weight after going gluten free. As I felt better and could do more, and exercise, I have added back... -
Have you been checked for other conditions like Thalassemia? It's a genetic anemia, common in Mediterranean area descendants, Portuguese, Italians, and more. If something like that, you don't absorb iron and iron supplementation must be avoided or it can harm liver, etc. I didn't get diagnosed until I was 19, after docs always told me to take iron, but...

Testing for comorbid auto-immune disorders?
Beverage replied to bostonceliacer's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I felt better after my diagnosis after a few months, but still lagged in energy for a long time Good quality B vitamins, with methyl forms, like Designs for Health B Supreme, or Procaps Labs High Potency B-Complex really help. I also take Liquid Health B12 recommended by someone here and B1 oil form Benfotiamine recommended by KnittyKitty. All that helped... -
Fecal test

I got very sick on Bob's gluten-free oats, they may be near higher limit of gluten free. I am able to eat "purity protocol" oats. I have been eating gluten-free Harvest brand with no issues. Here's an article: https://www.glutenfreewatchdog.org/news/oats-produced-under-a-gluten-free-purity-protocol-listing-of-suppliers-and-manufacturers/ I was... -
I just want to caution on anemia being always from iron deficiency. There can be other causes. I tested low iron for years and years, docs always telling me to take more iron, but it never improved. It took until I was 19 years old in college to figure it out. A young medical student in the student health clinic did additional blood tests that showed...

Should I List Celiac in my Medical History
Beverage replied to Ginger38's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I got a formal diagnosis from a naturopatic medical doctor (in the US). It was based on 3 things: 1. positive blood tests for antibodies 2. positive DNA test 3. positive response to a gluten free diet -
Probably from cross contamination in their kitchen, but one thought ... Did you have french fries (chips) with it? If something is deep fried in a fryer that also fries gluten foods, it gets contaminated.

I had a lot of acid reflux issues before I was diagnosed with Celiacs, and they lingered on for quite awhile even after going gluten free. Things in this article really helped me: https://drjockers.com/hiatal-hernia/ especially: 1. raising head end of bed a little by putting on 2 pieces of wood 2. the heel thumping exercise when any bad symptoms...

Could there have been any oat flour in the pancake mix? I can only eat oats if they are purity protocol oats, not just gluten free, not just certified gluten free, purity protocol. So I stay far away from any pre-made item or mix that has oats, but I do eat oats separately, like brand gluten-free Harvest, which are purity protocol.

Question about test results
Beverage replied to driftwood7's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was also a little overweight before I was diagnosed, especially for me that had been super skinny most of my life, just figured it was part of getting older. I was finally diagnosed by a naturopath at 59, and he told me he's had several Celiac's patients that were HUNDREDS of lbs overweight. one 300 lbs over. I went gluten free and dropped 30 lbs in... -
I had a lot of success with the strategies in this article...he may not have a hiatal hernia, but the things here help regardless. https://drjockers.com/hiatal-hernia/ If he is taking any antacids, not good, we need acid in our stomach to absorb many vitamins, for example, vitamin D. I had great success with the heel thumping maneuver, also...

I didn't show any thiamine deficiency, not alcoholic, but sure did have a very positive response to taking a thiamine supplement in the oil form, benfotiamine. After going for allergy shots for years, complaining about asthma, many pulmonologist visits, bad reactions to steroid inhalers (severe high blood pressure when I'm normally low BP) that the pulmonologist...

Endoscopy results
Beverage replied to Oliverg's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Don't let them put you on antacids, PPI's, etc., except for a VERY short term to heal. I had a doc try to prescribe me that, bragging that he takes it every day, real athletic young guy...and when I said...but we need acid in our stomachs to break down the vitamins especially D so that our intestine can absorb them!...He went silent. The info with the drugs...
