Celiac.com - Celiac Disease & Gluten-Free Diet Support Since 1995

  1. If you are going to try the gluten free diet, please consider this. I had to make my kitchen 100% gluten free before I felt better. I got rid of all pots & pans with non-stick coating and cast iron skillets, also wooden spoons. My boyfriend can have gluten beer in the house, but if he wants toast, he makes that in a little kitchenette in the garage...
  2. Oats can be a real problem. I cannot tolerate the typical gluten free oats, like Bob's Red Mill, perhaps they are under the legal limit but not low enough for Celiac's. But I can eat "purity protocol" oats. Here's an article: https://www.glutenfreewatchdog.org/news/oats-produced-under-a-gluten-free-purity-protocol-listing-of-suppliers-and-manufacturers...
  3. I remember seeing the separate videos of these women back then (not this interview video), but they've all been removed. VAERS is notoriously under reported, and way behind, a few more deaths of young healthy people from the rare blood clot issues from a month ago were just posted. I've had reactions to the TDAP vaccine.
  4. I felt like a truck hit me after going gluten free, for about 2 months. I did not have the typical intestinal symptoms before, but was bloated, about 20 lbs overweight after being very slim my whole life, failing kidneys, and lots of severe allergies and asthma. After going gluten free, I dropped 30+ lbs the first month, underneath I was a bag of bones,...
  5. Peter Osborne has done a few videos on vitamin A. Maybe something in there will help with getting it absorbed and alternate sources: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dr+peter+osborne+vitamin+a
  6. We've had some friends with no reaction to the Phizer, one felt like she was hit by a truck after the 2nd shot. But definately more reactions with the Moderna. The worst was one guy in 50's who had a sore arm in the Moderna on the first shot, and ended up in the hospital with high fever and very ill after the 2nd. It's been a month and he is finally back...
  7. Several vitamins and hormones play a big part in regulating our sleep. When I fixed some of my B vitamin and acid reflux issues, my sleep improved A LOT. Also, you need to get sunshine every day, letting it get into your eyes (not looking at the sun of course, but seeing sunshine a little bit without sunglasses on)...this helps our own body to create melatonin...
  8. I had a big D deficiency and did not get improvement until I added K2, also a little sip of apple cider vinegar before meals with protein. K2 helps the D3 to get absorbed. D also needs acid to be absorbed, so the ACV helped. The ACV also helped with bad acid reflux. For me, the other one that took awhile to figure out was B1 Thiamine. I was taking...
  9. I think I did have a hiatal hernia, docs thought I might, but no diagnosis based on a scope or anything, just on symptoms. I didn't try the chiropractor, but I tried that thumping of your heels first thing in the morning. Things were slowly improving after that. Then one day, after eating lunch, I had the dry cough and lots of acid reflux distress...
  10. On the migranes...I have a friend who has complete alopecia (no hair), and since that was triggered when she was a teenager, she has had very bad migranes. Her doc recently recommended magnesium supplements, and that really helped. She still gets migranes, but not nearly as often or severe. For you, a magnesium deficiency could be related to not absorbing...
  11. I thought I might be one that had a problem with oats also, because I was eating gluten free oats. However, when I tried Purity Protocol oats, absolutely no problem. But it is good to remind people that some cannot tolerate oats regardless.
  12. I'm positive it was the Bob's Gluten Free Oats. I stopped them, then tried again, then stopped them, and tried again. Each time I tried them, I got seriously ill. I never ever eat out, my home is totally gluten free (except my boyfriend can drink beer in the house and he's very careful with how he handles that), I eat almost totally whole food, and I made...
  13. That's one of the ones that made me really sick. It may have been in the legal limit to be labeled gluten-free, but wasn't safe for some Celiac's.
  14. You can buy on Amazon, but I like to deal directly with companies if they sell themselves.
  15. Finally got to my pc with saved bookmarks....here's the list I use for "purity protocol" oats: https://www.glutenfreewatchdog.org/news/oats-produced-under-a-gluten-free-purity-protocol-listing-of-suppliers-and-manufacturers/ However, please note that some Celiac's are unable to eat oats at all as it triggers an attack just like wheat, rye, and barley...
  16. I got sick on certified gluten-free oats. I have no problems with "PURITY PROTICOL" oats. Do an internet search for a list of brands. brands. We use gluten-free Harvest.
  17. Thanks for the info.
  18. I'm glad you are able to get it. I'm curious...I have thalassemia, one of the super high risks for a bad outcome with covid, and asthma...where are you located that you are able to get the shot ? In my state you have to be 65 or older, I'm 64 and even with these risks cannot get it.
  19. I understand. An ENT doc tried to prescribe me some PPI's for my complaints about dry cough and asthma, but I refused. I still remember the look on his face when I said "but you NEEEEED ACID TO ABSORB VITAMINS..." and he nodded his head, he knew I was right. I took over the counter antacids for a few months, but followed the advice in the article, and gradually...
  20. Well another thing that lingered for me was acid reflux/gerd with dry cough and wheezing. What I Iearned from Dr. Jonathan Wright is that acid reflux is 99% from too little acid, NOT too much. The food does not digest, and so rots and ferments and that causes the problems. What helped me a lot was following this article: https://drjockers.com/hiatal...
  21. It took me awhile, but not until I addressed the vitamin deficiencies created with Celiacs. I just posted this for someone else: I had big D deficiencies (take D3 and K2, the K helps absorb the D), B vitamin deficiencies, especially B12 and B1 (thiamin). KnittyKitty has posted a LOT about B vitamins. Try searching for those posts and you...
  22. I had a big return of my energy when I addressed the vitamin deficiencies created with Celiacs. It takes a long time to heal and start absorbing vitamins again, but supplementation really helped me. I had big D deficiencies (take D3 and K2, the K helps absorb the D), B vitamin deficiencies, especially B12 and B1 (thiamin). KnittyKitty has posted...
  23. Andalou and Red Apple Lipstick (they have cosmetics, not just lip stick). Sign up for newsletters and they send codes for discounts.
  24. Absolutely gluten free... as the doc that diagnosed me said... ear, nose, and mouth all lead to the stomach. Ever wash your hair and not get water in your ears or eyes, or even mouth? Wash your face and not get some in there? Scratch your arm and then maybe pull a hair out of your mouth or rub your eyes? Body lotions and hair conditioners can have oats...
