What's the Best Gluten-Free Pie Crust at Whole Foods?
Distressed commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
Good to know, I prefer a ready-made one to the mixes. Also, Fry's grocer has begun stocking celiac-safe cakes and pies, etc. in the frozen food section. 😊- 2 comments

I read an article years ago that outlined the connection between Gliadin and Type I DM. The amount of gliadin has increased markedly since the production of the "mutagenic" wheat grain. This increase is also associated with "weight gain/ obesity as well as diabetes. The articles concluded that the gliadin held the greatest potential for health problems...

A Gluten-Free and Worry-Free Disney Vacation
Distressed commented on Ken Guzzardo's article in Autumn 2005 Issue
It was eleven years ago when we decided to eat at one of the dinners inside Disney World. They served one gluten-free meal. It consisted of a dried-out overcooked plain unseasoned chicken breast and a plain baked potato. There was no such thing as gluten-free grain products available at that time. I was at Dollywood a year ago. We found a few places...- 2 comments

Flight Delay Leads to Gluten-Free Meal Chaos for Family
Distressed commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Additional Concerns
Excellent set of questions that express exactly what I feel. It has been 12 years now since the "modern" wheat came onto the grocery shelves. My life used to be "eat anything, anytime". Its all very stressful and at times overwhelming. -
Flight Delay Leads to Gluten-Free Meal Chaos for Family
Distressed commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Additional Concerns
On the above list of items to make ahead of time there are many gluten cross-reactors mentioned. medium container - craisins? (Packed in a toxic heat processed oil) mayo? (Made with heat processed oils) bacon? (Not kosher) Medium container - veg stir fry? (Prepackaged stir fry has many cross contaminants & preservatives & often processed in... -
Flight Delay Leads to Gluten-Free Meal Chaos for Family
Distressed commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Additional Concerns
I've brought gluten-free foods to the airport. Security dumped the items into the trash bin. Perhaps this has changed. I am expressing frustration at have what seems to be intolerance to "gazillion" gluten cross-reactors and the associated ensuing diarrhea. -
Flight Delay Leads to Gluten-Free Meal Chaos for Family
Distressed commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Additional Concerns
This is precisely why I do not travel. Society as a large has remained "attitude intolerant". Even if one selects a salad, what is in the lettuce? Was it tossed by hand by someone who just placed wheat bread in the toaster? Does it contain gluten cross-reactors? Do the salad dressing choices contain preservatives or other noxious ingredients? I've purveyed... -
The problem currently is that restaurants and sports bars refuse to carry gluten-free beers. They only supply the very sweet "hard apple cider" (the taste is awful). Your suggestions are awesome!

That is a correct statement. I have a many autoimmune disorders. It is said that the aluminum adjunct in vaccines can worsen these diseases. I'm considering trying to slowly remove heavy metals from my body. Researching ways to safely do this.

Is Buffalo Wild Wings Gluten-Free?
Distressed commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Additional Concerns
So true. They used to have a "designated" gluten-free fryer. Then along came its popular boneless chicken recipe. As a once loyal customer, I wrote the corporate offices and received an angry reply in return. The words used were totally unkind, but then some people only see the bottom dollar. It's been two years since then and I'm NEVER going back...- 1 comment

Gliadin in modern grain is suspected of causing Diabetes Type-1. It's also is a "feel good" protein that fits so neatly into the brain "cocaine" receptors. Women have a tougher time in withdrawal based on personal experience. Check out the article: Why Wheat Can Be More Addictive Than Sugar or Drugs - Dr. Don Clum (insulinfriendlyliving.com) Toward...

Glyphosate in Food: List of Products with Dangerous Weed-Killer (healthyandnaturalworld.com) Also, the wheat embryo was soaked in sodium azide f/b x-ray and gamma radiation. This increased the celiac disease epitomes to the point that over 45% of the US populace has some form of gluten sensitivity or intolerance. Nature would never have caused wheat...

Oddly, last year Omission beer could not be found for 4 months. I contacted the company, but received no response. Two months ago, it reappeared on the grocery shelves. It is my favorite tasting gluten-free product also. I try to stick to potato vodka (Blue Ice) being my favorite. It is very smooth. I rarely drink grain-based alcohol because of plant...

Traces of wheat
Distressed replied to Oldturdle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, it is a dangerous endeavor. Any product labeled "manufactured in facility containing wheat" is a no go. Although it is rare, some products do not have any allergen warning on the package. The trials were costly and I no longer leave it to chance. Even gluten-free labeling must be evaluated. I look for the Certified label. "Celiac friendly"... -
I stopped eating at fast food chains years ago. While visiting friends I sat with them, sipping on tea, as they ate. There were notable "gluten allergen" placards on the front counter. Its food quality overall took a downturn years ago. The NCGS and celiac-related diseases have risen to 45% of the "diagnosed" population. What do you think will happen...

Calcium Deficiency: A Cause of Obesity? | (robertbarrington.net). Back in 2009, I had 4 bowel movements after each meal. Never lost weight during that time and my calcium serum levels rose. Peripheral neuropathy and eventually hyperparathyroidism with many neurological problems. After surgery, calcium was a daily requirement. I reacted poorly to the...

Encouraging article, but my gut has worsened recently. Can not eat anything except plain meat and well cooked vegetables. Nothing else. It's strange and frightening. The only side benefit has been weight loss.

Thank you dearest Susan. You have a deep-hearted kindness that is so rare in our society. The mental suffering never fully ends. There are "troublesome" work arounds. Fortunately a couple of people at our synagogue have gone out of their way to prepare a gluten-free desert or bread for celiac individuals. Due to numerous requests, there is now a provision...

Years back, I asked about the "type" of oil used. It was a mixture of several plant extractions including "cotton-seed". This textile crop oil is the most "toxic" of all oils since it contains high levels of pesticide. Also, it uses "seasoned salt" on its hamburgers. The flavor enhancer contains a gluten cross-reactor: yeast/yeast extract. I had...

This is excellent news! It also explains why some of the beers have been "pulled-off" of the market place. I was wondering what had happened. The companies did not respond to customer service questions. It would appear that this is why: The products disappeared in conjunction with the August 13th date.
