  1. I second this statement upon my experience as the more strict I am it appears the more sensitive I am. I have read that others also became more sensitive once diagnosed and on the diet. It was determined during my months of testing and under Dr care at a clinic, I am not IgE mediated allergy for wheat, rye, barley, but my Dr did state I had a delayed reaction...
  2. Happy News! Congratulations your hard work and dedication is inspiring to all. Stay "Peter" Strong our dear Cycling Lady
  3. Hmm celiac is for life too and symptoms often last longer than gluten just clearing the gi tract- many of us can all atest to that. With gi issues it's kind of would you rather be shot or stabbed (umm neither ) As Ennis shared a delayed diagnosis often just adds more gi issues to the celiac party. As for symptoms leaving the system when you stop eating...
  4. Ahhh optimistic ( I got this) with a big learning curve .... not! been there -before I was diagnosed. Trying to figure out WTF wheat allergy, NCGS,Celiac ? In the numerous years of misdiagnosis & undiagnosed land..... shopping at one store for all your needs a ha ha ha ha not with many celiac multiple intolerances.... you mostly...
  5. Yep I second this I was always told I was over emotional and melodramatic growing up with this undiagnosed disease. I also get brain fog and word retrieval and short term memory goes out the window. I also get ataxia symptoms too so as others mentioned we are a family here of shared symptoms. good luck on the rest of the challenge and may...
  6. Thank you Renaye. I am glad to hear your joyous news. I hope to one day get back some foods I / we lost in our home. best wishes If you are able to eat some mozzarella & caprese for me the fresh basil, tomato, and mozzarella with olive oil -yum
  7. Ennis, so sorry to hear the fall out is continuing to be a line of falling dominos for you. That's how I experience and try to describe it to people outside this community. now with nerve and raging multiple intolerances. ? As you know I and many others can relate.? I am glad the D stopped and it is so unfortunate once those other dominos...
  8. Agreed this would be amazing! As the challenge can be extremely difficult for some people to complete. While often times people can be critical of someone desperate enough to go gluten-free often times they can have a misdiagnosis in their medical history , coupled with some pretty extreme symptoms etc that spurs them to such extremes. Not many...
  9. This would be wonderful news. As a challenge can be difficult to complete for some people.
  10. Same to you all as well. Happy holidays, merry Christmas, happy new year. Today is 10 degrees (burr) in my Midwest state. Warmer near the lake they say - tomorrow possible low of -1

Keeps me calm also got headaches and lightheaded symptoms...
  12. Well as many of you know me mom AWOL is not new to forum. Wowl ( son) realized he's like mom post mom's g challenge as I modified the family diet according to my authoritarian immune system's desires. Wowl knew quickly he's like mom and dropped gluten outside home as well. Ewol was not sure. My dear Ewol , I have mentioned, I was suspect may also have...
  13. Oh no- Ennis d and all the nerve tweaks / twitching/ numbness my sympathies I barely have those symptoms in my rear view mirror now good call on ditching that hand blender sometimes once that switch gets flipped even just cc it feels unrelenting . Imho you probably have been so careful that the 15 ppm is just a no go even if below...
  14. "But patients with either condition should avoid gluten, which is a protein in wheat that helps to give products or food its shape." The person interviewed or author of the piece should also point out gluten is in barley and rye to fully inform the reader. This leads to general confusion among the public and misunderstanding towards Celiac and...
  15. Is anything rubbing it clothing a seam etc? If you can alleviate that it may help some too. Although the location sounds most inconvenient. My biggest issue was rubbing. The sweat seemed to help the clothing bond to me more excebaying the rub. I would have more form fitting workout gear I could wear without underwear. my bum would flare, waistband, and...

  17. Definitely a family history of autoimmunity spectrum Jane to give the DR' s many IBS are missed celiacs. 20 years ago I was told based on symptoms only you have IBS and have to figure what you can and can't eat. Only later to read many celiacs were formerly diagnosed IBS. My scopes ruled out IBS. Based on family history you should be suspect imho
  18. The casein makes my muscles and joints ache. I realized it was casein not lactose when we got a lactose free cheese with milk casein added. Ouch we were determine food diary wise what was up with my husband and my son. my son is like me . We do almond milk. my husband can do sheep cheese but not anything from cow. I did daiya a...
  19. Hang in there as cycling lady said. I am post one year and I still am waiting to be a better version myself. I have read anywhere of one to two years for some cases. Try to make note of the things that have improved that you are happy about and proud of. Exercise longer, more energy, better mood, less BM , pain etc. anything to maintain perspective...
  20. I am sorry you have been unable to go on Holiday for 18 years due to this. So glad you found that gentleman who mentioned your issues maybe gluten. It got you here. Now Karen and JMG have great advice. They have helped me much since I joined. The fact you saw a difference is excellent news. Hang in there a bit longer and go get that blood test. I am uncertain...
  21. "ok- so back in September I went to my primary care doctor with symptoms of bloating, horrible diarrhea, nausea, etc. I took a blood test, and it came back positive for Celiac Disease. " -----I would take this as positive personally. If you want gold standard diagnosis for medical reasons or to motivate other relatives to seek testing then continue your...
  22. Congratulations on your new job. You may find after working with your co workers if you explain your concerns someone may cover you on the gluten tortillas orders if you help out on some other task etc-trade. Worth a shot. Also as others said use those gloves. Good luck
  23. "vacuum sealer" to build on what Ennis said if you have a Menard's by your Midwest location you can get some items there in the small appliance section- those 11% rebate sales help. I buy canning items, mason jars there, a dehydrator, they were out of the little camp single burner I hoped to get last time on sale. I did see some vacuum sealers too, I do...
  24. I got this symptom a lot when young and particularly in my 20's I would forget to eat. Perhaps it was all the celiac bloating My mom would notice my arm/hand shaking and say go eat something. When I first went gluten-free (the first time) I had to eat small snacks every 2 hours. As JMG said my blood sugar would dip and although not extreme enough for...
  25. That's logical- lol . I should learn to do that
