  1. I still have 3, but at one time I had 13. I was able to add in gradually 3 years post challenge when I was able to start making progress. I did small amounts. I agree with DC things you eat often or I previously paired with gluten is what my immune system locked and loaded on. Good luck
  2. I did it for my children. If you have family members then for some they do it. I will share I was better off the first time around. A waitress reintroduced gluten into my diet . I no longer eat out. Following up with a Dr and officially reintroducing gluten aggravated other health issues for me. I had better health the first time around. My other...
  3. I had canker sores very often as a kid/teen. I remember at times having 3 at once. I did get them a bit after my gluten challenge. As I stabilized they have subsided. All the advice the posters above listed is helpful to you. Good luck
  4. Yes. I experience peripheral neuropathy and nerve issues. Autonomic nervous issues too. As kitty says vitamin deficiency too. The first time I went gluten-free I got my "moons" on my thumb finger nails , over the 3 years gluten-free I started to get them on my pointer fingers ( right more than left) I got terribly glutened in March 2016 and...
  5. Sniff sniff - oh how I wish it had no corn/corn starch. Enjoy those of you without corn issues!
  6. I followed Cyclying Ladies, Ravenswood glass, squirming itch , gluten-free in DC advice /posts in the beginning. I developed additional food intolerance s and sensitivities to additves/ingredients in foods. I stayed whole foods, did not eat out, made my own baked goods 5 ingredients of less to manage. To avoid corn and corn starch I looked to Ennis posts...
  7. I hope it is helpful to you and is a good fit for your on the go schedule. Best wishes.
  8. My son and I both experience clearing of eczema when on a strict gluten free diet. After my diagnosis and gluten challenge the whole house went gluten-free. We discovered my son's eczema cleared as well. My son is now also gluten free.
  9. "Researchers are making critical progress in distinguishing celiac disease from NCGS. Their efforts could drive breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of both conditions, so their ongoing study is important." Good to know research is progressing. I look forward to more details as they unfold.
  10. It is important for those of us in the USA to remember that the UK is NHS based run system. Their current guidelines/test match their system not ours. It is still informative for all of us as a community to know what other countries develop, use, change in diagnosing and/or treatment.
  11. Also joining the forum here was helpful to know how to correctly maintain gluten-free diet/lifestyle on all levels. As members here know the "landmines" many newbies need to know, even if they go self elimination diet route. In the past I read online reviews for restaurant s how many Celiac's go to local restaurants with gluten-free selection etc...
  12. Back and neck issues here. I started going to chiropractor's in my early 20's. Still see them now, although my treatment has moved to acupuncture as it helps my nerve/nervous system better. My chiropractor's for years had me on magnesium and probiotics (before they became OTC / mainstream) for my muscle and gi issues.
  13. My 2 cents having done a gluten challenge. It is better if they are on track for diagnosis to continue with small amounts of gluten now. Knock this testing out now! It is really hard on the body based on my experience to reintroduce gluten. It aggravated other issues for me. I still struggle to get control of of my nervous system/orthostatic issues 4 years...
  14. I didn't dream of a glutening, but of gluten containing foods I had to resist. I regularly dreamed of rolling over in bed, to open my sock drawer (? Odd I know) that was filled with nicely tucked and organized/ wrapped bagels with cream cheese, chicago style hot dogs on poppyseed buns, slices of deep dish Chicago style pizza, hot pretzels etc. In my...
  15. It was 8 months between when I first saw my gi/ immunology team (office visit ) and my gluten challenge/scopes months later. Waitlist for my scopes. Between the 2 appointments above I visited a rheumatologist upon my celiac cousin's suggestion. She and others here on the forum explain those with celiac ardmore at risk of other autoimmune conditions. ...
  16. In addition to advice given above about ensuring proper vitamin and minerals. I personally have to watch the B's, vitamin D, and magnesium. Also that I stay hydrated and electrolyte balanced. Over the years I have experienced beyond gi issues symptoms of ataxia, autonomic nervous system issues, peripheral neuropathy, and orthostasis issues. I see a...
  17. Just a side note After my gluten challenge I became intolerant of corn starch, corn dervatives like corn sourced maltodextrin. I also had problems with benzoates ex sodium benzoates. If you are recently diagnosed you may have or developed an intolerance to one of the additive ingredients. Take notes per food dairy to try to determine the culprit. Good...
  18. The supplement industry does not formulated products with iron for men nor post menopausal women. Men do not require iron as they do not lose their stores like a menstruating woman does. This link explains the details https://www.livestrong.com/article/241733-should-men-take-iron-supplements/
  19. "In the NCGS group, the AUC values for IL-1, IL-8, and IFN-γ were 71%, 78% and 70%, respectively. IL-15 distinguished the celiac and NCGS groups from control group The team's results show that IL-8 and IL-15 could potentially act as markers for distinguishing celiac disease from the NCGS and healthy controls. " Reading this part for IMHO ...
  20. Another suggestion for a snack if you like to cook/bake: I don't buy store bought bars, but I make homemade granola. I use almonds, pecans, walnuts,(pulsed in food processor) coconut oil, coconut flakes, and either honey or maple syrup. A dash of vanilla extract and cinnamon / baked in oven until slightly browned. My son likes when I layer a fresh fruit...
  21. Beautiful photo. Sounds like a great memory/trip. I hope you can return someday if you wish.
  22. https://www.drweil.com/vitamins-supplements-herbs/vitamins/vitamin-b2/ The supplement you are taking should be formulated with riboflavin RDA values at acceptable levels. If you take the amount suggested on the product you won't overdose supplementally on riboflavin.
  23. You are correct it is the b vitamin riboflavin. Riboflavin (vitamin B2) contains a yellow-green pigment that can enhance the color of your urine.
  24. She mentioned it in first paragraph. "I learned to live with this undiagnosed disaster all my life until I was diagnosed with Microscopic Colitis."
