I struggled for 2 years and 4 months after my gluten challenge. I developed other food intolerances and my immune system was trigger sensitive. It still is more sensitive than I would like. I slept a lot. I was not a napper as a kid etc. I think I slept a lifetime of missed naps in those 28 months. As other posters said above it takes time. My gi, cns...

Hair loss and Gluten
Awol cast iron stomach replied to Farrah711's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My personal experience is yes. I get increased hair shedding. I do not get large clumps, but increased hair shedding overall. Even after being gluten free if I inadvertently get cc I experience gi, skin eruption, and hair loss. -
Recommended Fiction Reading for Celiacs
Awol cast iron stomach replied to MauraThomas's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Maura I am not aware of any books. I looked a few years ago, but didn't find much. I'm glad you found good luck on the search If you are open to non celiac topics for reading one of the stumbled upon books at the library my son enjoyed years back was time cat https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/books/time-cat-by-lloyd-alexander/ Happy... -
Canker Sores & Gluten
Awol cast iron stomach replied to anonymousplease's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As cycling lady says those cytokines gear up pretty quickly for some of us. My cytokines flood more than my intestines. My mouth, esophagus, stomach, and muscles to start. -
Most of the time just say no thanks to any food offer and don't even give an explanation . I ate no thank you etc . You don't have to explain. Initially we feel the need to explain as food is so embedded in society. As time goes on you just say no thank you to the food . Honestly these days I just decline the food focused event all together. I use to feel...

Great advice above. Check for other problems. I can also get triggered by environmental triggers too. For bloat initially stay anti inflammatory whole foods. I blended a lot of my food in the beginning because I could not digest. I found ginger water, dandelion tea, apple cider vinegar, and accupucture helpful as well. Good luck

My Drs had to rule out Barret's Esophagus as my esophagus was so red and inflammed seen by naked eye in scope before they even got to my stomach and intestines. Inflammation can do that See below https://www.utsouthwestern.edu/newsroom/articles/year-2016/acid-reflux-damage.html More than my small intestine get inflammed. I did get the...

Hi as cycling lady says strict whole foods no eating out is best. I found I had to make my own gluten-free products and avoid processed gluten-free foods after testing. I didn't start feeling like my immune system even began to stand down until 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 years after scopes. I also had other food intolerances discovered by food elimination diet...

Are you not currently on a gluten diet? As others said the Drs will need you on one to rule in/ rule out celiac and other conditions. Are they doing both an endoscope and colonoscopy? I had colonoscopy prior to my gluten intolerance diagnosis, but the one who confirmed gluten was an issue was the only one to endoscope me. So in my opinion I would...

Metal Or Shingle Roof?
Awol cast iron stomach replied to knitty kitty's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I must shared while your home sounds older. I just share as the second owner of our home. The former owner built it and their kids sold it. Only the great grand daughter of a brick mason walked into an older home with cobwebs and lights out due to comed outage at viewing and said it needs love . What an awesome masonry home with real brick facade, and a... -
Metal Or Shingle Roof?
Awol cast iron stomach replied to knitty kitty's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We just replaced a shingle roof with a 40 year architectural shingle roof a year ago. They are not a standard shingle roof. They are thicker, heavier, and almost an overlapping 3 shingle look to it. I at first considered metal as a friend in a town over did a metal roof ( her husband is a contractor and materials only- labor free) . My friend is closer... -
Are you using straight Dr. Bronnners? I don't use it straight with water. I find it too harsh for the face. I use kirk's soap for my body. I make my own laundry detergent and face soap. I stopped using dryer sheets altogether. I saw improvement in my son's and husband's skin as my immune system revamped our personal care. I do use liquid Dr. Bronners...

I am spending a lot of time with the famiky. I am playing badminton in the backyard with the family. My son requires Monopoly daily. We have more board games he is just not interested in the others. We are also not doing DIY projects as other poster pointed out due to injury risk although we have a bunch to do. I will probably have to pull out the sewing...

"I've been a cannabis user for about 10 years and I guess long term use of THC specifically causes stomach issues." I am sorry for your struggles and frustration. On my part I can share I had issues stomach, gluten, and other food intolerances that I know we're not caused by THC/marijuana usage. I had never used recreational marijuana prior to diagnosis...

Silent reflux causing shortness of breath?
Awol cast iron stomach replied to milesmills's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes I had reflux during my challenge. My esophagus was damaged to the naked eye on scope. The damage was due to inflammation of my immune cells. I do not have GERD or Asthma. Past misdiagnosed so they were in my file prior. My immunologist figured it out. Gluten, my other food intolerances, compounded by allergies can cause this. My environmental allergeans... -

I agree with above posters. I have nerve issues too. During my challenge I had a knot sensation in my throat , my neck swells in inflammation, I am more prone to bite my tongue on the sides, and coughing fits due to salvia and swallowing issues. They improve with gluten-free diet. Sometimes my nerve issues dysfunction get triggered and I scared my husband...

Oh I thought of one more thing. I read that some online companies are not shipping orders except high demand emergency supplies for the coming weeks. Are you able to go to a local store or have someone check on your behalf? Another thing I utilize is my almond meal as flour. We make almond milk from nuts as I developed intolerances to the stabilizers in the...
