  1. There are benefits being experienced in the shelter in place. One suburb in our state has gone shelter in place, not certain if we will be. Good reminder we should all be grateful for power. Be safe and well.
  2. We jumped to 288 and had our first death. Our Wal-Mart has limits as you pointed out. My husband reported Costco was out of meat, tp, and paper products. It was initially hard to find bananas we got some now. My kids love bananas. My body still doesn't like a lot of processed gluten-free breads thankfully I ran low on flours and reordered right...
  3. Things are winding down around my state as our governor announced we are closing k-12 schools . He encouraged business to allow people to work remotely given the circumstances. A few teams are meeting to finalize things at work on Monday then we will be going remote. New for us. We have not heard about my husband's business' decision yet. Shelves looking...
  4. Thank you gluten-free in DC this is helpful.
  5. True indeed. It also helps one maintain a whole foods diet, or determine which gluten-free processed foods condiments ones body says are "ok"
  6. I had been put on prednisone in past prior to diagnosis due to chronic inflammation. Again this was prior to my initially attempting gluten-free and my subsequent challenge/ intolerance diagnosis years later. I was not on prednisone after diagnosis. I did have a rheumatologist offer to give me cortisol for the chronic lower back pain inflammation...
  7. I also give a nod to wild planet tuna. That is what I had to switch to.
  8. I ate at a mixed restaurant a few months after diagnosis that had gluten-free pizza. My neuropathy and left arm numbing told me I was cc about 30 minutes later. The GI symptoms arrived a bit later. We can be cc even if it says gluten-free on the menu if it is shared kitchen. Hope you feel better soon regardless of cc or lactose.
  9. I'll be honest I don't think I ever recall having half moons on my fingernails. I now 4 years later after diagnosis I have half moons appearing on my thumbs only. My right thumb half moon is better than my left which is more sparse. I do wonder in time if I'll get half moons on the other fingernails. I do recall my diagnosing Dr looking at my fingers and...
  10. Correct. I initially had to have all my allergy testing for IgE allergies ruled out first to proceed to step 2 food intolerances, celiac, ncgs. They had me do a gluten challenge despite at the time being in a shared household. It took 8 months for me to get in for an appointment. I cried telling them I knew I couldn't do a 12 week challenge. My goal...
  11. My cousin, myself, and a recent acquaintance are all gluten-free. My cousin's children last I spoke with her are all negative and currently eat gluten. Last I spoke they are a shared household. After my testing my Dr. told us that I would need a completely gluten-free household. I had gone gluten-free and did the shared household for 4 years prior to...
  12. This may sound odd, but I described to my Dr ( I had consistent symptoms before a rash breaks out visibly on me) I itch underneath my skin in the layers below. I describe it as above my muscles but below my outermost skin -not close to the surface. It follows the path of blood circulation starts on my right. Earlier years I would feel this (this...
  13. Check on all of the above for me as well. I get neuropathy and ataxia issues among my many symptoms. In my early 20s I had what I call "my fun house syndrome" my right body sensation felt 2" above my left and I felt pronated outward. Only sensation not literal. Boat sensation for me at 28 then 33 for me too. 33 was during my son pregnancy it...
  14. Oh yes. I initially was gluten-free (naively- as I had a shared household) 4 years before my testing. I got cc at my sister's 50 b day party, despite them responding weeks earlier to my inquiries that they could accommodate me) . I finally got in to a Dr. willing to test me , being suspect my previous IBS diagnosis on symptoms only 20 years before...
  15. I did reintroduce gluten to be tested. I agree with all the members above. Keep her on it until testing is complete. The goodbye tour also recommended is great advice. When I reintroduced, I am disturbingly upset to report I couldn't complete my goodbye tour. My neuropathy and vestibular issues among all others prevented me from driving after day 4....
  16. In addition to foods listed above in your article. I find using chia seeds flax seeds, and psyllium husk in baking are also helpful for those who tolerate them. I also incorporate chia into water for drinking, smoothies, jams, and chia puddings as well . They are versatile seeds.
  17. Minced fresh ginger in hot water as "tea" often helped me. I also tried accupucture and still use it as needed for inflammation and symptoms. As other said it's helpful to rule out gallbladder problems as well. Best wishes
  18. Hello Great advice from posters above. I often had chronic sinus, ear, and uti issues. As for gi at the time I was diagnosed as IBS by symptoms only no testing. Sometimes the uti test didn't show I had a UTI, but I was given antibiotics anyways. I remember one Dr in frustration told me to stop taking baths to avoid symptoms of uti's. I did...
  19. I am able to use Red star yeast for baking. I actually make my own salad dressings my body prefers minimal additives/ ingrediants/ stabilizers etc. I often look for Paleo seasoning recipes for the spices portion , using fresh garlic minced, and then I add olive oil and apple cider vinegar. I haven't gone back to bottled dressings.
  20. Cycling lady gave excellent advice. I was misdiagnosed 20 plus years. My skin issues were often diagnosed eczema, keratosis pilaris, and contact /friction dermatitis. After having my daughter we added PUPPP rash to the mix. When I went strictly gluten-free ( the 2 nd time after my challenge) no shared household, no eating out, etc . We cleaned up the...
  21. Follow Cycling Ladies advice to keep gluten in your system until the scopes are done. I did not enjoy a challenge, to call it a challenge is an understatement.
  22. I am an odd one. My body does not like a lot of additives and ingredients. I was able to do French's or plochman's in the past. Once I underwent my elimination diet to determine my various food/additives intolerances after my gluten intolerance diagnosis, I began to buy Coleman's or Spicely ground mustard and make it as needed. If you try that route...
  23. On goodness Ennis the building being sold is tough at this stage when you are trying to get you catering truck up and running. I do hope that this all works out in your favor. Losing nutritional yeast that's also a hardship as I think you often used it in your regime. The things many of us do to keep the body happy. On my end I have begun to react...
  24. I have issues with cow milk and corn . There are some similarties , but some unique differences for me- symptom wise. Both cause muscle aches and back pain for me. Joint issues as well. Cow milk can cause my GI tract to come to a screeching hault. Corn causes my GI tract to feel like it unzips . Corn starch in particular can cause internal...
  25. I bake with both flax and chia seeds. I will put a tsp or 2 of chia seeds in water or a tbsp of chia in coconut milk to make chia pudding. I have not just sprinkled on my food as knowing my GI tract and my other tag along issues I require lots of water. My daughter can use either sprinkled on her smoothie bowls etc. They do not bother her. I...
