    ARCHIVED Advice

I'm having second thoughts to be honest, due to my budget I've got a 12 hour stopover at an airport followed by an 8 hour flight, I don't know how I can get through that food-wise
  2. Hi, just looking for some advice as I'm still learning. I'm looking to go to Kenya next week and I'm quite stressed about the journey, I'm not too bothered about while I'm there as I should mostly be able to eat fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. What's the deal with chips (fries) in fast food places and restaurants, should they always be avoided? And how...
  3. It's more to do with my OCD but I never touch food without washing my hands first or let my food touch any surfaces or anything. This doesn't seem like an unreasonable thing to do while trying to avoid contamination. The important thing is to not let it go over the top though, I think my current level of handwashing is just about acceptable lol
  4. I've decided not to do the tests, after eating something that was apparently bad (had been careful mostly) and going back to the hell I had been going through for years, why should I go back to that for the next few weeks/months? Why does it matter to me if it's celiac disease or some other gluten intolerance/allergy? I know what gluten does to me and I'd...
  5. I'll talk to the doctor but I don't think I'll go for tests, I don't care about living long soI'm not bothered about needing checkups and stuff like that, I just don't want to deal with the problems caused by gluten anymore
  6. I didn't even realise I'd have to go back on gluten for the tests, I'd prefer not to if possible, is there any real need to do the tests?
  7. This sounds a lot like OCD, if not full on then at least bordering on it. It's great that your boyfriend is supportive and that he's willing to eat gluten-free. Maybe he should eat what he would normally eat because he's allowing your fear to grow, the more you avoid it the more the fear will grow and things will only get worse. Obviously this is just...
  8. Hi, I've been gluten free for about 4-5 months, self diagnosed celiac/gluten intolerance and it's really helped things for the most part but been persuaded to get the proper tests done. Just wondering what it's like/anything I need to know. For the last 5-10 years I've been going to the doctor they've been useless, didn't even suggest gluten even after I...
  9. I've been gluten free for about 4-5 months, it was a nightmare before that and things have mostly improved but yeah I'm not sure if it's celiac or some kind of gluten intolerance/allergy. Thanks for the replies I'll go to the doctor as soon as I can to find out exactly what it is
  10. Thanks for the replies, very helpful info, I have a lot to learn. I don't even know what the celiac panel run is lol. I haven't really had any tests done, when I went back to the doctor after diagnosing myself he just told me to carry on doing what I'm doing. They've been completely useless there. The thing is, I'm sure people don't need too much...
  11. Hi, I diagnosed myself with celiac disease about 3 months ago (after suffering with stomach aches and trouble with digestion for the last 5-10 years, which the doctors failed to diagnose the whole time) Since I've been eating gluten free, which has stopped the stomach aches and problems with digestion, I just feel overwhelmed. I need to get used to the...
