  1. Thanks for this - it’s very helpful! Oh yes, I did the endoscopy with this dr and it came neg. Then switch doctors and did an 8 day gluten challenge and did another endoscopy which was positive. The reason for my question is...do I need to have a sit down with this doctor and explain that he’s been negligent? I’ve been through enough GIs to know that ...
  2. Yeah, I have not been being super strict because I did not know it was celiac disease, - like I’ll eat gluten-free stuff in a restaurant or whatever and I’m sure some of it was not super clean. BTW that WAS a GI doctor. Is that test enough (the 78) plus self reported issues with gluten to dx celiac do you think?
  3. Hahahahaaaa!! A little facial isn’t gonna kill you, hair and makeup ppl!!!
  4. Hey guys! Recently diagnosed officially after aoiding gluten for 12 years. It took me 3 doctors to find someone who would come at the issue with a non-biased POV. I ended up doing a gluten challenge and got a blood test and biopsy. Today I got a blood test I took last year prior to the gluten challenge and the Gliadin IGA was 78.0. I have...
  5. I have this, too. The Departed was very difficult to follow - someone needs to tell the casting directors that ensemble casts need to all hv diferent hair.
  6. Update: the biopsy showed mild villour atrophy consisten w celiac but not very strong. The blood test was mostly non-interesting except: Immunoglobin A Qn Serum 153 Deamidated Gliadin Abs Iga 103H They did not take a DGP IgH I dunno what all that means but taken together, the doctor coughed up a dx of celiac. Dr Blank FTW. ...
  7. Thank you Matt! When you posted was my birthday in the 13 to which was also the day the doctor called and said it was a positive biopsy consistent with celiac. I was surprised how shocked I was even though I knew it was coming and have been gluten free for 12 years. But it was hard to hear anyway. The doctor says he thinks the blood tests indicate I've...
  8. Hey guys! I wanted to follow up cause I know this site comes up for ppl Googling for info. Here’s the most recent: I was back on gluten for 8 days (20-28 Jan). The last day, I didn’t feel unwell but somehow I felt I should go back on a gluten-free diet. I dont know why. I felt like I could be not well very soon. I can’t put my finger on it. ...
  9. Hey guys! Thanks so much for your responses. Hopefully if there is a negative result I can at least get a dx based on the situation that has developed. My new GI dr is already chewing me out about cross contamination so I feel like he is pretty convinced about the celiac thing, regardless of what the result is. I may be able to get him to write a dx,...
  10. Hey, I was born in 1969 and was fed Similac. I’m trying to determine if it had gluten in it at all, but I am finding nothing about it. Certainly, they did not know about not feeding gluten for the first 6 months then but I am wondering if that 1969/70 recipe inclulded any gluten ingredients. It’s really hard to find that info online after searching. I...
  11. Yeah, no I did not ever get a dx which is the problem. I was told abt the test but back in 2005/2006 I wasn’t able to get medical insurance due to pre-existing and it was before Obamacare, so I could not afford the test. The guy recommended I start a gluten-free diet and see if it helped which it did. I meant to try it for a couple weeks to see what u...
  12. Yeah, I’m not so sure it’s worth it to get myself back to square one to get a dx. I mean, I need to get a dx. It would be super helpful, I mean. But I also need to work and make money and not be ridiculously sick. Do they ever write dx’s w a genetic test and the fact that gluten-free diet helped? I dunno if anyone knows but. Thanks so much for your ...
  13. Hey guys!!! I am in NYC and have had drs tell me “Oh you don’t have celiac. It’s really hard to maintain a gluten free diet.” Oh, well. OK then I’ll decide not have it! WTF! I’ve been gluten-free for 11-12 years. For financial reasons, I kinda wanted to have a diagnosis, but I was freaked out about going back on gluten. In the past yr, I’...
  14. Hey guys! Thanks for the answers! Still looking - hahahahha, I know it’s been a year and a half by now. Things have changed for me a bit. I did see a doctor I got through Zocdoc who was supposed to be a celiac expert (although he takes all kinds of GI issues) and he told me to like eat a donut a few days ahead of a stomach biopsy and then he could tell i...
  15. Hey guys! I'ec long used these forums for info over the years. First post ever! I know this has probably been covered but for some reason the search is not working for me on this device. I am looking for a dr who is more open minded abt celiac in NYC who takes HealthFirst. My story is I've been sick for years and in like 2006 a chiropractor...
