Is LiveGFree a Safe Brand?
pdm1981 replied to DeviD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some of their gluten-free Certified products use to have the voluntary statement "May contain Wheat"! That was a while ago though. I would use caution and read the labels. -
DO NOT USE FACTOR75!: Thanks for reaching out! Shayla here, I'm with the Factor 75 Customer Experience team. Every one of our meals is free of gluten, soy, hormones, antibiotics, and preservatives. However, if you’ve been diagnosed with Celiac Disease, we can’t safely recommend Factor 75 for you. (Sorry!) The only way to guarantee your safety is ...

So this weeks of meals has had a couple losers. I almost cant wait for next weeks meals. Anyway, I'm going to try Trifecta until the end of the month and move on to another meal service. There are a few I have in mind: Factor75 and KettlebellKitchen. It's not that I care for the Paleo diet, but if it is truly paleo, it should be gluten-free. I just emailed...

Well I finally had a meal that was just awful. It was some sort of Southwest Turkey meal. Terrible. Worse than the Curry. Besides that, not too bad. The meals are still better than something I could cook and I'm achieving my weight loss goals. I'm down another 5 pounds meaning I've lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I go to the doctors for something unrelated on...

That's the site. There is a promotional code out there too for your first order. There's other places than trifecta but I'm giving it a try for a month and see how things go. I'm also going to get blood work, see how much weight I lost, and so on. I would've tried Freshly but they don't deliver to Cincinnati yet. I was told they would later this year though...

Today is day 11. I have to say that I don't like Curry. The bad part is I've gotten 2 meals this week that are Curry. Bummer. Some of the other meals taste the same as each other too. I am starting to see the weight loss now which is good and I'm not experiencing low energy so that's a plus. I'll weigh myself Thursday when I go to the gym. Anyway, it's still...

Today is day 7. I can tell that I have began to lose a little weight which is good. I feel pretty good, but stay a little hungry because of the low carbs. I do cheat still by having 1 can of Dr. Pepper each morning though. I know it's the Paleo diet but if a cavemen had a can of pop, he'd drink it. Anyway, Trifecta Nutrition has had some great, good, and...

gluten-free Meal Delivery
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm writing about my experience with this company in the post Trifecra Nutrition Meal Delivery Journey . I just finished a week. I'm a terrrible cook and used a bottle of ketchup and hot sauce a week to make things edible. It's just way too easy to pop something in the microwave for 3 minutes and a good meal is ready to eat. -
So I'm about 4 days in now and haven't had any reactions. The food is pretty good. The only thing that I have to say is that the chicken was pretty bland. Besides that, not too bad. I've lost 3 lbs so far but I definitely miss the carbs. It's nice not to shop and cook and do dishes. Money well spent. If any body has any questions, fire away.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to try a gluten-free meal delivery service. I chose Trifecta Nutrition because they said that all of their foods are "100% gluten free" with "no chance of cross contamination". I chose their Paleo Plan because I also need to lose some weight. I started it today and ate the Salmon with Asian Vegetables. All I...

gluten-free Meal Delivery

Man, if it's something you really wanted to try, put your feelers out into the Crossfit gyms or celiac disease/gluten-free groups and see what it would take to ship things in dry ice. Maybe even the gluten-free conventions that happen across the country. There may be an opportunity there for you. -
gluten-free Meal Delivery
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
They claim that they are. I know how you feel. I was making every Sunday a meal prep day and it just gets old. I tried Paleo on the Go and had no issues except that it wasn't that good and the food was always the same. I'm going to give this company a try and hopefully everything works out. Like you said, it all comes down to trust. Hopefully it's legit.... -
gluten-free Meal Delivery
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Time is money, and in most cases, worth more than gold. If they do the research, cooking, and everything involved with being someone with celiac disease, thats okay with me. I'll pay for their time cause that's time I'll never get back. Time I can spend with my daughter, girlfriend, parents that are getting old. That's not just buying food, it's memories... -
I've given up shopping. When researching foods like I'm sure all of us do I stumbled across a meal delivery service called Trifecta Nutrition. They claim to be 100% gluten-free, soy, and dairy free. They have meal plans like classical, vegan, and paleo. I finally gave in and subscribed to the Paleo plan. I need to drop some weight anyway. I just can't stand...

I'm going to the Cincinnati VA Hospital this Tuesday to see about getting genetic testing done for celiac disease. My original biopsy was screwed up because the doctor told me to go on a gluten-free diet before the scope. The results were no good because I had been on the diet for 3 weeks. I don't want to get sick again just in case I do definitely have it...

I never buy Udi's. It's way too expensive. I like Three Bakers breads. Cheaper, never had any issues, and the company was started by a family with celiac disease. I too don't feel good after eating Udi's hamburger buns for some reason. One bread I've read about to avoid is the LiveGFree brand. It's the Aldie store brand. LiveGFree makes all sorts of "gluten...

They make the claim that they are gluten-free but the website Verywell.com, this site rocks and is updated regularly, said that they can be cross contaminated. Anybody ever give these fries a try with any success?

Just opened in Cincinnati, Oh: Ma and Pa's Gluten Free Cafe. Dedicated gluten-free restaurant. I had the pizza hoagie and onion rings last night. I forgot just how oily onion rings were. They sat in my stomach like concrete all night long but tasted great. Next time I'm getting the pizza or pulled pork with slaw and fries.

Skyline Chili, gluten-free or not?
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nope, had the flu and this has happened before when I ate the chili. JMG, I read the deadspin article. It's pretty funny. First, at least we're not bull testicles(Montana), and second, Skyline is the only one claiming to be gluten-free besides Hormel(sucks) and Amy's(sucks) that is Cincinnati style. There are many other local chili's but none are gluten-free... -
Getting sicker
pdm1981 replied to Wendy d's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Smaller meals throughout the day should help. I had the same problem but if it keeps up you may need to see the doctor again and get surgery. Anti-acids may help out too. It's been about 10 years since I had mine. Good luck. -
Nobody posted anything on my profile that I'm aware of but it wouldn't let me get into it. My email got hacked though right around the same time so I just figured it was connected. I'm not exactly Y2K ready. This is the first computer I ever bought and I still have a flip phone. Maybe it's not connected. Don't really know.
-
My original email and profile got hacked and I couldn't get into it anymore so I created this one. I noticed that this was 13 yrs old afterwards. Thats what I get for putting up a post at 3am. I was up because I'm having a reaction to something and that's why I got on this site. It's been a long night. I think it is the Skyline canned chili I ate. I wish...

Skyline Chili, gluten-free or not?
pdm1981 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree 100% but in that disclaimer they said in a restaurant setting. They sell canned chili in the local stores so I would think that I should be okay. I've tried to make my own chili but the problem is that I suck. I'm a horrible cook. Gordon Ramsey would probably slap me in the face. Cincinnati style chili is different from most chili out there too. There... -
I live in Cincinnati. One thing we are known for is chili and a horrible football team. I was wondering if anyone had one of those gluten detectors and how they work because I would love to test them. They claim to be gluten-free and even state that in their restaurants there is a high probability for CC. I even wrote the company several times but no reply...
