  1. Ok, I have to get it together. After 11 years of militant gluten free eating, not eating out or eating processed food I glutened myself. I have not eaten chocolate since I was first diagnosed and this Halloween I caved. My memory failed me on what chocolate is gluten free. I should have looked it up. I know this is because I turned 50 and am feeling a bit...
  2. I was diagnosed in 2007 and had food fear and fear of starving right away. I found because I am Silent I could not rely on having symptoms to tell me that something labeled gluten free was not. At that time legislation for testing had not been ratified. So I still contacted farms and manufactuers to double and triple check there was no cross contamination...
  3. I have an emergency stock of Libbys Naturals Peas and Green Beans. Also use Del Monte no Salt Green Beens and Sweet Peas. Read ingredients carefully because some canned foods add some preservatives and flavors. I find the same with canned fish and meats. I buy my canned fish at Vital Choice but also have found Bumblebee sardines and tuna in water or Beachclif...
  4. I lost 70 lbs in the first year. Water retention weight and inflammation. My blood work was normal in 6 months. I wish i had a full vitamin panel done. Took years to find my folic acid, D3, B2 and K2 crashed. When I stopped eating processed food I stopped getting all the vitamins they are fortified with because they are trash food. Also went to nutritionist...
  5. I have numerous food intollerences and chemical limits so I made my own prep for the 36 hours. I used Miralax and Dulcoax with homemade vegetable broth which I strained to almost clear but slightly yellow. Also apple juice. I would drink broth for many small meals every few hours and apple juice between. I was eliminating pure liquid the day of and Dr said...
  6. I found water to be a problem early on as well. Tap water chemicals gives me gi distress and additives like magnesium to bottled waters does it too. I drank distilled water for years until I read about acidic ph and water. I saw a youtube where waters were tested and alkaline were better for the body. I bought some ph strips and tested a few non additive...
  7. I was diagnosed in 2007 and went gluten free immediately however even a year later I was having problems like you describe. I went on an illmination diet. I got to 10 foods only diet before my symptoms stopped. That diet was organic brown rice, organic sweet potato for carbs. Organic green beans and peas for veggie. Organic rasins, apples and peaches. Organic...
  8. I have sikent Celiac as well and I eat Cascadian Farms Organic one ingredient peas, carrots and green beans. I have never had an abnormal ttiga or crp from eating them. My pill cam and colonoscopy were immaculate while eating them. However maybe I have a higher tollerence number say 10 parts not 2 parts. No way to know. I try to buy fresh more and wash/steam...
  9. I found out I was MTHFR positive meaning I am not converting folic acid in foods. Also trouble absorbing B12 though that blood was normal. I am taking the methyl forms of these and have loads of energy now but the early years were exhausting because of healing. I wish I had nutritional help then. I bought Live wise liquid B12 methyl form and Life Extenstion...
  10. I have had this too. More the first years after diagnosis. Rice would go right through undigested. I found I have a problem with rice syrup and digestion. It is as bad as corn syrup unfortunatley. Even after 11 years and a clear colonoscopy and Pill Camera study of upper GI I still need to chew my food extra well for absorption. Thinking it is more the lack...
  11. I wish when I was diagnosed I had demanded a full vitamin panel to start. This shows the level of malnutrition and malabsorption so you can pinpoint supplements to help you while your gi heals. All the processed food is enriched with vitamins so it is a big change to eat natural clean food. Eventually when I lucked into good doctors I found some typical issues...
  12. I have been militant gluten free for 11 years so far no positive tests since diagnosis however that is not my biggest challenge. In had an iron stomach before diagnosis with silent celiac. Since gluten-free the food intollerences went wild. I went down to 10 foods and balanced my gi. Slowly i tried one food at a time. Found over the years the FODMAP diet...
  13. I had terrible gas which was sharp because of all my endometriosis scar tissue. Going on the FODMAP diet eliminating specific fruits, vegetables and legumes was like magic. Wish probiotics helped more but they only take the edge off. I still have to limit portion size and amount daily of leafy greens or the gas is back.
  14. Are there any certified gluten free bamboo toothbrushes other have had good expierences with? Is there any chance gluten is used in the binding manufacturing?
  15. I am 50 and was diagnosed 11 years ago as Silent Celiac. Fisrt i watched my undiagnosed father suffer from all the multisystem diseases that happen when eating gluten with Celiac. He passed of cardiac arrest at 62. I must say that it was hard to change my eating i our culture. That said my health is better than i can recall. I did not have bad GI effects...
  16. Me too. No typical symptoms at all, not even anemia. Had lots of malnutrition symptoms and organ issues like kidney stones. Was obese with no serious GI effects. I Notice i no longer have sinus infections or congestion. My skin and hair are better as well as losing 90 lbs of obese weight. I had no idea how to cook healthy and started by buying gluten free...
  17. Yes to little or no symptoms. At least not necissarily commonly talked about ones. I have Silent Celiac which is regular Celiac but my symptoms were light food intollerences. I went to 4 Gatroenterologists and they al missed it. They ask if there is weight loss or loose bowel but I had weight gain and constipation. Sounds like most people right? However I...
  18. Since going gluten-free 11 yrs ago I have not been tolerating baking soda or chemicals, dyes in food. I get burning pain in my stomach. I stopped eating processed food when this started.
  19. I had a naropath do a stool analysis and found i had no bifida bacterium. After taking high quality probiotics the bloat and gas were much better when eating leafy greens and fruits. Beans can be a culprit. Soy seems to be added to everything now. I dont do dairy for inflamation reasons.
  20. Hi, yes when first diagnosed I was corn intollerent. 11 years later I can handle organic non gmo corn the best. I can eat about half all the many foods I was intollerent to now. I can not tolerate citric acid in any form natural or synthetic. I get bladder pain and infection from citric or ascorbic acid. I have bad reactions to some synthetic products like...
  21. I approached my diagnosis in a proactive way. My mother had uterine cancer and father passed from cardiac arrest. Both had an unhealthy relationship with food and diseases that come with it. I have turned my mortality rate and life around by learning to eat for living life not for fun. I tell people that being diagnosed actually saved my life in more than...
  22. I had about 70 lbs of water inflamation on me when diagnosed and lost it the first year gluten free. What was once soreness all over became nerve pain when doing repetative motion with any limb that had previous injury or past repetative use like my hands. For years i did tests. Nerve tests with needles in the muscle, but no neuropathy. I even did a brain...
  23. I was hospitalized i 98 with symptoms and had colonoscopy and endoscopy but both missed it. Was told i might have chrones but unsure. I was discharged with steroids which i did not take. Saw 2 more gastros and they said it didnt seem like chrones but IBS. Put me in psyc and on antidepressants. Went along like this with lots of strange seemingly unrelated...
  24. I have many chemical allergies as well as mint and dyes. I buy Andrea Rose gluten free vanilla toithpaste. It does have floride. Get great dental checkups and since going gluten free my gums are not bleeding. Andrea Rose is for fibromyalgia salicylite free but they are gluten free as well. Found the only dye free guiafenison from them too. They sell makeup...
  25. Yes i had those symptoms. A full vitamin panel is helpful. Once i stopped processed food i missed out on added vitamins. Mix that will poor absorption and i had malnutrition even worse. Tip is to start with single vitamins not multi. Fewest additives possible. I loke brands like NOW, Life Extension, Solgar, Bulk Vitamin Powders. Liquid firms can be helpful...
