  1. I, too, was diagnosed in 1980. I was lucky that my mother cooked everything for me from scratch. I also feel lucky that I can have potatoes. I'm sorry for this extra limitation!
  2. If you are lucky enough to be diagnosed young and if you stick to a strict gluten free diet, most people will not need to heed these pieces of advice. Being strict with a gluten free diet is the most important thing. I've heard way too many people say, "It only upsets me a little", or, "I can get away with a taste".
  3. I hope this is reassuring: I was diagnosed at 18 months old in the early 80s. While it was disappointing to go to friends' birthdays and miss out from time-to-time etc. there are advantages to being diagnosed so young - especially in terms of not knowing what you're missing out upon. And with places like 110 Grill popping up, things are definitely better...
  4. Hives suggests you have dermititis herpitformis as well as coeliac disease. Interesting.

  6. When my now-wife and I went to Venice (where I proposed) we stumbled upon this restaurant quite by accident.
