  1. Hi. Thanks. I've tried several of Dr. Praeger's burgers and haven't liked them. I haven't tried Hilary's yet, but have it on my shopping list. (The online grocery store [that delivers... I don't drive] only has one of her gluten-free burgers, though she makes quite a few.). I hope I like it! I do like Praeger's Nuggets & Tenders...
  2. Does anyone know if Gardein still makes their "Garden Veggie Burger? I can't find information about it, online, and the website says "Page not found" (or something similar). It's my favorite Veggie Burger and will be so disappointed if it's no longer available. And, if it's not available, any suggestions for a similar tasting substitute? ...
  3. LOL! You're right! Oh well! ?
  4. From everything I've read about spelt, it is not gluten-free, but it contains less gluten than other wheat. You say the product was "labeled" gluten-free -- I wonder if gluten can be washed out, somehow? I bought a product, a year or so ago, that used spelt instead of traditional wheat flour. I had a bad reaction to it and made a note to avoid it...
  5. Thank you, both, for replying and thank you, cyclinglady, for the link. I read the article -- it doesn't mention celiac, but it does mention lupus, which I (also) have. It was enlightening. Thank you (again). Just after I posted my question, above, a friend sent a link to another article. It mentions the connection between celiac and Sjogrens...
  6. I have had celiac for several years with a lot of the well-known symptoms -- pain, rash, etc. But, only last night, on a medical TV drama, did I hear that "no tearing" (the inability to create tears when crying) is a symptom of celiac. In a search, this morning, I was unable to find the symptom mentioned relating to celiac. About the same type I started...
  7. I'm a naturalist -- I don't use drugs, creams, etc. I do, however, scratch** the rash until I'm almost bleeding and then dump isopropyl alcohol in it -- that relieves the itch for quite some time. (Stings at first though.) I get the rashes on my legs. ANYWAY, I have found that a gluten-free diet is the only (or best) approach -- it's certainly the...
  8. I see the original post, and most replies, are old, but I thought I would weigh in as a vegetarian... for almost 25 years now. I wish you all good health!
  9. Hmmm, interesting. That's a good policy!
  10. Wow! That sounds promising! I'll look in to it. Thank you so much!
  11. I notice quite a few "vegan" recipes here. I am vegetarian. I am wondering if any of you use, or have tried using, "Textured Vegetable Protein" (TVP) or "Textured Soy Protein" in your recipes. Does it cause any of the stomach pain, or other side effects, associated with celiac? These proteins, as I understand it, are produced much the same way that gluten...
