My grandma gave me the instruction book to her crock pot and I don't know if this is what you are looking for but it's STUPID EASY!!!! and you do it in the crock pot! YAY i love a good crock pot recipe!!!!
Creamy Scalloped Potates
2 pounds potatoes
1 small onion thinly sliced
1/4 cup flour (i just used plain ol' rice flour and it was geat)
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tbs butter
1 103/4 ounce cream of mushroom soup
4 slices american cheese (i used an entire big bag of shredded cause I LOVE CHEESE!!)
Cut up taters. Toss them in 1 cup water and 1/2 tsp of cream of tartar. drain. put half of sliced taters in greased crock pot. top with 1/2 the inion, flour, salt and pepper. add remaining sliced potatoes and inions and sprinkle with remaining flour. add butter and soup on tip top and cover and cook on low for 7-9 hoursor high for 3-4 hours. add cheese 30 min before serving.

Clearly, I was comparing circus peanuts to Jesus....NO! Not even, I was just pointing out how hard it would be as a kid and I couldn't imagine it!
I just wanted to point out rejection of a celiac from a well respected person, it sucks. That's that and yes, get over it!
-
yep, thought this would happen....
first off: I"m not here to bash anyone!!! I think we should sit back (yes I read the article and there were many that I read) and think about the message we are sending to kids.
I got Celiac as an adult THANK GOD!!! I could NEVER imagine having it as a kid. I wasn't really in the cool group in early elementary school, not to mention as a toddler/youngin' my parents were in the circus and we were always eating on the road and eating mac and cheese and easy to cook food. Having parents that ate on the road with a kid that's a celiac, not to mention that means no circus peanuts or pretzels!??! no thanks!
but LISTEN to the message we are sending the kids when they get denied communion. yes, i know it's sacred, i believe that too, but I don't understand the big deal between wheat and rice, it's the UNDERSTANDING of the communion that is the most important, not the wine, or grape juice or whatever cracker you have. We are reading into it too much and missing the point of what it's ABOUT.

Yes, I'm all for keeping traditions but COME THE &^%$ ON times are changing and we need to adjust to it. If people are allergic, find a replacement, it's NOT brain surgery!!! Sometimes we have to tweek things. People are so terrified of change, get over it!
Yes, it's a very holy tradition but denying people communion because they are allergic!? ARE WE HEARING OURSELVES!??!!? You are saying to kids "you can't have this and you aren't normal or holy cause you are allergic to gluten and are diseased!"
Here is my big question;
If you are a recovering alcoholic and your church serves wine, do you drink the wine or is there another option.....say grape juice?!
And for the person who said that this has been discussed over and over....get over yourself! it happens all the time on these boards! Like the topic of what kind of flour to use or what do you feel when you get glutened? But just because it's about church we can't discuss it over and over? are you hearing yourself?
Yes, I know I'm "offending" people but for crying out loud this is retarded!
THIS MEDIA ATTENTION IS GREAT GREAT GREAT FOR US!!! (yes, also bugs me that they call it rare....have you been to the grocery store lately? there is gluten-free pasta at most of them now....I don't call that rare...it's as rare as a lactos intollerant thing!)

I LOVE Bette's Artichoke Dip and it's always a HUGE hit and stupid easy to make!
1 mid. size jar of mayo
1 can parm cheese
1 small can diced chillies
1 can artichokes
slice artichokes and put everything into a bowl and mix well. throw into a 8 inch pamed pyrex and bake for 30 min at 350.
serve with corn chips.

I don't work out, I walk (I live in NYC) and I prefer Daughtry. His new album is GREAT for getting you going! The new Carrie Underwood is pretty rockin' too! and no....I'm so not an American Idol fan!

I just paid a TON of $ over my insurance to have my endometreosis "fixed" and i didn't have my period for about 8 months....I'd pay a million dollars to never have it again. So all I have to do is loose weight and you loose your period too?!?! That's a DOUBLE bonus! BUT is it healthy?

Hello Everyone,
This afternoon I tried looking for some gluten free soy sauce and I could not find any. I tried calling Trader Joe's, Mrs. Green's, and Whole Foods. Whole Food's said that they had a substitute called Amino's or something but not the San-J that they said they had on their list. Mrs. Green's said that they had wheat free but not gluten free soy sauce and explained that even though it is wheat free it probably has some other gluten ingredient in it. When I went to Mrs. Green's I did not find any wheat free soy sauce. I called up Kari Out and they said the nearest store that sells it is in Connecticut and I live in Yonkers, NY. I cannot believe that in Westchester County and NYC I cannot find a gluten free soy sauce. I called the Whole Foods in Union Square NYC and they said do not bother calling the other stores we have wheat but not gluten free soy sauce. The first one I called was in White Plains. Does anyone know where I can get any type of gluten free soy sauce in Westchester County or NYC?
I can find the gluten-free soy sauce in my C'town. i'm in Astoria. I also have found it at Whole Foods. Don't waste your time calling, you have to GO IN and find things.

ANYTIME!!!!
I have found that Bette Hangmans works best for me thus far.
it's:
2 parts rice flour
2/3 part potato starch
1/3 part tapioca flour
for those of you who are like me and really bad at math:
6 cups rice flour
2 cups potato starch
1 cup tapioca flour
I have also thrown in a handfull of almond flour to the stash to get almond flavor in there, it works but makes it more "bricky" and chewy.
I have also tried bettes potato flour mix:
3 3/4 cups rice flour
3 cups tapioca flour
2 1/4 cups potato starch
there is also her featherlight mix: (good for baking)
3 cups rice flour
3 cups tapioca flour
3 cups cornstarch
3 tbs potato flour
I also throw in a teaspoon or 2 of xanthan gum. FYI xanthan gum seems like it will break the bank but you only use a tiny bit and a bag should last you a month or 2.
For cookies I only use rice flour, it's CHEAP and does fine, but only for cookies.

I HEART MAGNERS!!!! It's been my drink of choice for a while now!!!

For 99% of things it's a brick and grainy. It's hard to get things just right. I have found making my own flour mixes is BY FAR the best, and most cost efficient way to go about things. Not to mention if you are allergic to almost everything you don't have to worry about reading labels as much. Welcome to brickbread land!

I GET GLUTEN HANGOVERS TOOOOOOO!!!!!! I HATE them! my entire life I wake up feeling like that and then when i was old enough to drink I thought....well what everyone calls a "hangover".. i feel that way EVERY DARN DAY! ugh! Now it's better and I just get "real" hangovers!
I'm still on my meds and will continue to do so, my moods have been way out of whack the past week cause I got sloppy about taking them every day and now I'm miserable. Learned that lesson there, note to self: take meds everyday!

Everything turned out GREAT! I made a peach cobbler for my bf and he tried it and it was very chewy and hard. We laughed cause he couldn't cut it with a fork! He just stabbed the entire piece and tried to bite off it but it was like watching someone eating stale beef jerky!!! i have food and desserts for days so I'm calling all my friends to come over for a feast!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!!

OK guys, a few weeks ago my best friend was over and I wanted mac and cheese BAD. I would kill for the crappy kraft blue box with the powered cheese...mmmm. WELL i found something that beats it!!!
The recipe sounds odd, i know but it's great! It's from Alton Brown on Food tv and I have to say he does a LOT of things that can easily be gluten-free! I throw in a dash of red pepper and extra peprika. I don't do the topping. I also let the cheese sit on the stove a tad longer then it says too and it's KILLER!!! I'm not going to put gluten-free on this recipe...it's sort of obvious that we are....well....all gluten-free! HA! LOL
1/2 pound elbow macaroni
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon powdered mustard
3 cups milk
1/2 cup yellow onion, finely diced
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 large egg
12 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Fresh black pepper
Topping:
3 tablespoons butter
1 cup panko bread crumbs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large pot of boiling, salted water cook the pasta to al dente.
While the pasta is cooking, in a separate pot, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and mustard and keep it moving for about five minutes. Make sure it's free of lumps. Stir in the milk, onion, bay leaf, and paprika. Simmer for ten minutes and remove the bay leaf.
Temper in the egg. Stir in 3/4 of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Fold the macaroni into the mix and pour into a 2-quart casserole dish. Top with remaining cheese.
Melt the butter in a saute pan and toss the bread crumbs to coat. Top the macaroni with the bread crumbs. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and rest for five minutes before serving.
Remember to save leftovers for fried Macaroni and Cheese.

my mom has sjogrens! If you read Dr. Greens book it talks about it. BUT she was having spine issues and they said you have sjogrins...that's the excitement there...
She has cronic dry eye, mouth and skin. She also suffers from arthritis that is very similar to rhumatiod. She also gets cronic fatigue.
There is a huge support group in the san diego area for it...try googleing support groups and posting there!
That's all I got for you....hope this helped.

I have done this when I did weight watchers. It tastes GREAT!! but i don't remember the difference in measurements...try weightwatchers.com
-
i meant white rice flour
and it's all about the timing, 7 min, turn 180 for another 7 min and let sit out for 5 min
-
I have made these and they turned out GREAT.
just use normal rice flour in stead of wheat flour, same measurments.
Then use soy milk instead of milk milk. they are GREAT!

Ok i decided to make peanut butter cookies with the natural pb, and they came out terrible, the first batch i made i burnt the second batch is all gross and crumbly, what can i do to fix them to not be so crumbly. I have an batch now in the over for peanut butter bars, and im going to put jelly on top, i hope these turn out better, but what can i do for the cookies.
Also i was going to make sugar cookies, i have an box mix and just need to add butter or margarine, what can i add that is gluten casein and soy free instead, i cant find any butter here that is safe of all three.
I also was wondering if i can use that sugar cookie dough and turn it into biscochitos, u know the cookies with cinammon, i was thinking of just adding cinnamon to the recipe, but not sure if that would work, i did an search for gluten free biscochitos but nothing came up.
I am in such a lousy mood right now, im tempted just to make regualr christmas cookies, but i know that wont be a good thing lol.
paula
I don't know if i'm MUCH help but I have found for cookies and ONLY cookies cheap ass Goya rice flour works GREAT! The Alton Brown sugar cookies recipe is on foodtv.com and i take that and replace the flour with rice flour and the milk with soy milk...(yah, i know not that helpful) but maybe you can replace it with some other form of milk....i know nothing about casein really...ah! this is hard!
BUT for all my cookies i put rice flour in for flour, it does not rise but that's fine and in the sugar cookies i think it's WAY better then normal flour, stays softer longer and it's just mmmm mmm good!
Also try brushing your cookies with milk before you put them in the oven (or whatever you use for milk), it makes them not brown and stay beautiful.
Have you tried just adding a touch of water to the crumbly cookies? I have done that before and it worked great!
try adding cinnamon, you got nothing to loose (except the $20 you spent on flour to make the damn things!)
I hope I was some kind of help and good luck!!
