sddave replied to sddave's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A beer making friend at work knows this guy who's celiac and adds a drop of two to his beer. Says it doesn't alter the taste. https://whitelabs.com/other-products/wln4000-clarity-ferm -
Gluten test for alcoholic beverages?

I was reading that wheat paste could be used to seal the barrel. Artificial coloring in some whiskey's are allowed that could have gluten. Like scotch and rums. -

So disappointed. -
I live in earthquake CA. After recently being diagnosed and seeing Harvey I was wondering what are good gluten free disaster kits or options. I'm looking for meals that will fill me up like a regular (or close to) meals and will last for at least two weeks. I see some on Amazon. But wondering if there are more lower cost options out there from...

Know what you mean. Between doctors visits and expensive gluten-free food it's hard for me to save money for retirement nowdays. I feel gluten-free food prices are too high for the quantity. Feel we are being taken advantage of from our disease by the producers. Hopefully the Amazon acquisition of Whole Foods will force down prices of all gluten...

I've been tested for vitamin deficiencies and everything is normal so I stopped taking vitamin. Stopped taking probiotics since they didn't seem to help either. I'm currently not taking anything except an occasional Pepto Bismol or Tums. I mostly now just learned to live with it. I cut out most of my coffee except maybe a half cup in the morning a...

I haven't been responding well after three months on gluten-free diet. I'm almost always have loose stool in morning after eating breakfast. I've tried different cereals and every milk except rice. Also, I have a lot of digestive issues from cramping to reflux (dizziness, heart palpitations, etc). My stomach almost never feels without pain. So...

Need help with a cereal (Corn free)
sddave replied to sddave's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Love bacon and eggs but don't think it would be a good idea to eat it everyday Not sure about oats. I didn't handle KIND Raspberry Granola (w/oats) well. But that was when I was adding milk. -
Before being diagnosed I was almost a 100% Raisin Brain cereal eater. So I switched to Bakery on Main, Gluten Free Granola. I was having nausea, lose stool, and would get dizzy about 30 min. after eating it. Doc said to switch to Soy milk. That didn't really help either. Now I just put water in it. But I think the corn in it is also causing me...

After 3.5 mo. on gluten free diet I've been struggling a series of issues. All blood work for vitamins and minerals are in range and my kidney is functioning properly. But I'm getting very lightheaded/vertigo at times...gets worse while driving (even after having a snack). I'm also having muscle twitching, stomach cramping, acid reflux (I think)...

Stomach cramping.
sddave replied to sddave's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
After switching to Soy milk after doc. suggested to get rid of loose stool and nausea, I suffered massive stomach cramping. After that, I'm afraid to try almond milk in my cereal. Now if I could only figure out why I get dizzy so much and have heart palpitations! None of my blood work has shown any vitamin or mineral deficiencies. -

Stomach cramping.
sddave replied to sddave's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My doctor said this week because my nausea and loose stool after eating gluten-free cereal with 1% milk I should switch to soy or almond milk. He said there's an enzyme in cow milk that causes malabsorption. Wish my GI doctor would of told me this when I was diagnosed three months ago. Switching seems to be working after a couple of days. He also said... -
Stomach cramping.

I'm positive I didn't have gluten. I think I'm having trouble digesting my food. Most meals don't go down easily for me since I started going gluten free....except eggs. I read about people taking digestive enzymes here. But don't know if I should try them. Could be stress related. -
I have bad stomach cramping with growling recently. My body still hates my new gluten-free diet!! What gluten free OTC do you take for this?

For those in SD or visiting, I found 2Good2B since being diagnosed. It's all gluten free, soy free, and corn free small restaurant chain. They have a good select of breakfast, lunch/dinner meals. Have a few lunches and were very good. Breads, cupcakes, and even saw wedding cake...haven't tried any. But when ordering meals you must be patient. Since...
