  1. I noticed the post for gluten-free alcoholic beverages. But what is everyone's favorite non-alcoholic gluten-free beverage? (And if anyone has any that are also soy and corn free, please share.) I usually drink water, and love my morning coffee (and sometimes at night). But especially in the summer, I like something thirst quenching, and it seems things...
  2. Sounds good. My family always did the Khalua and milk on holidays. I found it is amazing pouring into a small glass and adding cream on top, that floats on top, and you sip it, but too many fat and calories to do that often, but what a treat. I only cooked with it once. We used to have a Khalua little cookbook and I tried the glazed nuts one Christmas....
  3. Also now wondering if any of you have trouble with vegetable cellulose? Or dicalcium phosphate? It feels like this is becoming never ending. I saw one article online saying dicalcium can cause stomach issues for some people. I wonder in how much? Like if in a vitamin supplement might not be that much. I just bought a bottle of folic acid the other day...
  4. Thanks for that info. So far I had messaged Barefoot Wines and they said their beverages are gluten-free. I love their pink champagne for special occasions. So basically most wines should be safe and gluten-free?
  5. I was wondering if Kahlua was okay. This is good to know. Right now with my blood pressure and pulse issues, I am avoiding alcohol, but I hope to eventually be able to take a little drink once in a while again. And have always wanted to try a mojito and am glad we can also have rum. Any particular brands of vodka you use that you know are safe?
  6. Thanks so much for letting me know. Okay, that is one ingredient I can handle then. Yay! Now to remember what products had it that I can now eat.
  7. Thanks for the info. I was hoping to find some sort of safe bouillon product. Why is all the healthy stuff so expensive though. Is it a good size jar? 10 or so oz doesn't seem like that much for the price.
  8. I know many people who can't have gluten also can't have other things (like soy, corn, dairy). I have been trying to avoid soy lately. I saw something online mentioning that even if you can't eat soy, that you can eat things with soy lecithin in it. Anyone here not able to eat soy, but are okay with things that include soy lecithin? (I feel so confused...
  9. Thanks for the info. It sure would be nice if doctors would learn more about this and be able to help guide us better. Seems like I am meeting more and more people with different types of digestive issues, not all with gluten, but many, and some with other issues they have been struggling with and going through many tests, but still with no help or answers...
  10. That's true. I just missed some flavored coffees though and thought it'd be nice to find something with some flavor. I have not tried them yet though because I can't find a single store in my town that sells the new Artisan Cafe ones. I did see some made with coconut milk or almond milk that I might try. And these new Artisan Cafe ones seem like they are...
  11. Nature Made still has not gotten back to me about their Cholestoff, but did get back to me about their folic acid. "We recently received your email regarding Nature Made Folic Acid 400 mcg. We appreciate your question concerning the ingredients in this product. Nature Made Folic Acid 400 mcg is gluten free and does not contain soy. However, the product...
  12. Wow, I am losing it. I didn't even read all the ingredients and didn't realize there was oat in it. If it doesn't bother you, maybe it won't bother me. I will have to pay attention to that. I can't believe I forgot to read all the ingredients. I must be getting tired. So, I just read the ingredients to the imitation classic crab, and it has soy. I did have...
  13. I just wanted to share a new gluten-free snack I found. It's by a company called Trans Ocean. They are seafood snack sticks. Zero fat, low cholesterol, and a nice source of protein. A local store had them in the sale flyer for $1 each (normally 4 packs for $5). I am trying to find snacks and protein and low cholesterol, low fat items, so this was perfect...
  14. Thanks for the heads up on the maltodextrin could cause cramping. It would be great to get a little mood lift. I have been on a beta blocker for blood pressure the past few months and I hate how I feel on it. I looked up side effects and it mentioned it can cause depression. I haven't felt totally depressed, but I've been easily irritated, bad mood, sometimes...
  15. I had originally not noticed it said gluten free. I had been looking near the ingredients since I tend to often see products list any allergens it contains after the ingredients, or say gluten-free after it, or on the front. But I just looked more and sure enough, it does say it. It doesn't mention soy free though. But I don't notice anything in the ingredients...
  16. Oh, so maybe it's the horseradish. That stinks if it is. More and more things I like are being cut out of my diet. I will try it again someday when my stomach feels okay to see how it goes. That will be a bummer if I can't have it anymore. Thanks for info on the vinegar. It's helpful to know that was not it.
  17. Thanks for the brand names. I always worry about making stuff like that, as you say, timing and getting rancid or if I mess up and it goes bad. And I'm so exhausted lately, I do home cooking, but any short cuts I can get lately, I am all for that.
  18. Does anyone have good luck if ingesting anything with maltodextrin? I saw one article saying it can be on the worry list, but that actually it should be safe because of the way it's processed. I am needing to find a folic acid supplement that is gluten-free and also soy-free. I found Nature Made's and the ingredients are: folic acid, calcium (as calcium...
  19. Thanks Thanks for helping to clarify. So always be sure to check that any vinegar we use says distilled on it, and then we should be okay? I would have no idea if the Passover vinegar was distilled or not. I guess I can try the horseradish again someday when my stomach is feeling better and see if I get a similar reaction or not. My only other...
  20. Thanks for that info and the links. I was going to make some quiche this weekend and only use a few egg yolks and the rest all whites, so thank you for that tip to add stuff to it. I do have some coconut flour already, so will try that. Do you know of any brands of dairy-free yogurts that might be healthy (as in low cholesterol, low fat or at least...
  21. That is a great idea using mushrooms for little pizza bites. And I love worcestershire sauce. I will have to look into that beef and burger seasoning. I have not tried the miracle noodle yet. I found a white rice noodle at a local store that has been pretty good. Your goulash sounds really good. I am not sure about my cholesterol. I think I really...
  22. Thanks for that info. So pretty much most vinegar except malt vinegar is okay for people who can't have gluten?
  23. Does anyone know anything about Passover vinegar? We made cocktail sauce this weekend and I found a new brand of horseradish and the only ingredients are horseradish root, Passover vinegar, and salt. I thought vinegar was safe because of the way it's processed, but maybe I understood that incorrectly? Is some vinegar safe and some that still contains gluten...
  24. Fisher says they often check their gluten-free items to make sure they are gluten-free. It's hard to trust sometimes though until you've heard other people say they used them and are fine with them. Artichokes are weird looking, for sure. I only cooked whole ones once. They were good, but I just never bothered again. But my daughter and I really...
