Thank you for your advice. That certainly sounds like an effective answer. THis is in a nutshell what I need as giving an inteligent or more lengthy answer results in crazy and condescending dialogue from the co worker! THAnks so much! ?
I don’t go around blasting the news of my restriction, yet there are certain times when I need to let people know I can’t have certain food. The office potluck, birthday cake time, visits to others homes. Yes I’m so blown away by the support I get from friends and family but when people do comment on gluten intolerance, it’s fast and furious ignorance. I will...
Well thanks everyone seriously. I'm sure this will get better and I'm thankful this reaction is normal. So guilty when I think of others worse off than me. I will read and read and read until I've taught myself to feel better. And then help others ((((hugs all around)))
I found out roughly 3 -4 months ago by accident that I am gluten sensitive. One day I woke up and had joint pain in just about every joint on my left side. ie, elbow, wrist, knuckles, hip, knee, ankle and feet. I was already having issues with intense foot pain that I mistook for plantar fasciitis. Once I googled the symptoms, and realized ALL of several...
I ate there July 23 2017, had cheeseburger with gluten free bun (charged extra 2 dollars) which tasted very good. dressed burger with tomato, pickles and onion and even mayo with no unpleasant affects. I appreciated the choice of gluten-free bun. Also, the young man serving us asked if I wanted my French fries on the same plate as my burger, I guess their...
Well, thank you for replying. Yes, I would also like to know and have a certain "validation" but I will go on to eat gluten free. Thank you for the idea of keeping a food diary. I was keeping one for weight loss, but I guess my primary focus will be gluten-free as well. I'm sorry you had to eat gluten just to find out both tests were negative. That was...
***UPDATE*** 7/17/2017 I went into the doctor and was told my insurance wouldn't pay for the blood test unless I was anemic (I am not) or I have a family history. I was also told that without insurance this test is expensive 300 or 400 dollars. At this point I think I will just do my best to just not eat any gluten and pray my health won't suffer. The...
Oh wow thank you for this information. There is just so much to learn that I wouldn't have guessed it could be so complicated. You mentioned gum disease...my teeth have always been bad I really do wonder how this will affect them. I wish you the best in following your diet. Thank you for your support and well wishes.
Hi Awol, Wow you really go through a lot! I can imagine you have somewhat of a relief actually finding out it's not IBS so that you could at least know... I'm tired of being so careful thanks so very much for your welcome!!!
Thanks JMG, I just posted a question about Celiac testing. I had hoped to get tested next week for the blood tests, have an appointment Monday. Thanks for the heads up about the thread being older. I'm just so excited and happy that I am learning more about what's wrong with me and all the support of course. Thank you!
I recently became aware that I have been Gluten Intolerant. I began immediately eating gluten-free even though it's a large learning curve, and I fail often to eliminate gluten from my diet. This results in symptoms such as swelling of the belly, joint pain, anxiety, almost within 30 min or less, then other times I will have Migraines, foot pain, diarrhea...
Within 30 minutes, my belly will swell up, and I will appear pregnant even though I am in my 50's. I will also have moderate pain in my feet, but more so in the right foot. These are the two immediate things that stick out to me. Since I am new to the gluten-free lifestyle, everyday, I mess up and eat something wrong! It's highly frustrating. Later...
