  1. In a couple of weeks I will be driving to NYC to visit The Gluten Free Expo in New Jersey and to celebrate my 50th birthday. I have never been to NYC and would love to hear about great places to eat with 4 teens. Two of my sons have peanut and nut allergies and my daughter has been recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Also, I am Canadian and I am not familiar...
  2. Yes, our brown rice krispies in canada are gluten free...thanks for suggestion.
  3. Doritos in Canada have gluten free on the packaging. There are definitely a staple in our house with 4 kids 13-21. Unfortunately, my daughter who is the one with Celiac has never liked them, so it is in the house as an extra gluten-free food for her brothers to enjoy. I am only six weeks into the diet and have crossed the border to the US to find gluten...
  4. Last week I was so excited to find glutenfree bbq sauce at Costco (Ontario, Canada). As my house has only been gluten-free for six weeks, I have yet to find replacements for all my old favouties. The sauce is made by Guy Fieri from the food channel. The cost was 10 dollars for two bottles, I was happy! The sauce was totally delicious and i went back to...
  5. Hi, My 13 year old daughter has recently been diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I was wondering if there is any support group in the GTA. We live in Richmond Hill and would be willing to travel if such a support group existed.
  6. We are only a month and a half with our gluten free diet and one thing we are definitely missing is chocolate. We live in Canada and have yet to find a chocolate bar that we can eat. We were excited to find that Smarties in the US were okay, but upon further investigation we learned that Smarties in the US are what we call Rockets in Canada and are not chocolate...
  7. Yes, the ones I have are the brown rice krispies. My 13 year old daughter was just diagnosed with Celiac. Two of my other children have allergies to peanuts and nuts. Has anyone come across any other good cereals available in Canada that are both gluten and nut free? Many of the gluten-free products I find either contain nuts or have a peanut/nut warning...
  8. I am from Canada and we were told at our Children's Hospital NOT to eat Cheerios. We were so excited that we had one box of cereal in our cupboard that has been a staple in my house for over 20 years that we were going to be able to keep. Then we were told that while they are considered gluten free and have it on the box, they are not safe for people with...
  9. Thank you for your reassurance. This is all so new and I feel like I am on the computer researching whenever I can about celiac and now also about osteopenia. Thanks again, I will look at the newbie 101 and coping now!
  10. My 13 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with celiac disease through blood work, endoscopy and biopsy. We recently went for a bone density test and we were informed she also has osteopenia. Any advice would be appreciated.
