  1. Hi again! Im thinking of trying the gluten free diet to see if my symptoms improve at all, since testing is difficult for me. I can’t start right away as most of the food in my house conrains gluten, and all cookware has been used for cooking with gluten foods as well. But I would like to know what ingredients to look out for when I go grocery shopping n...
  2. I don’t know what bromine detoxification is, but those pictures of my rash were taken before I did the iodine patch test, if that makes a difference.
  3. Thanks squirmingitch! I think I will talk to my doctor and try to push him for a referral to a dermatologist. And if i can’t get a referral I’ll probably try going gluten free and see if it improves at all. The last time I don’t think I went gluten free long enough for the rash to clear up.
  4. Here are a few pictures of my rash now that I figured out how to shrink the file size
  5. Thanks for the links squirmingitch! The time I had a c section and ended up with a rash after and was itchy all over, it was not in the area iodine would have been applied. But does that mean the patch test doesn’t work? If it can cause a rash in people without DH?
  6. Thank you for your replies everyone! Raven, as a child I always used peroxide so I can’t compare, but I know for surgery I never had a reaction to iodine if it was used to clean the skin. Although 2.5 years ago I had my second emergency c-section and when I woke up my whole body was itching like crazy! I asked the nurses why and they said they had g...
  7. I’ve been researching a lot lately and came across the iodine patch test, and how it may react to someone with DH. Ive been frustrated with blood tests as the only one I seem to be able to get here in Canada is the ttg iga which I tested negative for. I’m going to ask my doctor if there’s any way to get the other tests done(even if I have to pay) at m...
  8. Well I got my results in. The test that was done was tissue transglutaminase iga and my result was 0.5 and the lab range says under 12 is negative. It also states in the comments that they used a bioplex method which includes internal control to confirm iga is sufficient. So I assume that is the same as if they run a total iga, although it doesn’t tell m...
  9. Wow! It’s amazingly sad how many doctors seem to brush off their patients symptoms and results that point to obviously something being wrong! I guess I’m lucky that my doctor wanted to check my ferritin even though my hemoglobin was normal! I can totally relate to waiting so long to see a doctor! First time I went was after my first daughter was born (4i...
  10. I know this post is old but I’m so glad I found it! I haven’t been able to figure out how to post pictures on here, but my rash looks exactly like OPs pictures. It’s only on my back and shoulders though. But it gets extremely itchy, and when the blisters that I’ve scratched heal they seem to leave purplish marks behind. I’ve had this for years, although...
  11. Thank you for the replies! Thats awful your old doctor ignored your abnormal results vvicin02. So did it take 5 years for you to get diagnosed? That’s what I’m worried of, that my doctor may just try to treat my symptoms but not find the cause. He’s a great doctor but I don’t know how much he knows about celiac as I’ve never brought it up to him yet. ...
  12. Hi! I haven’t posted in awhile, still haven’t gotten a diagnosis but I’ve finally gone in to see my family doctor and hoping to get proper testing done. Awhile back I had some regular blood work done and my ferritin was low, at 27 (lab range said under 50 was probable iron deficiency) and one celiac test ttg iga which was negative. Recently I wen...
  13. Wow that sounds very high! I find it interesting how symptoms of high and low are similar. I hope things go well for you to with lowering your levels!!
  14. Thank you for the advice! I don’t really work out. My job has me moving and on my feet most of the day, but otherwise I’m so tired I find it hard to do much of anything. That’s a good idea! I’m not doing a challenge at the moment, haven’t tried eliminating gluten but after testing that will be the next step. It seems you guys had quite a bit low...
  15. Hi everyone! I recently decided to try seeing a naturopathic doctor, because I didn’t find conventional doctors were taking me seriously. I had my first visit with my new doctor yesterday, and it went pretty well. We talked about all my symptoms, after that she wanted to try pressing on tender points on my body, because she suspected a possibility o...
  16. So yesterday I went to a walk in doctor to see if my test results were in. They were normal but they only did one test for celiac ttg iga which was 3, range is 0-15. Since I was at the doctor I decided to mention my foot pain that started about about 3 weeks ago and my wrist pain which has been bothering me off and on for years but has been bad the past few...
  17. Thank you!! I’ve been googling since I got home from work and what I have on the back of my arms looks like “chicken skin” I believe. I did come across something interesting though! I saw some pictures of DH on fingers/hands and it looked exactly like what I get now and then. Sometimes I break out with a few very small bumps on my fingers and they will be in...
  18. I don’t know why this site won’t let me upload photos. I have bumps on the back of both arms, as well as my back both left and right side. They are red and sometimes more red than other times. I have noticed a few purplish or brownish spots too. It isn’t always itchy but does get itchy which causes it to get more irritated. It gets especially itchy after...
  19. I thought so! I will be asking her doctor when I make her appointment. Thank you
  20. I’d also like to add that when the doc got to the celiac part of her results (her liver and thyroid were tested too as well as tested for diabetes) he was like oh wait it does look like there’s some antibodies then he said but it seems to be in normal range. Then he printed it off for me so I can make her appointment with our family doctor
  21. So I went to the doctor as it’s been a week since my daughter had her blood work done. From reading posts on here I was under the impression it was 5 tests for celiac? I believe my daughter only had one. I will post a photo of her results. Also where the doc ordered my test it says “Gluten screen test with TTA screen please” will that be the full 5 tests...
  22. Thank you! Bullet points is a great idea, I always forget everything when I go to the doctor because of the anxiety. I have so many other symptoms too that I didn't think of before after reading a list of symptoms online. Maybe the doctors will finally diagnose me and stop calling me a medical mystery, like they've called me all my life!
  23. Thank you! I plan on going to my doctor on my next day off. I was talking to my mother today about my childhood. And from what I've read over the last day or two it sounds like I had symptoms back then too, but none of the doctors I went to thought to check for celiac. My mother told me I suffered from frequent headaches as a child, and stomach aches...
