  2. Could be the Ozampic is masking your expected symptoms. Like an analgesic masks pain. Qzampic slows digestion to lower the rate glucose enters the intestine to slow its effect on glucose level. It seems it might also slow down the gluten entry into the intestine, reducing its trigger level for the antibodies. Ultimately the damage from gluten is the same...
  3. You can sell it better if the whole family does gluten free. If he does have Celiac Diease, it is genetic so either you, your spouse, or both have a 40% chance of also having Celiac. There are over 200 non classic symptoms also caused by celiac disease not often considered by doctors. Joint pain, muscle pain, muscle cramps, osteoporosis, and allergies for...
  4. Hello @MHavoc, thank you for your question and welcome to the clinic. First, has the contstipation abated with the GFD? If your are pursuing further diagnostics you must continue to eat gluten. Each lab has their own reference range for their test, but they indicate an H for high. Typically anything above 11 is considered positive. Mild...
  5. Welcome @aperlo34, The transistion to GFD seems scarier than it is. It took my infant son six months to heal. Adults take longer, six months to two years to heal the gut. There are over 200 various symptoms and diseases that result from gluten and the resulting vitamin and mineral deficiencies malabsorption syndrome causes. Most will go...
  6. More likely the Sibo was a symptom of the Celiac malabsorption syndrome.
  7. Looks like the PCP called it. Good for him. Now you need to work on the malnutrition, primarily vitamins and minerals, caused by the years of malabsorption. Virtually all newly diagnosed with Celiac Disease are vitamin D deficient, even though he may get lots of sun, get a 25(OH)D blood test. My son is a professional ocean life guard year round...
  8. Vitamin D plays a key role in absorbing and retaining calcium and phosphorous for bone and tooth mineralization. When vitamin D levels are low and the body isn't able to properly absorb calcium and phosphorus, there is an increased risk of bone pain, bone fractures, muscle pain, and muscle weakness. In older adults, severe vitamin D deficiency (levels...
  9. If your blood test is soon and you have not been gluten free for long, your doctor may be trying to save you the challenge. Seems like she may be pretty sure you have Celiac Disease already. After you stop eating foods with gluten, your symptoms will likely get better in a few days to weeks. Your small intestine should heal completely in 3 to 6 months...
  10. Hi @jjiillee, Call the doctors office and tell them about the improvement with gluten free diet. Diagnosing Celiac Disease is as much an art as it is a science. Many go 10 years of suffering various symptoms before finally being diagnosed. Most celiacs have vitamin deficiency, it is part of the diagnosis. Especially vitamin D. Ask for her to be...
  11. You might want to consider eating lots of yogurt to repopulate your intestines with benificial bacteria after all those antibiotics. I've had good results with Stoneyfield Whole milk vanilla and add a couple handfuls of frozen berries. Potassium, magnesium, vitamins C and K, fiber, and prebiotics—carbohydrates that help promote a healthy gut. The n...
  12. Polymyositis is a rare autoimmune disease that makes your immune system attack your muscles. Any autoimmune disease is associated with low vitamin D. Even as a kid I had weak legs. Now I feel the burn just walking to the mailbox. A case-control study found that patients with polymyositis (PM) had higher lactate levels at rest and after...
  13. Micronutrient Inadequacies in the US Population "A US national survey, NHANES 2007-2010, which surveyed 16,444 individuals four years and older, reported a high prevalence of inadequacies for multiple micronutrients (see Table 1). Specifically, 94.3% of the US population do not meet the daily requirement for vitamin D, 88.5% for vitamin E, 52.2% for...
  14. The paleo diet is based on the idea that the human body evolved to consume a balanced ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, and that the modern diet is out of balance. A healthy ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 is 1:1–4:1, while the modern diet is closer to 20:1–40:1. The paleo diet aims to restore this balance.
  15. Best thing you can do for them! First-degree family members (parents, siblings, children), who have the same genotype as the family member with celiac disease, have up to a 40% risk of developing celiac disease. Make sure you and they get enough vitamin D and iodine in their diet. Iodine deficiency is a significant cause of mental developmental...
  16. Yes, Lisinopril gave me an inguinal hernia from the persistant cough. Amlodipine doubled urine output and dry eyes so I could not wear contacts, another had me walking bent over like a ninety year old and one knocked out control of my quadracepts so knees would give out. None lowered my blood pressure. Average BP 132/67 for Oct 21 - 26. Lowest was 10...
  17. I take Clonidine for blood pressure control. It is the only one that did not debiltate me. It also helps with my ADD. Doctors always turned me down when I requested Ritalin (I am an adult) so it turned out for the best that I reacted badly to all the different BP meds they tried. Originally Clonidine was developed for ADHD adolescents that could not...
  18. You should also have her checked for vitamin deficiencies. "Iodine's presence in the diet can contribute positively to hair strength and elasticity by maintaining hair follicle cycling and supporting the synthesis of hair shaft components like keratin. Keratin is strong and won't dissolve in diluted acids, alkalines, solvents, or water" "Keratosis...
  19. When my son was weaned in 1976 he was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. My mom said at the time. "you got what you gave." His doctor insisted on Nutramigen as the only hyperallergenic baby formula with full nutrition. After 6 months he was weaned to gluten free diet. It seems it still has that status. He has grown strong and well.
  20. Hi @Marilyn1941, Welcome to the forum. There is not enough info to go on. What test name? What are the results and the laboratory's normal range they used? Why were you tested? What kind of symptoms? Age, sex and country would be helpful but not necessary.
  21. @Celiac Dad14 "Boyd was prescribed a single-infusion iron drug, but Cigna denied her request ... offering a five-infusion alternative instead. This ... was unreasonable, given her ... work schedule. She found it impossible to arrange ... without taking even more time off from work.." By denying the prescription for their own employee, and denying...
  22. There is plenty of gluten food that is unplatable also. The trouble in restaurants is that wheat, like the Frank's Hot Sauce commercial; "They throw that bleep on everything." In my opinion, the underlying problem is compromised immune system due to vitamin D deficiency and Green Revolution modern wheat. 50% of the industrialized world are vitamin...
  23. Nope. My life would have been better without gluten. Unfortunately I was in denial until 63 years old. I was a colicky baby. Should have started gluten free then but in 1951 you just outgrew it. But really you don't. They convince you that there is something wrong with you, instead of there is something wrong with the food they sell.
  24. Hello @Dhruv, My 16 year old nephew was diagnosed two years. That's not an easy age. This year the whole family has been diagnosed. You might consider getting yourself tested. When my son was diagnosed his doctor suggested my wife and I should also get tested. We declined and not eating gluten free is probably the biggest mistake of our lives. Keep...
  25. Too much B12 generally does not require treatment other than stopping or reducing the supplementation. Symptoms of too much B12 typically resolve in a day or two if oral supplements or injections are stopped or reduced. Liver andd kidney disease and IBS can cause high B12 and they are commonly comorbid with Celiac Disease. All of your symptoms...
