Folic Acid is added to almost every multivitamin. "Folate metabolism may have a complex role in prostate cancer; the effects of folic acid–containing supplements on the risk of prostate cancer may be different those of natural dietary sources. Feels like I'm reacting to everything?
Wheatwacked replied to EmptyJars99's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Red meats are generally high in fat. Fat digestion requires choline to make bile. Best food source of choline is liver, eggs and beef. Or 10 cups of cooked broccoli meets the minimum RDA. RDA is 550 mg to 3500 mg. Less than 10% on western diet get enough. Quicker to tsupplement choline. Like the other vitamins and minerals the RDA is what a healthy person... -
Feels like I'm reacting to everything?
Wheatwacked replied to EmptyJars99's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
There is a thing called Oral Allergy Syndrome that seems to fit your description. It The immune system recognizes the proteins as an allergen and triggers the release of histamine. Which brings me straight to the question, how much vitamin D are you getting? What is your 25 hydroxy vitamin D blood plasma? 80 ng/ml is a good target. Hypervitaminosis... -
Eric, Have you got test results for vitamin D blood level? You can get it done at a lab or mail order for around $25. If cost is an issue pipingrock.com, where I get mine, has 10,000 IU D3, 250 capsule bottle for $13.49 shipping is around $5. Or take 10 1,000 IU capsules. Investıgation of vitamin D levels in obsessive-compulsive disorder ...

Both sides are blaming each other for their woes. I learned from working in an alcohol rehab hospital ward as an orderly and later on as an alcoholic myself that healing starts only when you accept personal responsibility. A friend of mine is bipolar, they are married twenty years, and the interaction here seems similar. She is not responsive to his needs...

Yes, I started 10,000 IU a day (thats 250 mcg) in early 2015 about 6 months after starting GFD on Thanksgiving 2014. In Sept 2018 (just looked it up) my 25-hydroxy vitamin D test was 44.7 ng/ml. that equals 112 nmol/L. By Aug 2021 it was 86.9 ng/ml (217 nmol/L). Despite the fearmongering claims of terrible results of too much vitamin D I was inspired...

Dairy Free Baby Formula
Wheatwacked replied to jwhitty's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
How does the baby father stack up in regards to all of this? Has he been tested? Does he eat gluten free? Aside from the gastrointestinal issues, Celiac autoimmune disorders mimic some 300 other symptoms, and the risk for other autoimmune disorders is statistically increased. Type 1 Diabetes. "The estimated prevalence of celiac disease in patients with... -

Struggling w/ Gluten Challenge

Get your vitamin D (25-hydroxy vitamin D test) blood plasma up to 80 ng/ml. Low D is found in virtually every disease state including simply getting old. The current minimum is only enough to prevent Rickets. But what about the rest of our skeleton and our mental health and our compromised immune system? Next most important regarding cancer is increasing... -
Extreme constipation
Wheatwacked replied to Timothy Felt's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Exercise is useless unless you have the nutrition to support it. Arthritis is an autoimmune disease meaning you likely very low vitamin D. For muscle tone we need iodine (thyroid and testosterone. Energy needs vitamins B1, B3, B5, Choline and Taurine (a conditional essential amino acid that is a powerful antioxidant that helps eyes. Have you been checked... -

Wheatwacked replied to Timothy Felt's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Recent studies have indicated that 40 percent of FIRST DEGREE relatives of diagnosed Celiac Disease have undiagnosed Celiac Disease. That is up from the 10 percent of relatives previously thought to have it. A Constipation Remedy Using Potassium and Prunes "Potassium and prunes are a natural constipation remedy that you can quickly use to... -

Extreme constipation
Wheatwacked replied to Timothy Felt's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Dear Confused52. Welcome to the forum. I have some ideas but it would be helpful is you don't mind sharing what meds you are taking and a general idea of your diet so I dont say something stupid. For example in an attempt to lower my BP doctors kept prescribing diuretics which a) did not lower my BP and b) crippled me when I took them. Amlodipine dried... -

Try a saline enema or a few ounces of Magnesium Citrate. Very likely you are dehydrated. -
My bloods coming back negative
Wheatwacked replied to Kitkatco's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Many go through years of misery and misdiagnoses before eventually getting sick enough to get declared. There is Non Celiac Gluten Sensistivity used when someone is ruled out for Celiac, yet shows improvement on Gluten Free Diet. That is about 10% the population; vs. 1% with Celiac! Same treatment applies: avoid wheat, barley, and rye, and the part generally... -
What is your vitamin D blood plasma level? Without enough vitamin D or calcium, your parathyroid glands compensate by producing too much of their hormone, a condition called hyperparathyroidism. That can lead to bone weakening (osteoporosis) and increased fracture risk. How much choline are you eating? Eggs, liver, beef. Low choline intake can cause...

Keep us updated. I eat mostly garden salad and salmon, ground beef, cooked ham, swiss and sheep feta. 12 ounces of salad 4-8 ounces protein per meal. Cherry Magnesium Citrate. 2 ounces in a 20 ounce cup of ice water. 580 mg magnesium per two ounces and it tastes like lemonade, absorbs quickly. 5 servings per bottle. That's a dollar a day. (price tripled...

At 63 male I looked 8 months, carrying high. All the above is correct. Here is how I finally put it together. Your vitamin D, 25-hydroxy vitamin D test, if you get tested is going to be in single digits. That affects your emotional states, autoimmune system, bone density, ability to fight infections, ability to get along and have hope and less...

If I stop taking 10,000 IIU (250 mcg) for any length of time my blood level drops quickly. 7 ng/ml (17.5 nmol?/)in only three weeks. It took two years for me to get from 47 (118 nmol/L) to 80 (200 nmol/L). The first symptom to reappear is I get annoyed when the phone rings. My previous doctor "fired me" because my blood pressure went up on amlodipine...

The effective blood level of vitamin D is around 80 ng/ml which is equivalent to 200 nmol/L depending on the lab. Because of a manufacturing error, the infant formula had 1000 times the maximum vitamin D for infants, in the UK in 1950s there was an epidemic of infant deaths attributed to calcification which The Royal College of Physicians and the British...

Welcome to the forum Herboris Tin. Low vitamin D causes depression. Thiamine deficiency. Interesting, ALS was one of the first diseases to be documented that gluten free diet can improve. Of course, the mainstream medical community accused them of quackery. Here is a list of essential vitamins and minerals followed by an article explaining each... -
The way I heard the story of High fructose corn syrup and this is hearsay. There was a man working for the Sugar industry as a congressional lobbyist in 1970s to raise the import taxes on sugar to protect the US sugar industry. Once that was in place he bought the rights from a Japanese company to produce HFCS at a much lower price than sugar.

Just because everyone has it does not make it normal or healthy. A lifeguard study that found vitamin D levels in the 70 ng/mL range up to 100 ng/mL (nature’s level) were associated with no adverse effects; 42% US adults are low or deficient. Up to 70% Canadians, 30% UK. Normal is 80 ng/ml. Low is less than 29 ng/ml and is based solely on what i...

Original Alka Seltzer. Aspirin is an analgesic and anti-inflamatory to reduce pain and inflamation. Bicarbonate temporarily reduces stomach acid by bonding with H+ (hydrochloric stomach acid). No gluten or aluminum or unwanted side effects to worry about. For iodine intake I eat 3 sheets of certified organic Nori with my morning coffee. RDA is 125 mcg...

10 grams of fresh parsley fulfills the RDA of vitamin K. Leafy greens, cheese and eggs have K. I prefer to take each separately, though it is a pain. This way I can adjust one without affecting the others depending on what I get from diet. I also think you pay more for the combos. It is the "added value" concept of marketing so they can charge...
