Damaged villi is a hallmark of Celiac Disease. It is a sure indicator of malabsorption syndrome which over time will lead to malnutrition because even though you may be eating enough, you are not absorbing them. Many of your family's symptoms indicate deficiencies. Mom's Sjrogens Disease is often accompanied by Vitamin D deficiency and B12 and anemia...

Compare this to the kamut trial. Similar design, significantly different outcome. It is comparing modern wheat; the result of the Green Revolution in the '70s; and is now about 80% of the world market; to an unhybridized ancient wheat. If the new wheat has such an effect on non gluten sensitive healthy people, imagine what it does to us with GS. Comparing...

Evidence that the western diet is dependant on fortified flours. Also, emphasizes that a gluten free replica of a gluten diet is not the way to go. Does not prove that a balanced gluten free diet is inherently dificient. I wonder if this might be the reaction to gluten withdrawal.

I get tested by my doctor 4 times a year and have never been higher than 86 ng/ml. More good news to ease your concern: "Ekwaru et al recently reported on more than 17,000 healthy adult volunteers participating in a preventative health program and taking varying doses of vitamin D up to 20,000 IU/d. These patients did not demonstrate any toxicity...

Isn't it odd that doctors have such a say about vitamins, yet recieve vitually no education on the subject? Sorry to be so evangelistic on the subject, but after GFD vitamin D gave me hope back. Ever wonder why there is so much tooth decay in the rest of the world? "...legislation was instituted in Great Britain forbidding the fortification...

Eating gluten free does not necessarily replenish the vitamin deficiencies a person with Celiac Disease developes over the years. Most will eventually correct, except vitamin D. Common Nutrient Deficiencies in People with Newly Diagnosed/Untreated Celiac Disease -
Chances are your Barrett's will improve as you eat gluten free since it is caused by your previous diet. Rule of thumb: if it bothers you, don't eat it. And please, please don't get addicted to proton pump inhibitors like pepsid. Alka Seltzer (aspirin and bicarbonate) works well without long term effect. Salicylic Acid is actually essential vitamin B11 Aspirin...

Very simple meal plan. Garden Salad: tomato, bell pepper, cucumber, onion, various lettuces, carrots, brussel sprouts, asparagus, etc. Salt and olive oil to taste for dresssing. Skip the vinegar. Use lemon juice if needed. For proteins:, farm raised salmon, mahi, (pan fry a splash of grapeseed oil to keep from sticking to cast iron fry pan. ground beef... -

Ai yi yi!! At this level you virtually have no immute system. Here is what I am taking and it is working well. 250 mcg (10,000 IU). This what I need to maintain a blood plasma level of 80 ng/ml. If I stop my blood level drops quickly (7 ng/ml in 3 weeks) It took from 2018 to 2021 to raise it from 47 to 80. In 2015 I started slowly, believing...

Anything to continue believing that wheat is an essential nutrient. It is addictive and disease promoting and essential to the western economy, not western health.

648, I have to ask; with so many autoimmune diseases, has anyone tested you for deficient vitamin D? If you look at almost every disease, not caused by injury or infections, they all, including just getting old, have one thing in common: low vitamin D and a common associated disease is osteoporosis and tooth decay. Since the industrial revolution started...

And again: The left hand knoweth not what the right hand is doth do. That right there should be enough for a doctor to recommend GFD for life with out the need for you to suffer while waiting for endless testing.

You may want to get tested for adrenal insufficiency. It you are not making enough cortisol. Keep increasing your vitamin D intake. The magic level is 200 nmol/L (80 ng/ml). Reynaulds and rheumetoid arthritis are also autoimmune diseases and as such requires lots of vitamin D to modulate them and also do the other myriod of things it needs to...

How much choline is needed to reverse fatty liver disease? "Choline is essential for healthy liver function, and research links choline deficiency to fatty liver disease. There is no evidence to suggest that choline can reverse fatty liver disease but it may help to prevent the condition." Aside from the fact that only 10% eating the western diet...

Hi Harriet. Vegetarians can have difficulty getting enouh B12 and insufficient B12 can lead to anemia. Do You Have a Vitamin B12 Deficiency? "One of the reasons why primates and some other animals eat their feces is to aid in absorption of the B12 they produce in their lower GI tract." Only 10% eat enough liver eggs and beef to get... -
Constant low back, abdominal and pelvic pain!
Wheatwacked replied to Aussienae's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
How are your vitamins? bone pain could be vitamin D. Fat digestion Choline. Most western diet have a very high omega 6:3 ratio. Like 20:1 while we should be as close to 1:1 as posible. Omega 6 is inflammatory, omega 3 is healing. For example sweet potatoes are supposed to be "healthier" than white potatoes. But sweet potatoes have a 17:1 ratio...- 65 replies

I recently reduced my carbs to <40 grams a day (mostly). Cannot tolerate the drugs, and they did not lower glucose, six months on metformin turned me into a zombie. Wouldn't it make more sense to try gluten free diet before meds? The side effects of GFD does not include: What side effects can Dicyclomine cause? dry mouth. upset stomach. vomiting. constipation. stomach pain. gas or bloating. loss of appetite. dizziness. hot, flushed, dry skin confusion forgetfulness seeing... -
Maria hi, Have you tried raising your vitamin D plasma level. Low vitamin D is the primary cause of compromised immune system. As I approached 80 ng/ml I was less and less affected by cross contamination. Doctors consider 29 ng/ml as sufficient, but that is based only on what we need to avoid Rickets, not mental health, other bone health and...

Hi Karyn and welcome. First question. Did you cut way back on liver, eggs and beef back when they told us it was the reason we are all getting fat and sick from it? Bad information. You can get choline from vegies. You can eat 10 cups of cooked brocolli a day. It only takes 3 eggs a day for the minimum RDA. A 2 ounce egg has about 175 mg of choline...

When diagnosis is completed and she starts gluten free diet, I suggest you also start. You may be surprised at, once gluten withdrawal is passed, at how much better you feel. In addition it will simplify life in your home if everyone eats the same. And she will be following yours and dad's good examples. There is no medical reason to eat wheat. Wheat is... -
For your black thoughts, a high dose of vitamin D. I need to take 10,000 IU a day and have been since 2015. Side effects are none. My blood plasma is checked four times a year and since 2021 remains steady at 200 nmol/L. Increasing your B vitamins involved in energy creation and transport will help. I suggest start one give it a few days to see its...
