  1. There is a simple way to tell if gluten is the problem. Have her eat gluten free for a few weeks and retest. A negative test will indicate that it is indeed the gluten. You already have results while on gluten and there is the fact she will feel better. Why do they need more?. The most common link between Celiac and other autoimmune diseases like...
  2. Wasn't me. Although when I started GFD I was really into Fritos and potato chips. Later added corn chips. Whatever it took to not eat gluten. Once the addiction is controlled, then I worried about "healthy", although at this point I have found most healthy eating suggestions are more often than not a way to get you to buy their particular product. Long...
  3. The biopsy needs to be clear skin, less than a centimeter from the rash. Apparently not common knowledge in many dermatology offices. "First of all, a new skin biopsy of perilesional skin for DIF should be performed,": The diagnosis and treatment of dermatitis herpetiformis
  4. In all, we are not judging you, that's your own job. Just trying to be helpful.
  5. Try 100% grass fed milk. It has less inflammatory fatty acids than the milk from cows fed palmitic acid to increase production. Also it tastes like the milk I grew up on. My brother says it tastes like ice cream.
  6. I think of eating gluten free similar to getting vaccines. If you do, you are protected. If you don't you may or may not regret it. No way to know. I have the unique position of hindsight. My son was diagnosed after weaning. The doctor told us that when he started school the teachers would beg for Ritalin because he has ADD. He also recommended my wife...
  7. Keep the bread in the freezer and nuke the slices for about a minute for two slices. I had a hamburger between two portabella mushroom caps.
  8. They make gluten free cake. this is impertenent. I realize you don't want to deprive your kids. But what are you depriving them of. Years of mysterious illness? My son was diagnosed at 3 months. In my stupidity I waited until I was 63 and suffered all those years.
  9. The low carb diet can cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Maybe the one bad thing about it. Mayo Clinic has updated Low Carb Diet Guide. I started a couple weeks ago target less than 40 to undo my newfound diebetes. I use a spreadsheet to total my days intake. I found that I consistantly deficient on several from the RDA. Calcium 39%; Potassium...
  10. If som.ne says to give up apples for a month, no problem, But give up pancakes? World War III.
  11. Please don't go to the surgeon until you try gluten free diet for a month. Most of your symptoms will improve if not go away. If they don't then it is time to reassess. Be sure to supplement D, B1 vitamins, choline (or eat at least 3 eggs or a 12 ounce steak every day) and likely there are others. To some people like your doctor, you having Celiac...
  12. Hello pikauchu. Welcome to the forum. The good news first. If you get a properly done biopsy for DH that is positive it is the Celiac antigens in the skin. Do not pass go, you have Celiac Disease. Second, with brother and sister already and a niece on the way to Celiac Disease diagnosis 40% of first degree relatives of a person with celiac disease...
  13. I'd start with the corn. Some reactions include: Hives (red, itchy skin bumps) or a skin rash. For stress start by increasing your intake of vitamin D. It is traditional for Celiac, and most diseases to be low. Lithium Picolate 5 mg helps with "gotta do it, now!" What are the symptoms of pellagra, B3 Niacin deficiency. Chronic diarrhea...
  14. I have no doubt it is the low vitamin D and iodine levels we are encouraged to follow. And deficiency in other vitamins that prevent defective DNA by apoptosis. It's like losing all of your local police due to attrition. US adults are 42% deficient in D, the communication net of the immune system and barely enough iodine for thyroid health. There are others...
  15. I assune that vitamin D 60 is in nmol/ L. Same as 27 ng/ml. That's like 27 workers in a factory built for 100. I have to take 250 mcg (10,000 IU) a day to stay at 180 nmol/L. That is my homeostasis point. If I stop, my level goes down much quicker than it goes back up. It has never gone above 193 nmol/L. Doctor agrees.
  16. Then there is this. I think the increase in carbohydrate is mostly wheat flour. Calories that were formally nutrient dense are now empy calories that we need as a society to "fortify". "With westernisation however came an increase in the intake of refined carbohydrates and sugar in the Alaskan Inuit. Indeed, compared with the Inuit of Point Hope, the...
  17. I find this interesting. "With westernisation however came an increase in the intake of refined carbohydrates and sugar in the Alaskan Inuit. Indeed, compared with the Inuit of Point Hope, the Inuit living in a boarding high school consumed more carbohydrates (48% vs 10% of total calories), less fat (39% vs 55% of total calories) and less protein...
  18. Many with Celiac Disease become malnutritioned. Many nutrients can cause brain fog. Gluten sensitivity and epilepsy: a systematic review "Gluten-free diet (GFD) is effective in the management of epilepsy in 53% of cases." "It is important that epilepsy is more broadly recognised within the spectrum of gluten-related disorders as...
  19. Also an autoimmune disease that they don't really know what causes it. But, almost miraculously, it eventually goes away on a gluten free diet. It takes time and experimentation with the essential vitamins and minerals until to get them back up. Many of the symptoms you describe are symptoms of vitamin deficiencies. For your multiple autoimmune diseases...
  20. Sure, I get most of my vitamins and minerals from Piping Rock. Link below. I don't know if there would be surcharges to import to Canada, but as Red Bull is international I assume it is sold in your local stores. Taurine I am curious, what is unsafe? I thought since you had problems with reactions to other vitamin pills this might be a good food...
  21. NCGS is the diagnosis after Celiac has been ruled out but the patient shows improvement on GFD, then reversal with reintroduction of gluten. Current rate for Celiac is ~1% and NCGS is 10%. Some researchers and doctors consider NCGS like pre-Celiac. Regardless, both are treated with abstenance from Wheat, Rye, Barley and replenishment of low essential vitamin...
  22. I was very malnutritioned. Walking to the mailbox at curb was a major feat.I remember when I slept most of the time. During TV commercials I would forget what I was watching. That will get better. Don't eat gluten, work on vitamin replenishment. Good luck in school.
  23. Here is an article about non traditional symptoms. There are more than one would think? https://www.celiac.com/articles.html/what-are-the-symptoms-of-celiac-disease-r1090
