I take Clonidine for blood pressure control. It is the only one that did not debiltate me. It also helps with my ADD. Doctors always turned me down when I requested Ritalin (I am an adult) so it turned out for the best that I reacted badly to all the different BP meds they tried. Originally Clonidine was developed for ADHD adolescents that could not...

9 year old- questionable results
Wheatwacked replied to ABP's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You should also have her checked for vitamin deficiencies. "Iodine's presence in the diet can contribute positively to hair strength and elasticity by maintaining hair follicle cycling and supporting the synthesis of hair shaft components like keratin. Keratin is strong and won't dissolve in diluted acids, alkalines, solvents, or water" "Keratosis... -
Pretty desperate for some guidance
Wheatwacked replied to Pua's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When my son was weaned in 1976 he was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. My mom said at the time. "you got what you gave." His doctor insisted on Nutramigen as the only hyperallergenic baby formula with full nutrition. After 6 months he was weaned to gluten free diet. It seems it still has that status. He has grown strong and well. -
@Celiac Dad14 "Boyd was prescribed a single-infusion iron drug, but Cigna denied her request ... offering a five-infusion alternative instead. This ... was unreasonable, given her ... work schedule. She found it impossible to arrange ... without taking even more time off from work.." By denying the prescription for their own employee, and denying...

Confused with test results
Wheatwacked replied to Dhruv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is plenty of gluten food that is unplatable also. The trouble in restaurants is that wheat, like the Frank's Hot Sauce commercial; "They throw that bleep on everything." In my opinion, the underlying problem is compromised immune system due to vitamin D deficiency and Green Revolution modern wheat. 50% of the industrialized world are vitamin... -
Confused with test results
Wheatwacked replied to Dhruv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Nope. My life would have been better without gluten. Unfortunately I was in denial until 63 years old. I was a colicky baby. Should have started gluten free then but in 1951 you just outgrew it. But really you don't. They convince you that there is something wrong with you, instead of there is something wrong with the food they sell. -
Confused with test results
Wheatwacked replied to Dhruv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello @Dhruv, My 16 year old nephew was diagnosed two years. That's not an easy age. This year the whole family has been diagnosed. You might consider getting yourself tested. When my son was diagnosed his doctor suggested my wife and I should also get tested. We declined and not eating gluten free is probably the biggest mistake of our lives. Keep... -
Elevated B12
Wheatwacked replied to damnyoureyes's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Too much B12 generally does not require treatment other than stopping or reducing the supplementation. Symptoms of too much B12 typically resolve in a day or two if oral supplements or injections are stopped or reduced. Liver andd kidney disease and IBS can cause high B12 and they are commonly comorbid with Celiac Disease. All of your symptoms... -
Welcome @Mary Em, Vitamin D plays an essential role in producing serotonin and minimizing oxidative stress, both of which can affect the migraine brain. Low vitamin D levels may contribute to migraine. 42% of Americans are deficient in vitamin D, 60% of UK adults and up to 75% northern Canadians are deficient in vitamin D. Virtually all Celiac Disease...

Try whole milk yogurt. I eat Stoneyfield vanilla. Add fruit if you like. Cultured Pasteurized Organic Whole Milk, Pectin, Vitamin D3. Live Active Cultures S. thermophilus, L. bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium BB-12®, L. acidophilus, L. paracasei and L. rhamnosus. Looking at the NO Fat Greek Yogurt, consider that to give the mouth feel of real yogurt ... -
That was the work of Norman Borlaug down in Mexico. It was not Genectially Modified but through highly agressive work in pollenation techniques to x-breed in genes that are neurotoxins to insects and as long as it gets food and fertilizer it will keep growing and other attributes. It's first financial success was winning the contract to replace rice flour...

Wheatwacked replied to 6faith6's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi @6faith6, welcome to the forum. Was this the only test run? It is negative. Why was it run? Can you tell us about yourself and your symptoms? Country? I would guess you feel like crap and the doctors can't find anything wrong. -

Do I need a celiac diagnosis?
Wheatwacked replied to TabithaJ's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Do you have an official diagnosis of Celiac Disease? I understand that there are tax and financial benefits to a diagnosis of Celiac Disease in the UK. -
Hi @Nogluten4thisgirl Welcome to the forum. Consider that gluten eating people without Celiac Disease or NCGS also get constipation. Your constipation can be from not gluten sources.. If you only eat foods not sold in a box or bag you don't have to worry much about cross contamination.😃 I like this one: "having limited privacy when using th...

Do I need a celiac diagnosis?
Wheatwacked replied to TabithaJ's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You got to be in it to win it. If you are eating gluten free you will test negative. The tests look for damage and an immune response to gluten. I agree with you doctor. Unexplained infertility. Deficient Iodine. A Medium Urinary Iodine Concentration test will show it. TSH and T4 will not show low iodine intake until you are very deficient. Bread... -
It's a misdiagnosis that happens more often than you would think. I'm sorry. It's your husband that you need to convince to start GFD for your health. Once over the hump, he will thank you. Kids under 6 don't really have much choice in what you feed them. Zinc Glyconate (Cold-Eeze). The zinc is antiviral and the lozenge coats the mucus...

Top Brands of Gluten-Free Cough Drops
Wheatwacked commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
It is Zinc Gluconate, 13.3 mg zinc per lozenge. Locally Publix and Walgreens have their own generoc brand and it costs almost half as much as Cold-eeze. Start as soon as symptoms and take every 2-4 hours until symptoms are gone.- 5 comments

What Brand vitamin D are you taking? What else is in it? Do I understand correctly that you take 1500 IU of vitamin D and you get comatose and headaches and if you don't you are oK? A diet consisting mainly of white flour, white sugar, and other highly processed carbohydrates can cause thiamin deficiency. At first, people have vague symptoms such...

The iodine content of New Zealand soils is low and therefore locally produced foods are also low in iodine. It is difficult for most people to obtain adequate iodine by eating foods that are natural sources of iodine, which is why commercially prepared bread must be fortified with iodine. Since you are not eating bread, you are more at risk than normal...
