Biopsy testing in Bay Area?
Wheatwacked replied to bhlowe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Another complication of Celiac Disease not mentioned very often. When I was a kid I used to say I had compartents in my stomach. The pancake and milk compartments always filled before the bacon and eggs compartment, but I had to finish the pancakes before seconds on the other. Our bodies are smarter than our cultures. -

I did not know that. I may try it. I am often on the wrong side of that 50%. There is no upper limit on magnesium in food. It's the supplements that need to be watched. Notice the UL is less than the EAR for males over 30. Here is a chart that may be helpful. Happy Holidays. VitaminRDA Upper -

Boil a pot of water a few inches deep with a teaspoon of vinegar (or not). Break the eggs one at a time into a large spoon and settle into the water. Scoop out when cooked and cool in a pot of ice water. -

Coscochondritis: inflammation of the cartilage that joins your ribs to your breastbone Thats just giving a name to a specific spot of inflammation, a subset of all your other inflammations. I don't believe each of your complaints is triggered by separate causes. The GFD and thiamine may resolve most of them without other interventions, other than malabsorbtion... -

Other possibilities are endometriosis or ovarian cancer. Is the gluten free diet helping? It is a shame on our medical systems that doctors don't consider quality of life while they try to prove you are not sick from gluten. Even if not Celiac, it could be Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity but that diagnosis requires ruling out Celiac first then seeing if the... -
Whether you are determined to be cllinically deficient in Thiamine or not, there is not a limit to how much you can safely take. I take 500 mg of thiamine hcl a day but started with 2000 mg a day to build up reserves quickly. I also take 500 mg of B3 nicotinic acid (I got used to the flush from B3 Nicotinic Acid. It is not considered a health risk. While...

Biopsy testing in Bay Area?
Wheatwacked replied to bhlowe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Brad How old are the boys and what do they think of the idea of gluten free? Has the rest of your family been tested? While a gluten free lifestyle is difficult, the health benefits are immense and it is no more difficult than a Jew eating Kosher or Muslim Halal. You have evidence of three symptoms: stomach issues, iron deficient, and underweight... -
Can TMJ cause salivary gland pain?
Wheatwacked replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I lost a molar (coincidentally lower left jaw) from ignoring an old loose filling. After having it extracted my teeth shifted, and my bite became even, finishing the job the orthodontist started when I was a kid. Right about that time my TMJ got better. -
Many people find gluten to be addictive and go through withdrawal (jonesing) that can be rough. Consider thinking about what makes those foods you love so comforting. Much I believe is successful marketing strategies, some happy memories. For the transistion I made 8 years ago I ate anything, fritos, potato chips, watermelon. Your goal at first like a recovering...

Celiac Pregnant week 10 and got glutened I am terrified
Wheatwacked replied to Erika.ON's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Barley is 8% gluten. Wheat is 85% gluten. With luck you may not be activated yet against the gluten in barley. Or your natural stomach acid neutralized the small amount and your vitamin D is high enough to dampen the response of the Celiac genes. -
I can see that. Our inflammatory Western diet or antibiotics or malnutrition kills off the benificial bifidobacteria and lactobacillus. Without enough vitamin D to modulate the autoimmune system, ie. shut it down when the job is done, the Celiac antibodies run amuck. Digestion of Intact Gluten Proteins by Bifidobacterium Species: Reduction of Cytotoxicity...

I am sorry. I don't know what you know. I wrote what I thought would be helpful to you because it had been to me. No intent to insult you. -
Sort of like telling a recovering alcoholic he can drink once a month. Gluten is addictive. Try to come up with a diet that is gluten free, but not a gluten free reproduction of a SAD diet. His tastes will change. At the same time it would be wonderful if the whole family switched. Just pretend you've moved to a country where Wheat is not available. When...

Sorry about the delay on your posts. You might look at Dr Hyman's "Pegan Diet". It's a combo of Paleo and Vegan. He is head of the Cleveland Clinic Functional Medicine Department. A Celiac antibody screening might make sense if only to prove gluten is not an issue. Me too, but I am 71, 6' 2". Maxed out at185 but that was all belly fat. I always... -

The dietary requirements for potassium is 4.7 grams per for all over 4 years old. On a 2000 calorie diet you should be eating 2.5 mg potassium per calorie and sodium less than half that. Unless you are on potassium saving diuretics or kidney disease. Surprisingly, even salted potato chips fit this ratio. The WHO considers potassium deficiency a health concern... -
Man Claims Hookworm Treatment Led to Remission of Celiac Disease
Wheatwacked commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Additional Concerns
I am glad it works for you but I wonder if you are vitamin deficient. Given the typical diagnosis time frame of 10 years for Celiac Disease you are ahead of the curve. But I believe that if a treatment takes more than a short time to show any effects, it is not the optimal treatment. I was so sick I could only lie in bed and listen to TV. Any movement was...- 71 comments

Looks like a duck, quacks like a duck. You get sick eating gluten. If the doctor can't prove that it is, are you planning to eat gluten? Not proving it is, is not the same as proving it is not. Be sure to get enough of all the essential vitamins; especially D and you'll do fine. The hard part is dealing with the social abuse. -
I had a similar incident a few times. It came on suddenly as I was eating. It was the same food I've had many times so gluten was not the issue I think. Suddenly my brain started spiraling down, out of control nearly blacking out like the time I had laughing gas at the oral surgeon, then I thew up everything, got chills and shakey, then massive diahrea and...

Man Claims Hookworm Treatment Led to Remission of Celiac Disease

I have no doubt those deaths might have been a result of malnutrition. I do understand your anger. We've been misinformed and possible downright lied to. I see the same pattern in my family. I believe in addition (though limited evidence) that Karen Carpenter and Elvis would be alive today had they been treated with GFD and vitamin replenishment. New studies...- 71 comments

Aside from the bad reaction did it lower your BP? Ask to try clonidine or atenolol. Not only does it lower my BP to around 130/70 in within 2 hours, lasts 4 hours and I notice a calming effect. I have untreated ADD at 71 years. My previous doctor sent me packing because he decided I was not compliant because the C channel blockers did not work as he expected...

The theory is that the dry toast soaks up the acid and gives you carbs for energy. A long held mistake. Mine was saltine crackers with butter. My wife chose English muffins. Karen Carpenter was crackers and cheese, as I remember. Elvis was peanut butter sandwiches. Trouble is that if it is Celiac you are adding to the inflamation. If it is H. Pylori they...

Two things almost guaranteed. Low vitamin D and insufficient Choline intake. Low choline leads to non Alcoholic fatty liver. Possible Role of Vitamin D in Celiac Disease Onset "Physiologically, choline is critical for a number of functions across the life cycle which include wide-ranging roles in human metabolism from neurotransmitter synthesis...

I cannot tolerate the common BP. Most are diuretics and they cause me big problems. Nothing to do with Celiac. Atenolol and Clonidine lower my BP up to 40 points. They don't know why they work but they can also be used to treat adult ADHD. I can drink a double espresso and go to sleep. SSRI's make me twitch and keep me wide awake. Be aware that...

Natural tendency to fear worst case. So many on this forum were misdiagnosed only to learn it was Celiac Disease all along. To really get a scare look up "200 symptoms of Celiac Disease". It can mimic anything because of autoimmune response and vitamin deficiencies. Once you start GFD and or correcting malnutrition you start healing so you will need...
