Vitamin D plays a key role in absorbing and retaining calcium and phosphorous for bone and tooth mineralization. When vitamin D levels are low and the body isn't able to properly absorb calcium and phosphorus, there is an increased risk of bone pain, bone fractures, muscle pain, and muscle weakness. In older adults, severe vitamin D deficiency (levels...

Considering having a blood test
Wheatwacked replied to Kristina12's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If your blood test is soon and you have not been gluten free for long, your doctor may be trying to save you the challenge. Seems like she may be pretty sure you have Celiac Disease already. After you stop eating foods with gluten, your symptoms will likely get better in a few days to weeks. Your small intestine should heal completely in 3 to 6 months... -
Daughter waiting for appointment
Wheatwacked replied to jjiillee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi @jjiillee, Call the doctors office and tell them about the improvement with gluten free diet. Diagnosing Celiac Disease is as much an art as it is a science. Many go 10 years of suffering various symptoms before finally being diagnosed. Most celiacs have vitamin deficiency, it is part of the diagnosis. Especially vitamin D. Ask for her to be... -
Can't figure this out
Wheatwacked replied to Captain173's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You might want to consider eating lots of yogurt to repopulate your intestines with benificial bacteria after all those antibiotics. I've had good results with Stoneyfield Whole milk vanilla and add a couple handfuls of frozen berries. Potassium, magnesium, vitamins C and K, fiber, and prebiotics—carbohydrates that help promote a healthy gut. The n... -
Polymyositis is a rare autoimmune disease that makes your immune system attack your muscles. Any autoimmune disease is associated with low vitamin D. Even as a kid I had weak legs. Now I feel the burn just walking to the mailbox. A case-control study found that patients with polymyositis (PM) had higher lactate levels at rest and after...

Micronutrient Inadequacies in the US Population "A US national survey, NHANES 2007-2010, which surveyed 16,444 individuals four years and older, reported a high prevalence of inadequacies for multiple micronutrients (see Table 1). Specifically, 94.3% of the US population do not meet the daily requirement for vitamin D, 88.5% for vitamin E, 52.2% for...

The paleo diet is based on the idea that the human body evolved to consume a balanced ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, and that the modern diet is out of balance. A healthy ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 is 1:1–4:1, while the modern diet is closer to 20:1–40:1. The paleo diet aims to restore this balance.

Best thing you can do for them! First-degree family members (parents, siblings, children), who have the same genotype as the family member with celiac disease, have up to a 40% risk of developing celiac disease. Make sure you and they get enough vitamin D and iodine in their diet. Iodine deficiency is a significant cause of mental developmental...

Yes, Lisinopril gave me an inguinal hernia from the persistant cough. Amlodipine doubled urine output and dry eyes so I could not wear contacts, another had me walking bent over like a ninety year old and one knocked out control of my quadracepts so knees would give out. None lowered my blood pressure. Average BP 132/67 for Oct 21 - 26. Lowest was 10...

I take Clonidine for blood pressure control. It is the only one that did not debiltate me. It also helps with my ADD. Doctors always turned me down when I requested Ritalin (I am an adult) so it turned out for the best that I reacted badly to all the different BP meds they tried. Originally Clonidine was developed for ADHD adolescents that could not...

9 year old- questionable results
Wheatwacked replied to ABP's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You should also have her checked for vitamin deficiencies. "Iodine's presence in the diet can contribute positively to hair strength and elasticity by maintaining hair follicle cycling and supporting the synthesis of hair shaft components like keratin. Keratin is strong and won't dissolve in diluted acids, alkalines, solvents, or water" "Keratosis... -
Pretty desperate for some guidance
Wheatwacked replied to Pua's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When my son was weaned in 1976 he was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. My mom said at the time. "you got what you gave." His doctor insisted on Nutramigen as the only hyperallergenic baby formula with full nutrition. After 6 months he was weaned to gluten free diet. It seems it still has that status. He has grown strong and well. -
@Celiac Dad14 "Boyd was prescribed a single-infusion iron drug, but Cigna denied her request ... offering a five-infusion alternative instead. This ... was unreasonable, given her ... work schedule. She found it impossible to arrange ... without taking even more time off from work.." By denying the prescription for their own employee, and denying...

Confused with test results
Wheatwacked replied to Dhruv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is plenty of gluten food that is unplatable also. The trouble in restaurants is that wheat, like the Frank's Hot Sauce commercial; "They throw that bleep on everything." In my opinion, the underlying problem is compromised immune system due to vitamin D deficiency and Green Revolution modern wheat. 50% of the industrialized world are vitamin... -
Confused with test results
Wheatwacked replied to Dhruv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Nope. My life would have been better without gluten. Unfortunately I was in denial until 63 years old. I was a colicky baby. Should have started gluten free then but in 1951 you just outgrew it. But really you don't. They convince you that there is something wrong with you, instead of there is something wrong with the food they sell. -
Confused with test results
Wheatwacked replied to Dhruv's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello @Dhruv, My 16 year old nephew was diagnosed two years. That's not an easy age. This year the whole family has been diagnosed. You might consider getting yourself tested. When my son was diagnosed his doctor suggested my wife and I should also get tested. We declined and not eating gluten free is probably the biggest mistake of our lives. Keep... -
Elevated B12
Wheatwacked replied to damnyoureyes's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Too much B12 generally does not require treatment other than stopping or reducing the supplementation. Symptoms of too much B12 typically resolve in a day or two if oral supplements or injections are stopped or reduced. Liver andd kidney disease and IBS can cause high B12 and they are commonly comorbid with Celiac Disease. All of your symptoms... -
Welcome @Mary Em, Vitamin D plays an essential role in producing serotonin and minimizing oxidative stress, both of which can affect the migraine brain. Low vitamin D levels may contribute to migraine. 42% of Americans are deficient in vitamin D, 60% of UK adults and up to 75% northern Canadians are deficient in vitamin D. Virtually all Celiac Disease...

Try whole milk yogurt. I eat Stoneyfield vanilla. Add fruit if you like. Cultured Pasteurized Organic Whole Milk, Pectin, Vitamin D3. Live Active Cultures S. thermophilus, L. bulgaricus, Bifidobacterium BB-12®, L. acidophilus, L. paracasei and L. rhamnosus. Looking at the NO Fat Greek Yogurt, consider that to give the mouth feel of real yogurt ... -
That was the work of Norman Borlaug down in Mexico. It was not Genectially Modified but through highly agressive work in pollenation techniques to x-breed in genes that are neurotoxins to insects and as long as it gets food and fertilizer it will keep growing and other attributes. It's first financial success was winning the contract to replace rice flour...

Hi @6faith6, welcome to the forum. Was this the only test run? It is negative. Why was it run? Can you tell us about yourself and your symptoms? Country? I would guess you feel like crap and the doctors can't find anything wrong. -
