No problem not eating grains, but I would look for vitamin and mineral deficiencies given your history. Gluten Free Diet with adequate vitamins and minerals, you should be healthier than your friends.

That sounds more like a withdrawal from gluten reaction. Gluten affects the opiod rececptors and like withdrawal from opidis it can take two week or so to withdraw. Over the years the opiod effect of gluten has been masking the pain. Take it easy, for the time being eat what makes your tummy happy. Barring gluten. That pretty much is your answer...

Celiac diagnosis

If you have this reaction to a drug, whether it has gluten is moot. That drug is not for you. There are many other drugs that work as well. For example a 10 ounce bottle of Magnesium Citrate. -
Newly Diagnosed
Wheatwacked replied to Jake R.'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
While you remove gluten processed foods from your diet, there are vitamins and minerals added to those foods because the standard western diet has been deemed deficient by government agencies and so are required to be fortified. Gluten free processed food are no usually fortified. For every food you delete, make sure to find another source in you new diet... -
Welcome to the forum @SusanB123, I sympathize with your plight. First I will will state that he is not alone. Here is a post from another forum member: "I was diagnosed celiac January 2023, with no symptoms. I have been on the gluten free diet since, but since the 6th month of the diet to date, I have developed symptoms-stomach pains, bloating...

Problems
Wheatwacked replied to cjjones5969's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm guessing it was Manic Depression. I was depressed for 30 years. It did not go away until I increased vitamin D3 to 10,000 IU (250 mcg) a day. Three days after going from 8000 IU to 10,000 IU a great dark cloud lifted. Unless you are deficient in Calcium intake from food, don't supplement with calcium. A high Parathyroid Hormone PTH blood... -
high levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH) can indicate a vitamin D deficiency. The "normal level" of 25(OH) D is 80 ng/ml (200 nmol/L). That is the level our body sets as it's normal limit when we don't limit sunshine. For some people like me it takes 10,000 IU a day to maintain that. Lack of enough sun and malabsorption of vitamin D orally.

Rampant decay caused by Celiac’s disease
Wheatwacked replied to Chris Tonelli's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
She should be tested for 25(OH)D vitamin D blood level. Most newly diagnosed with Celiac Disease are disturbingly low. Malabsorption syndrome causes poor dietary absorption of vitamin D orally and super high sunscreens block skin production. Hypervitminosis D which nearly every article written warns of, is a very rare disease. Many these days drink... -
When my son was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 1976 as soon as he was weaned, his doctor insisted that we feed him only Nutramigen it was the only hyperallergenic with complete nutrition. Enfamil and Similac were not acceptable if we wanted him to get healthy. For one thing they had no choline back then. Given the lawsuits against them now, he was...

Could it be? Next steps?
Wheatwacked replied to CeeBee1807's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello @CeeBee1807, Find out if your gastroscopy will include biopsies for Celiac Disease. Since the doctors haven't mentioned Celiac Disease to you, I have a feeling they will not. You'll get an answer like, you have irritation. We don't know what the cause is. -

I can usually only eat it as chopped liver, but the commercial ones all have wheat added. Wish I could, but it creeps me. Cod Liver Oil works. -

Wheatwacked replied to Ginger38's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Whatever the doctors decide, you can not eat wheat. Chasing an official diagnosis is up to you. In addition to the damage the wheat does, it also causes malabsorption syndrome, so even if you eat the same as the next guy your small intestine does not absorb it so you are also dealing with malnutrition. The solution is avoid wheat, rye and replete your... -

Confused is an understatement
Wheatwacked replied to beyondbabs23's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It is not your ignorance but your doctors ignorance that is concerning, That’s why the moral of the story at this time is to evaluate how you feel when you eat 100% gluten-free for a couple of months. Until we have highly sensitive tests we can rely on to accurately diagnose gluten sensitivity, diagnosing will involve “building a case” by pulling toget... -
Other Foods That Cause GI Distress
Wheatwacked replied to brightspirit85's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
For most adults to not have lactose intolerance one needs to repopulate their gut with lactobacillus from salt fermented pickles, sauerkraut, olives. Other probiotics can also help like bifidobacteria. Are you getting enough choline from eggs, meat? It is impotant for fat digestion. It can cause false diagnosis of gall bladder disease. -
Too early for diagnosis?
Wheatwacked replied to JForman's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is a food list for choline in this fact sheet from NIH Choline Fact Sheet for Health Professionals the safe range for a 6 year old girl is 250 mg to 1000 mg. Beef, ground, 93% lean meat, broiled, 3 ounces is 72 mg. Egg, hard boiled, 1 large is 147 mg. Lecithin contains about 3–4% choline by weight. That's not considering t... -

Call and verify you are getting an Endoscopy with Celiac Biopsies. A simple gastroscopy won't clarify anything regarding Celiac Disease. With the family history you have it is virtually a slam dunk. When testing is all done, and they have no answers it will be time to trial Gluten Free diet for at least a few months. Many are negative biopsy... -

Too early for diagnosis?
Wheatwacked replied to JForman's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Since you are gluten sensitive, and your daughter has positive tests and the doctors don't have any ideas that help, the next step is a Gluten free diet. It does'nt really matter Celiac or NCGS. The only treatment is avoid gluten. Don't make her suffer because of medical beauracracy. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies are common in Celiac Disease. This... -

Liquid lunch, Most of the market is in Quick Pickles which gives it the flavor but not the nutritional value. Thats what salt fermentation is for.
