All the time you were eating gluten, it was activating an opiod effect, numbing your body not only to the pain caused by gluten, but also other foods that were bothering you but you didn't feel it. Without that numbing effect of the non-metabolized gliadin molecules with opioid activity , now you feel it. Also a study in 2020 points out that some wheat...

DR1-DQ5 neurological symptoms
Wheatwacked replied to Murilo P's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That is terrific news. 👯♀️ I did the math. 200,000 IU once a year works out to 547 IU a day, almost enough if all you are concerned about is Rickets and Osteoporosis. Also, in at least one of the studies you referenced, the effects of the high dose effects were gone in three months. Barely above. Celiac Disease because of its mala... -
Dear @OldNavyWife54, It seems to me that when the doctors are stumped it turns out to be a nutrient deficiency. Some due to Celiac Disease Malabsorption, which as you are eating gluten free shouldn't be an issue, but others due to bad advice. I'm 73. My son was diagnosed as an infant in 1976 and his doctor recommended gluten free for...

What hams can you eat.
Wheatwacked replied to Mary J's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat the Cooked Ham from Publix in the 1 lb presliced. They are marked gluten free. -
Hi @louissthephin, welcome to the forum. Your best bet is to shop the outer edges of the store. Fresh meats, dairy, seafood, vegetables, fruits. In other words, real food. Even better for pricing, go to a farmers market. Processed gluten free foods have additives to give it the gluten look that even though gluten free, may not sit well with...

No such thing. In the UK there are tax benefits and follow ups that come with an official diagnosis you might want to look into. So is he giving you an official diagnosis or is it just his personal advice? But at least your doctor got the avoid gluten part right. Celiac Disease and the western diet cause vitamin and mineral deficiency, that in turn cause...

Celiac Disease Test results
Wheatwacked replied to minkgurl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
While you are eating gluten and waiting on the doctor you could start taking Choline. It won't affect your your testing for Celiac and may help alleviate your discomfort and keep you out of the ER. "According to some research, over 90% of Americans don't get enough choline in their diet. You may notice that the warning that consuming too much choline... -
@KierstenL, trents is compltetely right. Welcome to the 1% Club (Celiac Disease) or at least the 10% Club (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity). An official diagnosis may have medical or legal advantages, but sounds like you need relief. Later you can do a gluten challenge for a diagnosis. There are several in particular that might help...

High IgA levels may indicate an underlying infection or inflammation which fits with your symptoms. Replenishing vitamin deficiency can take a long time. It is not one and done. Iodine appears to play a role in immune response. If you have an ongoing infection or inflammation, say from gluten, it will be diverted there as a priority. It works...

Celiac Disease Test results
Wheatwacked replied to minkgurl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi minkgurl and welcome. I totally agree with trents. Gluten free diet and replenish your vitamin and mineral deficiencies and you'll be amazed at how well you feel; and why didn't some one tell you years ago, before your gallbladder was removed. Gallbladder surgery in not uncommon with Celiac Desease. Combined with your NAFLD it would indicate... -
Thiamine deficiency can cause seizures but since thiamine is rarely tested for the literature says it is not a problem. Mostly it is left at "we don't know why" as you have already experienced. Neurological manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment of celiac disease: A comprehensive review

are these products gluten free?
Wheatwacked replied to Monicaa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I couldn't help notice the three prescriptions are for mental health. Has anyone looked at your vitamin D blood level? I found that vitamin D at 10,000 IU, Lithium Orotate at 5 mg a day and Liquid Iodine at 1625 mcg has helped my physical and mental health. Just to point out these are nutrients we should be getting as part of a healthy diet, but do not... -
Help...Feeling like I can't eat anything
Wheatwacked replied to Adamh's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
There is a newish designation: Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity. Around 10% of western diet get it compared to 1% Celiac. To diagnose first exclude Celiac Disease. Then look for improvement on GFD. You have to give it at least a month before giving up. After two weeks you may feel well enough so you are tempted to try some gluten. Been there, done that... -

Many on this forum have gone the not celiac, misdiagnosed this that and the other thing until one day 10 years later... Oh, you have Celiac Disease. The breath test tests for lactlose intolerance measures H2 indicating lactose intolerance and Sibo Lactose Intolerance: What Your Breath Can Tell You. High fructose corn syrup, bad. Sugar good. Welcome to the forum Vincent, At this point you should follow the advice. I am a little concerned that an MA working in a GI office in uncertain about Celiac Disease. But it makes sense, it gives you I am sure a welcome reprieve. Be sure to tell the story you told here to the doctor. Maybe that will suffice for a diagnosis. IGA deficient is...

What meds are you on? For me they were a source of pain. Amlodipine major dryness to eyes messed with my contactsl did not help BP Lisinopril caused inguinal hernia due to that persistant cough. even in combination with amlodipine did not effect BP. Doctor fired me. New doctor: Atenolol had me bent over like a 95 year old needing a cane or...

Welcome to the forum suzy q, What your doctors are missing is the malnutrion. At 73 I am aproaching 30. At 6'2" went from 185 pounds all belly fat, looked like a Mad Magazine margin cartoon, down to 150 and now stable at 165 lbs. Even wear the same sizes as when I graduated high school. The most important: Vitamin D at 80 ng/m....

Blood tests when gluten free
Wheatwacked replied to AuroraBee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That seems to be an official diagnosis. It really comes down to do you want to become unsick ? Tell them your doctor said it is Celiac so you are following his orders and eating gluten free. Then challenge them to give up gluten for one month, just to prove they are not addicted to gluten. if they are not addicted, it should be no problem... -

During the day I drink Red Bull for my energy carbs. 600+ calories a day. Red Bull because it has B3, B5, B6, B12 for transporting and converting the sugar and glucose to ATP. It has Taurine, an essential amino acid antioxidant to neutralize the ROS oxidents created in the Krebbs Cycle. Plus caffeine, magnesium, calcium. It does not have any medicinal...

The most common omeprazole side effect is headache. But it can also cause stomach-related side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Taking omeprazole at high dosages, or for longer than a year, raises the risk of more serious side effects. These can include bone breaks and pneumonia (a lung infection). GoodRX Why do the side effects...

Wheatwacked replied to amberlink84's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the forum. What is your concern? Your tests indicate no Celiac, they don't find anything in the endoscopy or colonoscopy so they say there is nothing wrong with you? Maybe they think it is all in your head? Welcome to the club. "Researchers have also linked IgA deficiency to autoimmune health problems. These are health problems... -

Wheatwacked replied to Murilo P's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That is good news about your relationship. "All studies evaluated report a significant increase in serum/plasma 25(OH)D concentration relative to baseline, which tended to peak between days 7 and 30 (Fig. 2). Mean serum/plasma 25(OH)D concentration surpassed IOM guidelines for vitamin D sufficiency (25[OH]D concentration >20 ng/mL) in all but 1 study...
