I agree with the food diary. I was gluten free for over a year, and lactose free too. Then I got the same problems basically. Turns out I'm also allergic to soy and casein. After eliminating those, I'm feeling much better!

Wow, thank you so much!! You rock!! Those all look so yummy! I can't wait to try some of them! I love black bean soup...I'm gonna try that soon!

Congrats!!! You must be so excited!!

My thyroid seemed to stabilize the first year I was gluten free. But then I encountered some other health problems, and had to have surgery. After the surgery, my thyroid went crazy again. I also started to notice I was reacting to soy, so I cut that out. I was having horrible periods, and the soy apparently was contributing to that. Also, my adrenals went out almost completely after the surgery, before that, it wasn't too bad. After I cut out the soy, I felt much better, and then I also realized it was casein that was causing the digestive problems and rash too. So, now that I cut out casein, and am on adrenal support, I'm feeling much better! I also found a birth control that is gluten, soy and casein free, which has helped with the cramps and pain from my periods. It can, and will get better!

Oh that's awesome!! I miss Jimmy John's! I had one when I was in college, but after moving to Florida, I haven't seen any. I'll keep this in mind when I go visit people!! Thanks!

I just wanted to say I bought some Ciroc and tried it. I like it!
I also went out to a restaurant Saturday night and had a type of margarita that was just tequila, orange juice and a splash of cranberry juice and it was nice. On Sunday at a sport's bar I simply ordered tequila and orange juice. No problems -- & no concerns over what mix is being used.
So thanks to both of you
Well I'm glad you liked it! I was just reading in the news....Diddy, or P. Diddy, Puffy or whatever his name is now....is going to be the spokesperson for Ciroc! I'm sure a lot more places will have it soon now!

I can imagine anything can have gluten in it since I have seen lemonade with gluten in it. I know a&w root beer and virgil's root beer are gluten free. Virgils is my favorite and blows regular root beer away but its very pricey.
OMG I love Virgil's root beer! It is pricey, so I only get it once in a while, but it is the best tasting root beer ever!!
Also, 365 whole foods brand makes a good gluten free root beer too, but not as good as Virgil's!

I absolutely love the Enjoy Life Cinnamon Crunch. It tastes like real granola! A lot of times, I mix a bit of this, with some EnviroKidz cereal too.

That was me as well. I was gluten free for about a year, and still had some symptoms. But then all of a sudden, I was sick all the time again. I figured out it was soy. Then I was soy free for a bit, and still sick, and having rashes all the time. Then I cut out the casein, and things have been great ever since!
I definitely miss the convenience of eating on the go. Being gluten free wasn't too hard for me, you could go anywhere and get a veggie salad still. But with soy, almost all dressing has soy in it, so it's been really hard for me to eat out. But then I think of how great I feel, and realize it's all worth it!

It could be that you are hypoglycemic. Did they test your blood sugar when you had the blood work done? I've always had low blood sugar, but after going gluten free, it dropped even more. (it's usually around 60) I can feel when I get low blood sugar, I get really dizzy, and shaky, nervous. Mine also gets worse when I'm really stressed out, like you were talking about. But if it's still going on after getting the stress a bit under control, I'd check your blood sugar.
I'm also allergic to soy, and noticed I got dizzy and nauseous when I had soy (as well as skin rash).
Now I make sure I eat something every 2-3 hours, no matter what! I don't ever have a big meal, it's just a bunch of mini-meals/snacks all day really. I notice if I eat three "regular" meals a day, I can't take it, I get dizzy, and have passed out.
Good luck!

I just wanted to say that I love Armour Thyroid! I tried Synthroid for about 4-6 months, and actually felt worse! Once I switched to Armour, the difference was amazing. I still get my blood work done at least every 4-6 months, since I have Hashimoto, my levels have varied. I may add Cytomel in soon too, for extra T3, since mine has been low. I noticed a big difference when I started taking the Armour sub lingually also. Also, adding Selenium supplements has helped with my thyroid levels too.
I still have a big nodule on my thyroid after being on Armour for 4 yrs, but it doesn't bother me too much, just feel the lump sometimes when I swallow, or feel like I have a sore throat sometimes.

Hathor, I've only seen Ciroc in a few bars. Then again, since I own & run my own business....I haven't been out much lately!! (Somehow after working 50+ hrs a week, all I can think about is plopping down on my couch when I get home!) I know I see it at just about every liquor store now, so it should be sort of mainstream out in bars/restaurants by now.
ps...I'm glad that didn't stop you from the dark chocolate!! I swear, I need my chocolate fix daily to survive!!

Sugarmag -- how to you have that vodka? (I discovered that Trader Joes has some dairy and soy free dark chocolate too -- I'm a little scared with the CYA warning label, though)
Sometimes I'll put it in a fancy martini type glass just chilled, with a twist of lemon/lime. (There's no way I could sip any other chilled vodka, just this one!) Or I like to put it in with a bit of cranberry juice, or pineapple juice. It's a bit sweeter than normal vodka, since it's from frost grapes. I just happen to like to mix it with fruity stuff.
I'd say go for it and try some dark chocolate!!

I like Snyder's Yellow Corn tortilla chips.
INGREDIENTS:
Yellow corn (enriched with thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, iron and folic acid), canola oil and salt. No preservatives added.
Allergy Information: Produced in a facility that handles peanut butter.

Well, I'm sure it could be possible! I have low thyroid (hypothyroid) and Hashimoto disease. I know when mine gets low, I do gain weight, as well as tons of other symptoms. But since everyone is different, you may only notice the weight gain. I had no energy whatsoever, very dry skin, hair starting to fall out, freezing cold all the time, etc. Hopefully the blood work will help figure this out! Good luck...

Oh that sucks about the wine and gluten-free beer! I'm just starting to try wine again, as I can't have sulfites. I found most Frey organic or byodynamic are sulfite free. I honestly didn't even know there was yeast in wine! Anyways, before I discovered this wine, I tried Ciroc Vodka. It's made from frost grapes, and distilled 5 times I think. Super smooth taste! It's my favorite vodka for sure!
Btw, I can't tolerate any soy lecithin either. Whether it's actually in a food, or in lotion or something.
Also, Dagoba, Terra Nostra, and Chocolove all make some type of gluten, soy and dairy free dark chocolates!! That was the first thing I went hunting for when I cut out soy!!
Hope you feel better....

Well, I don't have any suggestions, but I'll be watching this thread too! I know that some of my substitutes haven't turned out so well either!

Thanks. I went to the site and printed the info.
You are welcome! Have fun on your vacation!

Wow, that is a very interesting article! Thanks for posting.
I have adrenal insufficiency, and have been taking over the counter adrenal support pills for almost 3 months now. I think this is something I've had for well over a year, but I just didn't know it, or know what to ask my doc to test me for. I actually figured it out myself, and requested blood work for it! I don't think my doc did an antibody test, I'll have to ask about that next time.

Oh I'm so sorry you went through that! I'd be so mad too! I don't even understand the point of them making a product, and then marketing it, only to go, "oops, nevermind...we're just like everyone else!" I hope you don't start itching! I can't have soy, so I know how mad I get when I see "and/or soybean oil" on labels! I can't imagine the sunflower oil too!

I'm a hockey girl! We have satillite tv, and we are getting the hockey package. So starting next week I should be able to watch some!! I'm from Detroit, and will always be a Red Wings fan!! I do watch other teams occasionally, or when it's playoffs, I watch em all!

The Quasense representative did say there were "no starches" in it, but could not guarantee no gluten. I'm just going to switch to the Gluten Free generic, even though my insurance wont cover it until December since I just bought the pack a couple weeks ago...
I'm sorry you are dealing with this! I do know that Mircette, LoEstrin Fe 24 and Yasmin and Yaz are gluten free, if that helps you! Yaz is also soy free, and casein free too; and I love it!

You might ask this question in a new thread or try searching the board. Googling might help. I do remember someone recently saying that GNC does a good job of labeling their things for allergens, but I don't know this for a fact myself.
I've had really good luck with GNC. They have been stating all the information right on the bottle. I had a really hard time finding a fish oil without soy. But the deodorized GNC fish oil is safe.
It says:
Other Ingredients: Fish Body Oil, Gelatin, Glycerin
No Sugar, No Starch, No Artificial Color, No Artificial Flavors, No Preservatives, Sodium Free, No Wheat, No Gluten, No Corn, No Soy, No Dairy, Yeast Free
Storage Instructions: Store in a cool dry place.
I also use quite a few of their other supplements, and they all have the same statement on them. I haven't had any intestinal problems, or skin reactions with them. (Even a tiny bit of soy makes me break out in a rash.) (I have to take the women's prenatal, even though I'm not pregnant, just because it's also soy free!)
ps....I started off Gluten free, then it was soy free, and now I'm dairy free too! I starting thinking I'd react to everything also (corn, rice, etc). But so far, I'm fine now that those three are out!
Thanksgiving Is Coming!

Ok, now I have a question! Is it really that bad to eat the turkey, if stuffing was inside? I don't eat any of the meat that would touch the stuffing. This will be my 3rd Thanksgiving gluten-free, and I know last year I felt a bit icky, but I think it's from eating too much, not gluten. My mom makes sure that there's always something for me, and that the veggies and another side is safe for me. I'm wondering if I should ask her to cook the stuffing on the side now. Seems like that's what everyone else is doing.
