  1. The last time I checked the following Ben & Jerry's flavors are gluten free:

    Fudge Central

    Karamel Sutra

    Everything But The...

    New York Super Fudge Chunk

    Peanut Butter Cup

    Phish Food

    Pistachio Pistachio

    Uncanny Cashew

    Vanilla

    Chocolate

    Coffee

    Vanilla Caramel Fudge

But, of course, you should double check to make sure the ingredients are still gluten free.

  2. I contacted the company, Alacer Corp., today to see if the Emergen-C powders are still gluten free. I received the following response:

"In testing for allergens, we found that Raspberry and Mixed Berry Emergen-C do contain wheat; however, all other flavors are free from wheat, barley, and rye, and to the best of our knowledge, oats.”

The "new" nutrition facts for raspberry and mixed berry clearly list that they "Contain Wheat." So, it is easy to spot the difference. But be careful...some products are still on the shelf that do not list that warning.

  3. This has to be one of the cruelest posts I have seen on this site todate.... :(:(:(:(:( *missing phish food*

I believe the Phish Food flavor is gluten free. According to their website, they specifically state that if a product contains gluten it will be listed as either "wheat" or "flour". The ingredients for Phish Food ice cream list neither. However, I would double-check with the company.

  4. lapetit8 -- I also couldn't tolerate dairy as a baby and my parnets put me on soy. You WILL see, believe me/us, or not, suit yourself. Look DEEPER for the reason why you wrote "It took me 16 years of being sick to get diagnosed with Celiac Disease and 5 years of symptoms to be diagnosed with a rare brain abnormality." Be in denial if you choose, you choice. I write this with love and care in my heart...

Believe me, I did look deeper. If cutting soy from my diet is going to make me turn out like you than I think I will start adding more soy products. And seriously, I don't mind you having an opinion but you shouldn't personally attack people on a Celiac Disease message board. I understand soy may not be the best thing to always consume but one could say the same about refined sugar, meat, dairy, processed foods, etc.

  5. lapetit8 -- You'll see like I did in time. You'll get sick(er) and wonder why... It's poison! I found out the hard way. It took me about 5 year.

I have been tested for soy allergies/intolerances both of which I do not have. When I was younger I had a severe intolerance to lactose along with an allergy to all cow's milk. However, I tolerated soy products fine. I read through your websites and I don't have any of the symptoms that soy causes in "susceptible individuals." I have heard from friends that their is some recent evidence that soy is not good for one to consume, which is why I don't overdose on it or eat it that often. I am just saying that my headaches seem to go away when I have soy milk which is why I still drink it on occassion. And please do not tell me that I will see in time. It took me 16 years of being sick to get diagnosed with Celiac Disease and 5 years of symptoms to be diagnosed with a rare brain abnormality. I've seen some of the supposed "best" doctors in the country and if anyone understands about not always trusting doctors it is me.

  6. I've heard the negativity about soy...but isn't their adverse effects to almost everything? I mean one week we are supposed to eat soy and the next we should avoid it. My doctor tells me to consume soy products to help with inflammation.

  7. Hi Everyone,

I was reading through some past messages on this board and noticed that a lot of people seemed to have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hypermobility).

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is commonly associated with other neurological disorders such as Chiari malformations, Syringomyelia, Spinal Stenosis, Cranio-Cervical Instability, Spinal Cord Tethering. In fact, all of these neurological diseases can be related.

I have a Chiari type 1 malformation (formerly known as an Arnold Chiari Malformation - type 1) and my doctor who is very prominent in the study of Chiari 1 malformations and related disorders has noticed that a large percentage of his patients have Celiac Disease. A majority of his other patients seem to have IBS or other GI problems. So, my doctor is currently doing a study about the relationship between these disorders.

I was curious how many people on this message board have one or more of the above mentioned disorders? When I asked how many people have Celiac Disease on a Chiari messageboard I got an overwhelmingly positive response.

  8. In the past I have heard that Ricola cough drops are gluten free. However, I noticed on their website that it claims their products have "less that 0.01% gluten" and it recommends that one checks with their doctor regarding whether or not they should eat this product.

I don't think it is, but I just want to double-check....Is less than 0.01% acceptable?

I've had these in the past and have never had a problem with them.

  9. Thanks for posting this change in ingredients! The past week I have been getting awful stomachaches and now I know why...I had an old list that stated Duncan Hines frostings as being gluten free.

Since the frosting that I had wasn't brand new I thought that maybe it was still from the batch that was supposedly gluten free. I decided to contact the company and ask them. This is the response that I received from Pinnacle Foods Corp.:

"Thank you for taking the time to email us.

In regards to your inquiry, the Duncan Hines® Frostings are not gluten

free. Contact us again if we can be of assistance in the future."

So, are Betty Crocker and Pillsbury frostings gluten free?
