  1. Can you be celiac and become centenarian?
  2. Every one seems to affirm that silent Celiac people will damage their villi if they continue to eat gluten. Is it really proven scientifically and documented with examples of people having serious complications after opting to eat gluten despite being diagnosticated with Celiac? I do not want play with the devil but I was just wondering.
  3. Thanks for your input.
  4. My doctor had sent me this after my first endoscopy and biopsy. After this stage, she asked me to go gluten free for two months. After this period my blood test was almost at the right level. I mention to her that maybe my intestine was "red" (mildly she said) because I took many naproxen at that time due to a sciatica. Then she told me to eat some gluten...
  5. Interesting thread. Thank you for sharing. To make a long story short, after two endoscopies (the first one was just a check up), 3 blood tests and two biopsies, I have also been diagnosticated with Celiac. I have absolutely no symptoms after eating or no eating gluten. It is a little frustrating, but I feel fortunate when I read all the suffering endured...
  6. Thanks for your advice. I am going to think over it.
  7. Thanks GFinDC. I think it is an excellent start. 40 years ago nothing was done to enhance daily life for disabled people. Some courageous people fought a lot to improve this unfair conditions and nowadays, physically challenged people can take the bus or travel to most of the public places, which is an outstanding achievement. At a much minor scale, being...
  8. My Gastroenterologist is quite competent and has excellent reviews on several sites. I am just stating what the blood report said: after two months on a gluten free diet my TTG went from 31 to 6. Since I do not have any symptoms, she wants to make sure that I do have celiac. Before my first test, I was taking a huge amount of Naproxen and I asked her if that...
  9. I am in the same about situation. After 2 months of gluten free diet my TTG (Anti-Transglutaminase) is now a "6". Before it was 34. My doctor told me that it was a great improvement. Si I will assume the same in your case. My endomysal antibody titer is : 140 now. My doctor told me that it was not a problem. She know wants me to be 8 weeks on regular diet...
  10. Where is the whining? There is nothing ridiculous to suggest that restaurants propose one gluten free option in their menu. I traveled in India and China and was able to manage with my diet. There are more and more people following a gluten free diet. The way people will notice some financial interest in this market, and it has already started, you will see...

  12. After 2 months of gluten free diet my TTG (Anti-Transglutaminase) is now a "6". My endomysal antibody titer is : 140 now. My doctor told me that it was not a problem. She know wants me to be 8 weeks on regular diet with gluten. DShe wants to do another endoscopy and blood test. Not sure exactly what she wants to test...
  13. I recently traveled for the first time after having been diagnosed with Celiac (although I have absolutely no symptoms) and found it quite difficult to find gluten free sandwiches. I think it should be mandatory for restaurants to have at least one gluten free option in their menu. I am fed up to eat salad and fruit. It should not be a problem to have some...
  14. So it is impossible to be 100% sure that you have not been exposed. The only sign that you have been exposed is when you get sick. Scary!
  15. I have been recently diagnosticated with Celiac. I do not have any symptoms, and I am kind of skeptical. Yet, I decided to trust the blood test and biopsy conclusions and start the gluten free diet. What does cross contamination exactly mean? Obviously cross contamination is a serious concern for people affected with the presence of little gluten that...
  16. Thanks. Someone knows the meaning of : Endomysal antibody titer: 1:20 H Is the gluten free mall a good resource? Apparently not ok to eat soy?
  17. Thank you for the infos! Do you order on line? Are the products frozen? Is it ok to eat couscous and white rice?
  18. Thank you very much cycling lady for your support and kind words! Yes it was 31 not 3! I finally received the blood report. It also says: endomysal antibody sir (Riga); positive Endomysal antibody titer: 1:20 H Do you know what it means? I am slowly changing my habit... I had some heart burn from time to time although I eat quite healthy and...
  19. What does TTG mean? Here is what I received: So the genetic test HLD DQ8 shows that you are at risk for celiac (you either have to be positive for HLA DQ2 or 8 to have celiac). 97% of people with celiac have either HLA DQ 2 or DQ8. You had DQ8. The confirmation is the tissue transglutaminase level of 31, normal is less than 4 and the positive endomysial...
  20. Thanks! I got the lab report, which mentions that I have HLA DQ8 and a tissue transglutaminase level of 3. Quite often, I have heartburn that I can now connect to a potential celiac disease. If you go gluten free and don't have to many serious symptoms can you occasionally eat gluten if no choice?
  21. My doctor wrote to me that my recent endoscopy showed some changes of my small intestine which may indicate that I have celiac disease. Some blood work confirmed this. I am not sure what this blood work tested. but "something" was high. Yet, I am skeptical. I do not have any symptoms or disorders listed by many sites. This past three months I took regularly...
