The Nightmare Continues
fletcher96 replied to fletcher96's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Update: I have fibromyalgia and leaky gut. I'm not anemic, but I am iron deficient. A ferritin level of 29 is iron deficient. I got ferritin retested, and it's now at 39. According to Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, "Technically, ferritin levels are considered to be in the normal range if they are over 12. This is insane, as considering a level over 12 to be normal... -

I have to agree with you that I have NCGS. I've been using vitamin water, but nothing happens. No matter what I do, I'm foggy and tired. Even Monsters don't work like they used to. Thank you for the advice! This is definitely deficiency, which is different than anemia, but I'll still have to get rechecked while I'm off supplements. I'm seeing a new doctor... -

The B12 levels were obviously not accurate in determining if I have B12 deficiency if I took supplements that day. -

fletcher96 replied to fletcher96's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The ferratin level of 29 from last year was in "normal range." It was not optimal, though. Doctors and nurse practitioners are taught to look at normal levels; however, normal does not mean optimal. I am really curious to know what my ferratin levels are now, a year later. The doctor and NP weren't concerned because I was wasting their time. I am smart... -

Ok. 2 weeks without gluten and a month cutting back on it produced a negative result. Let's say I don't have celiac, which I'm leaning toward I don't (in which case, I wouldn't be salty if you deleted my account, but I would appreciate it if you kept this post up for at least a few days first.). But I have every single symptom of anemia, B12 or iron. The... -
Hi, so I have attached my test results. I just realized she didn't tell me to stop taking my supplements before the test. I was on 1000 mcg of B12, a women's daily vitamin, biotin supplement, and potassium supplement per day for about 2-3 weeks before the test. I took these supplements the day of the test and had eaten cereal, almond milk, and half a hamburger...

Celiac And Obsessive Compulsive Disorder/anxiety

I got my blood checked, and everything was normal. I'm at a loss of what to do. I'm beginning to think I am really just mentally ill even though I don't think I'm depressed or psychotic, but if the doctors think I am, it must be true! (sarcasm partially intended). I'm interested in what the last two studies have to say, though. It could be just food allergies... -

Basically, she only tested for DGP Ab IgA and DGP Ab IgG. The first was 3, the second was 2. I thought those tests were only given to people with IgA deficiencies? To what extent can I rule out celiac? What do you think? -

Ok, I'm questioning my sanity now. Maybe these symptoms are psychosomatic. I'm reading a ton on it right now. But since I cut out gluten and tree nuts a couple weeks ago, my heart rate has been gradually declining. Averages beginning with 2/14 - present (3/2): 102, 98, 98, 98, 97, 96, 94, 93, 94, 91, 91, 92, 92, 93, 93, 93. Before this, they have been 10... -

I know exactly what you mean. :/ I ate like a 1/4 bottle of gas x one time. Another time I got so uncomfortable I looked up how to relieve it. Lie down on your back and hug your knees. It works like 75% of the time. One time I tried a fiber bar. -

I told the NP that I was supplementing starting a couple weeks ago lol she didn't say anything. She probably didn't care. I took a DNA test using Ancestry.com about 7-8 years ago. I downloaded a copy of my raw DNA and uploaded it to the website Promethease last year. For $5, they gather information from SNPedia and match your DNA to specific genes associated... -
I wasn't offended. I genuinely wanted to know what your point was. I'm sorry if you took that the wrong way! No, I don't care if she sees it or not. Only time will tell if she does. I really did not put so much thought into it until now. It will not affect my life at all if I get a response or not, but I responded with my input. At the least, other people...

Celiac And Obsessive Compulsive Disorder/anxiety
fletcher96 replied to lakegirl410's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I didn't develop severe OCD (yes, severe. I can actually say I was diagnosed) until shortly after my grandma died when I was 12. The OCD was triggered by trauma. Sure, you could have the genes for greater likelihood of having OCD, but you're making it seem like you either 100% develop it or 100% don't. That's like saying you will develop celiac if you were... -
What's your point? I get e-mail notifications when someone comments. Also, forums are public so people looking for similar things can see the responses too.

I have been clearing my throat a lot since I was 17, particularly in the morning after I brush my teeth. I still have not found out why toothpaste would irritate acid reflux. I currently use a kid's toothpaste, which helps. When I cut out dairy, the post-nasal drip went away except for when I eat greasy foods, gluten, and oil, among other things that I haven...

Oh, maybe I was thinking of a test where you prick your finger, and it tells you the reading like a blood sugar test does. I was reading a book about it last night. I thought that was what it described. -
If I was you, I would stop shaving my armpits. It's completely unnecessary for only women to shave our legs and armpits. An old woman came in to where I worked looking for Nair because she kept cutting her fragile, old skin shaving. Her doctor told her to use Nair instead of telling her to stop mutilating herself for no reason. There's hair there for a reason...

I cried when I read this :'( I read it out loud to my mom and cried again. That was beautifully written, especially since it exposes just how sad and tragic and real celiac disease is. I needed to read this, so thank you! I'm so thankful my mom finally believes me that's something is wrong. You don't need to feel guilty about your dad. I felt guilty for a... -

Yeah, that's why I kept mentioning the app to them. I was hoping they would ask to look at it. I can't think of anything else but malabsorption. No one has a BMI of 18.5 and eats 2000 calories a day.... And I don't get diarrhea, but I go to the bathroom at least 3 times a day, usually after I eat. About half the time it is constipation, the rest is regular... -
I saw two doctors yesterday. Yesterday was supposed to be the best day of my life. The day I find out what's wrong with me. My mom found me a seemingly wonderful new doctor. We watched her video online. She seemed caring, helpful, and personable. I came prepared with past blood test results and a long, long list of symptoms. When she walked in, I held back...

I'm not diagnosing myself with anything.... But if I think I have celiac disease based off peer-reviewed research, then I think I have a right to hypothesize. I know me better than anyone else. I've had medical "professionals" diagnose me for things I never had just to make money off of selling me pills, giving me more tests, etc. They're not God. It's really...

I realize everyone is different. I was just wondering how it happened for other people. I am getting tested on Tuesday. I just read somewhere that a severe glutening could make it worse. I have so many symptoms I could write a book on them lol. Thanks!

How did your symptoms come on if you developed the symptoms later in life? Was it gradual? Did everything just hit you at once? What was the timeline like for you? Did the symptoms get increasingly worse with almost every major exposure? Were symptoms brought on by emotional stress or PTSD? My symptoms got worse after I was diagnosed with PTSD and also after...

Thank you for your reply. I am seeing the campus NP this week. I'm getting all the tests they offer because they are only like $10 for the blood panel and the one that tests vitamins and stuff. Looking at my records from the past, it is worth noting how fast I am approaching hypothyroidism. Last time I was tested, my TSH was .71. That was 4 months ago. And...
