  1. PS: Regarding the teff, I had purchased it (the grain, which I have ground myself at home) directly from the grower and producer, Maskal Teff, in Idaho. They do not have any kind of shared equipment or storage for the teff, and they test every batch to ensure that it is no higher than 10 ppm in gluten, so there is that at least. I can't say that I...
  2. Dear SquirmingItch, I really have to thank you for that wealth of information you have posted here. Some of that I already knew, but it is good to both review it again, and to be able to read it all in one place (for those in the future who might reference this thread). I had known about many if not most of the high-iodine foods for a while now...
  3. I will definitely let you all know about my experience with avoiding oats, CycylingLady. I was also sporadically using teff flour and teff grain, but I am going to cut that out along with the oats. So, I guess I will be avoiding ALL grains, except for rice.
  4. Dear CL, thanks for your very considerate reply! I am guessing that you could probably pick up on my growing frustration and discouragement with the lack of improvement with my DH over the past six months or so. It's particularly frustrating in that, unlike most people, I am able to, and do, prepare virtually all my own food, from scratch, so my opportunities...
  5. Hello All, I am sorry if this post seems like it is rehashing topics that others have brought up here in the past, but frankly I am still very confused about my DH situation, which is still ongoing, if lessened, after being rigorously gluten-free for over 13 months now. Just when I thought, a month or two ago, that MAYBE this lingering DH might...
  6. Oh boy, now I can give up my Vegemite substitute of used motor oil mixed with road salt! No, on second thought, I think I'd prefer sticking with the used motor oil and road salt.
  7. Hello All, While I have posted little if at all in the past several months, I thought I'd give you all an update on my situation since I started this thread seven months ago. I have adhered to a strict gluten-free diet (or as strict as I can possibly make it) for almost 13 months now, without a single case of "cheating" (was never even tempted!...
  8. Thank you, all, especially AE directly above, for that information. You know, I never knew or suspected that any kind of swimming pool used anything other than chlorine, or some form of chlorine anyway, to disinfect their water. But apparently iodine/iodates work very well, better in fact than chlorine, but they do nothing to keep down the algae that...
  9. I know that the implication of the pool chemicals in my bad flare-up might sound a little odd, and maybe it is, as I do not know if the iodine has to actually be INGESTED to cause the skin reaction, or if it could just be absorbed through the skin directly. Chemically, what happened would seem to make sense to me, if the iodine was absobed through my skin...
  10. Oh, one thing that I REALLY wanted to ask you all about, was the circumstances of my worst rash/bumps/itching outbreak since going gluten-free (or even for several months before going gluten-free). Back in early April, I started physical therapy for a spine injury that I suffered in a bad fall in early March (yes, it has NOT been a good year for me!...
  11. Hello all, I am a newbie here, and this is my very first post. So I hope that you can be patient with me as I try to explain my situation. I have/had been having an increasing problem with an incredibly itchy rash for the past five or six years. This came on so gradually that I can't even remember exactly when it started, as at first it was merely...
