  1. If the mother ingests gluten, gluten is in the breastmilk.
  2. This is an old post... It was before my daughter was diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitus. Her breath smelled really bad. She would also have speckled tonsils that looked like strep. Gluten can be a trigger for eosinophils.
  3. If the pain continues, or is cause shallow breathing, please see a doctor. My friend kept blowing off the pain, and ended up being hospitalized. It was pleurisy that was compounded with pnemonia. I think she had the pleurisy first and developed the pnemonia from the shallow breathing.
  4. Anemia can cause tiredness. Very common with Celiac. After accidental glutenings it can take a week to get back to a normal energy level.
  5. Narcolepsy has recently been classified as an auto-immune disease. That would be a connection to a gluten free lifestyle helping the overall health of the patient. (Sounds like we have hit on the same articles.) A vitamin B12 defiency could explain some of the symptoms and is common among Celiacs. A good explaination of Vitamin B12 defiency can be found...
  6. Dairy is known to cause more phelgm without an allergy diagnoses for humans. When was the last time she had an endoscopy with biopsy? She may have to have one to determine if there is anything else going on and to check on the gluten free diet healing process.
  7. It could be dysphagia. Food could really be stuck in her throat. Are you noticing any other symptoms?
  8. Pernicious anemia is associated with Celiac disease. If your gut lacks the intrinsic factor needed to process vitamin B12. Early symptoms would be a B12 deficiency and enlarged red blood cells.
  9. Alcohol has a stronger affect on me since being gluten free. I was having a fine gluten free cocktail (Nursing that puppy all night, until it was too diluted from the ice) Than someone offered a taste sample of a shot. I asked what was in it and it should have been gluten free. BIG mistake, always ask the bartender that made the drink. Well it must have...
  10. Have you run accross any statistic of Celiacs that are Narcoleptic? Do you think anyone diagnosed with narcolepsy should be tested for Celiac?
  11. Have everyone in the house hold also use a blow dryer on their hair. The heat can render the adult lice sterile at least.
  12. Looks like we need a drink right NOW! Aren't we all on the gluten free team here? Let's find something that won't make some of us nearly crap our pants and beg to die. Cheers to mud in your eye!
  13. I hope every thing went well at Bri's appointment. Did they do further testing? I'm on the vomit/throw up/ sprue posts today because my 6 year old just got out of the hospital Sunday after vomitting blood. She had a viral infection (unknown virus) and the "non-diagnoses" of the whole event "could possibly be" mesenteric adenitis. So get Bri back to...
  14. It is totally worth it! There are too many gluten free things to eat. You can find a very good gluten free product to replace just about anything. L. By the way all my tests came back negative too.
  15. I read an article that was from a Celiac person's perspective on food additives. They mentioned a yellow food coloring had made them sick (in a yellow and blue make green colored food situation) and verified it was gluten from the label on the yellow food color. I personally have not found gluten in any food color. L.
  16. From articles I have read there is a 30% higher risk for Celiacs to have gall bladder problems. Some articles say that early on in Celiac that the gall bladder does not function properly (sorry I forgot the percentage of malfunction). I have been looking into this because I think I am actually having full blown gall bladder attacks. When you have the pain...
  17. I'm having major keyboard issues. Could someone post on the other site about a possible connection to gluten? I would have done anything to get rid of those bumps. If a gluten free diet can get rid of it for three people, it is worth knowing about. Laura
  18. My son and I have that. The more gluten, the more bumps.
  19. I have never been diagnosed with that, but I have had the chest pain since 1997. The doctors just kept saying I had a viral infection. Now I have a rib that just sticks out. If it gets too far out of place I go to a chiropractor, because I have difficluty breathing. L.
  20. There is a auto-immune liver disease that is associated with Celiac. My daughter is to be screened for it during her yearly check at the ped. gastro. I can't think of the clinical name for it. It was also said that Joe C. was not as carefull with his diet and lifestyle as doctors reccomended. I've heard cause of death listed as Celiac Crisis before...
  21. This is why being on a gluten free diet is more expensive for me. I will only by brand names that I trust. By that, I mean I can contact the company and get a clear answer. If the company says they can not be responsible for the companies they buy their ingredients from, it is not the company that deserves my business. Laura
  22. It must have been a bad day, that is not like you. Hope you are feeling better today. Warmest wishes, (since it's freezing here in Mi.) Laura
  23. All right then not a grammer issue, but not worded the way you feel comfortable with. (That is my best attempt at staying politically correct.) Some or all? Big difference. How many is many? "As if" or like? Let's just get to the point. We are here to share information. The words that are used to convey our thoughts need to be chosen carefully. ...
  24. It's just another issue about grammar then? I personally have noticed problems with msg and annatto. Maybe the best way to give advice about those ingredients would be... They are listed as gluten free in the u.s., if you are unsure, check with the manufacturer keep a food diary, if you notice a particular ingredient causes problems, research...
