  1. hi hows it goin???

  2. The Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University proudly announces the Teen Workshop Series. Beginning this spring, the center will hold three seasonal, educational and interactive workshops geared towards teens that are 13-18 years of...
  3. Ha . No problem Actually, I have another suggestion about font sizes if you have trouble reading the actual posts, or any other signatures. For those who use Mozilla Firefox, if you ever run across a site with font too small (or a forum page), hold ctrl and press the + button. It makes all of the font larger. Likewise, ctrl and - makes it smaller...
  4. Argh... now I need to find a new frosting (other than the Duncan Hines homestyle).
  5. If it meets the CODEX standard, but contains wheat, it's probably "WHEAT STARCH," which is considered gluten-free in Europe.
  6. People with lactose intolerance can tolerate some forms easier than others (i.e. some ice cream might be bad, but something else might not). But spelt still contains gluten--and it doesn't matter what type of gluten it is, it will still result in villous atrophy. Look at the second point in this list on celiac.com: (re: spelt) https://www.celiac.com...
  7. ABSOLUTELY NOT GLUTEN-FREE Spelt is a form of wheat, and despite what any health food store employees will say (MANY are misguided on this), it is wheat and therefore, not gluten-free. Even look it up in the dictionary and you'll see it, for example m-w.com (Merriam Webster's): spelt 2 entries found for spelt. To select an entry, click on it. ...

    Hellllooooo!

Yes, it seems like this blog thing has really slowed down.
  9. Wow...that's crazy. Cell phone people are REALLY, REALLY stupid. My family has had similar issues with the cable people and the internet people--really bad...and some of them hardly speak English
  10. Absolutely gluten-free--maybe they said that it wasn't since some people have non-celiac related gastrointestinal symptoms from the artificial sweetener used in it. Celiachap -- that OJ is gluten-free.
  11. That much gluten cannot harm us--which means we can drink anything Coke makes, basically. Yes--this is the original Tropicana OJ...nothing added, no diet, no special flavors. It fits the quota with plant numbers and I've felt fine. Sorry, can't get to the ingredients for the calcium--my connection's really slow today--check the carton, I guess for...
  12. I had been drinking the OJ w/ calcium for my first few months before finding out about this plant thing. Those numbers are not on it, though I can't imagine it having gluten. Just to be safe, I did without. I now drink just the regular/original 100% orange juice.
  13. The original Fritos are made on dedicated lines, so you shouldn't get a gluten reaction from them.
  14. I'm not vegan, so I'm not going to be able to help you much on this, but I just want to say that health-wise it is very important that you get enough protein. Fat insulates and helps with nerve signals, carbs are the only thing your brain will use for energy (that's what's wrong with the low-carb diet...), but protein does basically everything else--muscles...
  15. That is.......a lot of pills. First off, there are no pills for celiac disease, so that can't be it. Second, he'd have to have something wrong with basically everything in his body to be taking 70 pills...that's a strange story.
  16. Ortega Taco Sauce Original Thick and Smooth is gluten-free--I don't use seasonings--I just use the sauce.
  17. Lol...sorry, I have a lot for the US, but nothing for Canada.
  18. If it really is a problem, that really complicates things--just one more ingredient we need to call about....
  19. I read two threads on celiacforums (just after you mentioned it) discussing citric acid. The point they're making about citric acid in other countries is that it can be imported and used by companies in the US, even though it contains wheat.....I don't know how this all works or if the company has an obligation to mention that it contains wheat since all...
  20. If I saw this on a label, I would never take it as being gluten--never seen it on any forbidden lists and it's not on the one at celiac.com. I would assume it's safe....
  21. Citric acid is always fine..... Maybe since this wasn't the actual celiac, but a friend, it was a different ingredient? If you check the ingredient list, too, citric acid won't be there. It's fine.
  22. Oh, right! I forgot that they even made stuff beyond juices! ....good to know that they're completely gluten-free
  23. Nausea is a symptom...I've had it, as well........accompanied with abdominal pains, vomiting, gas, bloating, diarrhea, and low weight....
  24. To top off my Chebe pizza I use Kraft cheese--they have a shredded mozzarella that is fine (oops, Richard mentioned that already). I also use some parmsean (sp.) cheese (but that wasn't some shredded kind so I guess that doesn't really matter for this discussion). -celiac3270 P.S. So, Gillian502 -- it's not a bad idea at all -- it's gluten-free
  25. I use Domino's sugar............and thank you for posting the entire list......
