Yep. Connor on the left is almost blonde and Daniel is dark haired. Connor has blue eyes and Daniel has hazel/green eyes...... They are as different as night and day. Unbelievable, eh?
Well, I believe it! That's just the coloring of my boys! Are their personalities different too?

Glad you're better today Lister. Let us know how it goes tomorrow.

Yep, Karate.
My two little Ninjas........
Karen
Is it my imagination or does one have darker hair than the other? Just asking cause one of my twins is blond & the other brunet... yours look more alike than mine do though. I actually had people refuse to believe they were twins!
-
Karen, your pic of the twins brought tears of nostalgia to my eyes, remembering my boys in their Aikido gis... is that a Karate stance? I get the martial arts disciplines all mixed up.

I think "Good googly moogly" goes back a lot farther than that-- I remember my grandfather used to say it & he's been dead over 30 years... sometimes it was "Great googly moogly" if the occasion warranted! He was from Mississippi, so maybe it was a local thing...
Wow... just had the inclination to google googly & found this!

What a horrible experience! So sorry they spoiled your cake... hope you got another somehow? Thanks for warning the rest of us. The condition of the cake was bad enough-- their response to your complaint was even worse.

I've decided to have my house gluten free. My teens don't want to cooperate. They refuse testing and they said they won't stop eating gluten. Fine. I am however going to make over my house to gluten free and if they want gluten they'll have to go to McDonalds.
Does anyone have a better than great bread recipe for sandwiches? The ones I tried from the store were so dry, I choked on them. I like the frozen almond/rice loaves or pecan/rice loaves but they won't like them.
Queenofhearts, I see so many flour combinations, I'm confused. Is there one that's Better than Great?
I'm not sure it qualifies as even Great (compared to the wheat breads I used to make) but my favorite for gluten-free bread so far is Bette Hagman's 4-flour blend, which includes sorghum. I especially like the sesame variation of her 4-flour bread. But I've just been experimenting with teff for the first time & am eager to try working with it in a yeast bread. It has a whole-wheaty flavor that rings my chimes... do your kids like whole wheat?
My kids won't be tested either, & have no interest in going gluten-free though each has some possible symptoms, one quite a few... but they're heading off to college again so I'm not making a fuss at the moment. I share your frustration, but teens do have minds of their own-- it's not the only foolish decision mine have made! But let's not go there. They're great kids & I was plumb crazy at their age so who am I to judge.

I've only used the ER when I was having an anaphylactic reaction, or when my kids were bleeding. Otherwise, they're not really set up for subtle diagnoses, & Lister's problem sounds like more than most could handle. So long as you don't think it's internal bleeding, & you say you don't, right?

This is "vedddy interesting" as I have been wondering why I have such difficulty finding a bra that fits correctly anymore. I have been gluten-free for a few years but the past 2 years every bra is too small or too big...nothing just right.
(Anybody remember what show the quote is from and who said it?)

Yes, esp. if you don't have it often (the flour). If you're fine with the other stuff, I wouldn't think that you're soy intolerant, but if soy flour bothers you, I would stay away.
Sounds like a plan! I mostly bake for myself so it's not going to be a big issue. Mainly I was just worried it might be some odd soy problem that would get worse. I love tofu & soy sauce, don't have them every day but would hate to lose them!
-
It doesn't seem to help me; in fact my liver enzymes were high when diagnosed so my GI told me I should limit alcohol until the Celiac is under control. I certainly don't think it is worth starting just for this. I have more stomach discomfort when I do drink, but that could be just me.
-
You'll be okay, Lister, I think a lot of your pain may be linked to anxiety. Have you talked to your doctor about this at all? I find my stomach burns when I am very anxious or upset. Not saying it's the only cause, but it makes it much worse. Then it's a vicious cycle because you worry about the pain.
-
soy flour in general is difficult to digest.
I thought it was odd that other soys don't seem to bother me... but it sounds as if you're saying it's not an intolerance so much as just an inherently difficult product?
-
Sounds good! Glad to hear you are eating well.

Just try to slow your breathing. It doesn't have to be super deep as long as the breaths are slow, it sends a neurological signal that is relaxing. It really helps me when I get very stressed out.
Good thinking on the Prilosex/weight loss... wonder why your doc recommended it though???
-
The last thing you need now is an anxiety attack! Do you know how to do breathing for relaxation? I think you should try this; it may actually help your stomach pain. Do you know about the "stomach brain"? There is a close relationship between the nervous system & the stomach.... that may be part of your problem right now since you are under a lot of stress. If the Prilosec gets you through until Monday that's all you need from it at the moment. You should definitely see the doctor then & discuss all your symptoms & the things you fear they may indicate.

Cat lovers will love this...
lol
My husband was just telling me about this! Hilarious!
Have you seen the one about herding cats?

WOW! I just made my first batch of teff muffins (I used the recipe on the Bob's bag with some modifications) & YUM! They really taste earthy & whole-wheaty & just what I was hoping for! I'm thrilled since I had really been missing that flavor. I'm going to experiment next with some yeast breads... I'll let you know how that goes.

Why don't you just make your kids gluten-free pancakes? They might not even know the difference.
This is what I do. Gluten-free flours make great pancakes since pancakes are best with low-gluten flour anyway.

Yes, I have 2 brothers & 2 sons, & that means all sorts of contests! Usually I am called upon to judge, which I hate, since someone always ends up mad at me. So I'm telling you now YOU ARE BOTH THE BEST!!
-
Really, it's so hard to explain! I sincerely tried to think of how it happens, & I really couldn't describe it...
Try to describe how you sneeze... it's just hard!

All this talk of burping is taking me back... my brothers, husband & sons were/are all very proud of their burpability. I am but an average burper, yet I keep ending up in the middle of burp contests!

How do I write something under my pic??
Beautiful!
