So disgusted! (With myself and Celiac)
healthysquirrel replied to SabineHP's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello SabineHP, Sorry you are not feeling your best. The advice you got so far in this thread is very good. Personally I do think that preparation is sometimes a challenge, but you can always watch a funny show or listen to good music while preparing your food. I have less food stress now because I always have 2 or 3 meals ready for spontaneous events... -
thanks very much Cyclinglady, these links are great! I take no drugs, but will need to take iron pills again. I will definitely take a good look at my supplements again. As you know they are highly processed no matter how "natural". I am taking less supplements and eating really well, focusing on whole foods. I Unfortunately, am feeling extremely...

Hello Cyclinglady, My ferritin is at 28 and hemoglobin normal. Honestly 28 is super high for me, but maybe I feel the symptoms more, I used to live on adrenaline (former workaholic). I have no thyroid issues, but am on my 2nd year of menopause. Getting a urine test, a blood test and a blood smear tomorrow. I live in Switzerland, but it is spring...

Hey there ! hope all is well for you. I’ve been struggling with all sorts of tenidinitis and vertigo issues so I haven’t been on the computer much, but I would love any advice if possible. I have been on a very strict gluten free diet for 6 or 7 months. Still have low iron and just got results back. Would love your opinion. I prepare all food myself exc...

Sharing Toothpaste Tube?
healthysquirrel replied to greenbeanie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Cyclinglady! BTW our home has gone completely gluten-free and we use gluten-free toothpaste, I guess I need to stick to using my own forever since my husband eats gluten outside the home eh? oh well! Good idea about the bins, it will make our bathroom more functional and organised and will leave no room for error. (desperately looking for silver linings... -
Sharing Toothpaste Tube?
healthysquirrel replied to greenbeanie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey everyone! Old topic, but I am wondering if anyone else has any new feedback since 2015 about sharing a tube of toothpaste with a gluten eater. I am so insanely safe, but feel that I am somehow always in the inflammation stage, I know it can take time to heal after having been undiagnosed for decades, but I am still wondering about this. In the meantime... -

healthysquirrel replied to healthysquirrel's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you for this response. It is very kind and you are right. I don’t need to decide everything right away. In fact I just need to feel better and the rest will come. -
So sorry you are feeling unwell, Is it possible to try another treatment for gerd? Try a low FODMAP for a few months and see of you feel better. If it works, then you can reintroduce one food at a time to see which one is bothering you. the first few months for me were brutal in terms of digestion, whereas I my digestive symptoms were not was bad before...

Hey everyone, It is a long shot, but I was wondering if anyone here knows about a link to information in french about celiac disease that is well done. I have asked my local coeliac association and searched google, but I am looking for a good site with proper information and maybe a human here that is french speaking) The ones I find only cover...

thanks a million for this information posterboy! I will see how my new magnesium reacts in a bit of time and report back. Looking forward to seeing a new doc/specialist in a week and a half. I am falling asleep everywhere at the moment, had another attack last week. Either something is not right or I just need more time to heal. I honestly felt much...

Hello Posterboy, Thanks for your information. I did have mononucleosis when I was about 15 and it lasted 6 months. I am taking sublingual b12 and it turns out I am on 400mg of Magnesium per day (I switched my calcium supplements and they now contain magnesium and zinc), but I had forgotten the switch because I use a pillbox and i'm foggy. I am also...

Thanks so much Posterboy!!! I bought magnesium salts to soak in when i get home from work. A naturopath here told me it absorbs faster through the skin. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27624531 I am open to the idea that my seizure might not be related to a glutening. I just wish I knew what triggered it, so I could avoid it. It sounds strange...

About anxiety, I have it too, it sucks in general, but I am trying super hard to keep anxiety separate from food so that it won’t be an ongoing thing once I heal. My solution is having at least one or two meals or picnics ready. And one in the freezer. I am able to remain spontaneous and it lowers my anxiety about future meals. Always have a lunch/m...

I was wondering the same thing today, but now that I think about it. It isn’t rude to want to be healthy. ? You can try a list with code friends or tell them to just bring themselves as you are looking forward to spending time. Or you can say please do not bring snacks as many of them affect your health, but tell them to bring wine or juice. I a...

Hi Joe, It is quite difficult to navigate this diagnosis while feeling down and anxious. Sending good vibes your way! I'm about 5 or 6 months in, this is what I learned, (I am not a DR and still a newbie) : Try to eat naturally gluten free whole foods rather than processed foods until you are feeling better. This not only makes you heal...

@posterboy Thanks for the research and links. My magnesium levels are the lowest possible within the normal range. I am really thankful for this information though and will show it to my doctor, I will see a new doctor wednesday who is hopefully more informed. I am still trying to find out what happened I notice high platelets and white blood cells, but...

Gluten in Foods Labeled 'Gluten-Free' an Ongoing Problem
healthysquirrel commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Additional Concerns
I’m sorry, but these articles are not helpful without providing a proper list of companies or restaurants to avoid. It’s really hard to follow this diet already, we don’t need fear mongering articles like this on a CELIAC website. This is unfair and scary to people who suffer from a real autoimmune disease.- 16 comments

Celiac and Neuropathy
healthysquirrel replied to Anna Lyndal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Anna, I have read issues such as these on this forum, as the others have mentioned. I am sorry you are going through this. I am curious if you might have neuroma https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/mortons-neuroma/symptoms-causes/syc-20351935 I have it on both feet. The gluten-free diet seems to have helped. Proper innersoles that... -
I'm much older (45) so no one buys me gifts, but I honestly can't think of a better gift than bed sheets! Your dad rules! Your posts, makes me realize I need to do more online shopping to get proper ingredients. Your recipes are very inspiring, thanks for sharing them. Wow I am really sorry to hear you are continuing to vomit, I hope you are getting...

I'm sorry this is affecting you, it sucks! They are adding 3 stories to our appartment building while we are living here, so much dust and noise and now ventilation issues. Clean as much as possible, but if you have the money please hire people to do it for you and go out while they do it, if not wear a mask while cleaning. I am usure if you have an...

Very good advice. thanks! Sorry about your other AI issues, must be difficult to follow, even though you are super knowledgable! I answered you from the hospital, but it seems it didn't work. I thought about it again and even thought it was likely the fries, it could also have been a reaction to a certified gluten-free corn cereal with certified gluten...

Hey there! I'm out of the hospital! Feels nice to be free. I definitely will not ever try to eat fried food at a restauraunt again. I had asked the wait staff (x2) and the cook and know this place and have been going for years and it was not a busy time so we all had time to talk. I explained very well and in detail. I had zero digestive issues at all...
